[Adopted] Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XI

Link and Tony brothers! They are too adorable. And very stylish in those print t-shirts, which I love. I can sense lots of personality from both of them.

Laika immediately rejected all of his Tony fullset as soon as he came out of the box, but his default faceup had SUCH a smirk, I had to keep it. I'm not sure if his faceup is actually different from other default faceups, or if there's just some quirk about him that makes him look smirkier.

I bought a dress from 9Nine in size SD16 because they didn't have any SD13 size left. It fit my SDgr Lorina doll.

 

Izam – I love Tony’s!! I am so happy to see your Tony’s. Both are different, but so lovely. And I am inclined to agree with you. If I wanted very specific markings or tattoos, I would commission a private artist.

Lyrajean – Yeah for more Tonys! And Marsha has been one of my favorites for so long. Those outfits are adorable BTW!

JennyNemesis – I do love your Tony, but I never realized that was a default face up! In fact, I love all your boys. I love how you have them styled.

AlmySidaKay – I have a lot of Volks siblings myself. I need to get them out and take some pics of them. I love seeing pics of siblings.

I take it that you've managed to secure your admission? Please share with me how :3 I'm so desperate, I've been checking out Y!J but i completely forgot aout emailing Volks. I'll do that in the morning definitely.

 

I did! I bought my guidebooks as soon as they came out on the April 12 and had them shipped to me. Sometimes I've had to email Volks and ask them to ship it asap because of travel arrangements. This time they were really fast! I checked the website again and it looks like they are being made available again on April 19.

And I have been trying not to look at YJ! haha I'm trying to save all my money for the dealer room at Dolpa. Hope to see you there! I think you should be able to spot me because I stand out like a sore thumb - blond and caucasian. I think I'm bringing my YoSD Kun and Sorbet (from DDS Melty)

 

Haha, yes, it's good to say what dolls you might be carrying with you for identification's sake. There are not a "ton" of foreigners at Dolls Party, but still a much higher percentage than at most other Japanese events I've gone to. So you definitely won't be the only blonde caucasian there!

I have my guidebooks in hand, ready to go. According to the map, they changed around the layout of the event hall a little, swapping the dealer area and the line waiting area for limited dolls. (versus previous Tokyo Dolpas in recent history)

 

You guys with your Tony's! I think that guy needs a re-release.

Oh, a School B! I always thought the Sch B and Mimi13 looked related. And Tsukasa is one you don't see very often any more either. (Haha, we have that magic 8 ball too!)

Ahhh, I'm jealous! I really wanted that set for my little Scot, but with a trip coming up I couldn't afford it. Your boys look gorgeous!

 

Oh wow, I love that kilt set! I tried to take some Easter photos this year, and Ghost and Luna were the luck "volunteers."



I also have a request. I just bought a School Head A for Ghost there to re-shell him, and I'd love to see some School Head A spam!

 

Omigawwwwd whisperingtree, your Shiro is so adorable in that regimental outfit!! Jeeeez, could he be any cuter. Freedom Teller have outdone themselves again, I see.

Thanks very much! Hehe, Laika gets that a lot. I think the icy eyes & all that shock-goth styling distracts the viewer from noticing he's got his original paintjob.

My only wish is that Volks had used more sealant on him-- his face started to get shiny within a year of owning him, and he's so shiny now that sometimes I have to blot his forehead/nose in Photoshop. ;;^^ But it's a faceup I love dearly.

They do look a lot alike!-- when I saw yours & Lolita's Mimis on the last page, School B was the first sculpt I thought of. They could be siblings from the same anime. The nose, it's so pointy it's barely-there. ^^ And sort of the same smile.

But if you take that face and "evolve" it a little more, it also looks a lot like Tsukasa, with the nose & the smile. I had originally bought School B because I assumed I'd never find a Tsukasa (he's always been hard to find!), so I got a substitute... but then I found Izumi not much later, so I kept B-head as a little brother.

(I'd forgotten about that Magic 8-Ball on the table. Great prop for any doll to have around the house. After all, everyone needs a little divination.)

I always loved School B for that reason~ I think it would make a good sibling for my Mimi13! And Byakuren is on my wishlist as well for that reason, and also because the sculpt style still appeals to me. n__n;

 

Your dolls are just beautiful. Creamy Mami is amazing.

 

Quick question for anyone who got one of the Volks USA orphans...

Masha has a headplate but it is blank. Are all the Limiteds from the orphan sale like this? I read somewhere that some came without headplates, but I can't find the reference now.

I found myself idly speculating about numbers of Mashas if this one has no identification - my other one is an HTB one (one of the reasons I find it hard to part with her...). I saw on Angelden that there were 80 Mashas for the release in 2007, and a limited quantity for HTB in 2008, so would my lovely orphan be one of the original 80? Before she arrived I was wondering if she would have a headplate at all or if it would be an NY2 one...

I know it's very difficult to find these things out, but just wondered what the current thinking is about numbers of Volks Limiteds...

JennyNemesis: I really like the wig you choose for your Tony. Is his outfit from Luts? I remember when Luts used to make cool stuff like that, now they do not. Tony's eyes are very wide! I wish Volks would release Tsukasa in SD17 form!

No, Laika's outfit in that last pic was cobbled together out of various bits-and-bobs I have lying around the house. It's a posture-collar + a bolero-jacket that come together to look like an old LUTS set from 2005. ^^ I think the bolero was Tata's Paradise, and Fishcake made the collar. His hair is an old LUTS wig, though. Those enormous wide eyes are 18mm Volks acrylics (Metallic Baby Blue); I've never found another brand of metallic eyes that gives just the right frosty gleam besides those old plastics.

Shame that LUTS don't do the full-gonzo j-rock look anymore! They did it so well.

Sometimes I think Volks just likes to see how long they can keep people wishing aloud for SD17 Tsukasa....

 

Yes, Izam, my Tony is default too! His faceup is very vivid, but his black hair tends to tone it down a bit. And Hiro (my Link) was my first BJD, and he is still my favorite. He has tons of character, and I like everything about him (even when he is a bit of a jerk!). He is earnest, smart-alecky, inquisitive, cocky and just innocent enough to not be too worldly.

My Tadashi is exactly the same way! He wears bangs, and I am always sweeping them back from his face. His forehead is all shiny now, and so is his nose. But his face paint is all still intact and beautiful.

I can totally see the resemblance with the two of them sitting next to each other. The Sch B makes a cute boy. Seeing all these SD boys makes me want one as a friend for my Kimmie!

bellalupina, here's some School A spam for you. My Gavreau is an oldskin head from around 2002.



There's no School like an old School. Gavreau has more snark than all my other BJDs put together. And ever since I got him, I've never seen the School A head the same way! I used to think they were kind of sweet and boyish... but no. Not any more! A fun fact about Gavreau... he has brown hair, but he bleaches it.

@bellalupina, I have more School A spam for you... Kaiya is modded, but he still has plenty of attitude. ^^ He and Gavreau look so different from each other, but they're both the same beautiful face. Other A-heads I've seen are super gentle and doe-eyed. It's such a versatile sculpt.



PS. @ MT: Are you putting Hajime on SD17? : Or are your boys already having to draw straws & fight over the bodies in the house as it is? Let's just say that if you do swap the bodies around, the thought of Soshi on a Graffiti body dressed in fishnets & a corset is making my panties catch fire. (Right now. *POOF* Look, there they go.)

 

I have seen it and it definitely works. In fact I think his head is too big for SDGr body O_O

 

OLD thing - as of 2 years plus ago I was told that Scar cannot be done

Some of the One Off has painted Scars as special face up. I was told that it could not be ordered

but freckles, beauty mark those are fine

 

Get out of my head, lol. I suspect my Saitou will take the spare SD17 body here and someone else will inherit his Gr body.

 

JennyNemesis, Kaiya looks very soulful. Was his mouth modded a bit? His faceup is beautiful.

Yes, I think his mouth might've been modded a bit-- he's a Satoko Ohno repaint, and she always painted lips just-outside-the-line like that, so it's kinda hard to see what's modded & what's paint. ^^ But I know the cheeks have been sanded and I believe the nose is a tad thinner. A-Head has such big features, there's a lot to work with.

 

Kaiya always looks eager to go do things. His little fan is precious.

Yesssss! I have a spare 17 sized body I am hoping will work. *fingers crossed* I don't think I could ever take Soshi off his 17 body unless it was for a temporary photo fiasco. That body looks way way too good in a suit for me to deny him the glorious-ness that is wearing them. The poor boys are somewhat body fighting right now I'm afraid. Poor Seth's body was snatched for when Date showed up and my Shiro lost his due to loosing a coin flip with another boy. If Hajime can upgrade to 17 then dear Seth will have a body again, so I hope he will forgive me. ^^; (Ugh, that means I need to find him a new wig asap, oh bah!)
You have made me painfully aware of a clothing abomination around here, I don't think I've actually bought true fishnets yet! I have some net ankle/knee socks, but no tall stockings. I'm not sure exactly how this has occurred, but it must be rectified soon. I really need to work up to a splurge for the guys now that I finally have my shoe situation almost taken care of. XD

It's good to know I'm not alone in my scheming! :3 This must be a side effect of our boys traveling overseas together again. heh

waiting for may 1st myself... volks' twitter has some pics of the new standard girls... so cute! i'm really having a harder time deciding now. i didn't like chiyo at first but seeing the new pics of her, i really like her eyes.

 

Does anyone know if a SD13 head can fit on a 70cm body and which one? I would like my Schoool A and F16 to be on a taller body so they can come to the party with the rest of my big boys.

 

Kuina, I know people have used popo and spirit doll bodies for taller hybrids. April story is another good option. Really, you should just need to find the neck circumference and stick with volks-matching companies. Mostly I've seen those particular heads on 65cm bodies if that helps.

She's so pretty! I admit, as the years go by, I grow to love the four sisters sculpt more and more.

 

I love the older Volks dolls myself as well. I wish I could figure out how to do cool camera skills like that rianne. I was feeling pretty down still from this cold I have, so my Volks girls had lunch in today.

I just thought of something. On the old site you could still search previous releases even if they were out of stock. I bet those won't be archived on the new site. I really wish I would have saved certain pictures & names/product #'s before. There's nowhere to see old releases of Volks outfits/shoes is there?

 

Kuina, I've tried my Sch A on a 70cm Dollzone body and it seemed to work well, I can try him again when I get home and get a picture for you.

I just visited Tenshi no Sato yesterday and saw the two Dollpa Girls in person.
Both of them are very pretty. And all of the F-30-32 MSDs were so cute...

There'll be 20 in total(!!!). It's nice to see Alice and shadow-skin Shiro up there... can't wait to see the rest!
