[Adopted] Volks Mini Super Dollfie Discussion (MSD) Part 1 (Ready for Wiki)

I was just wondering, Does anyone know how much a Volks MSD weighs?
If not can someone weigh one?

My Volks MSD Toppi weighs a little over 2 and a half pounds with no wig, clothes or shoes.

 

Does anyone know if MSDs and SDCs can share hands? I really want the SDC holding hands for my minis but I'm not sure if they would fit right.

Thanks I really think Volks outdid themselves again. I'll be testing out wigs and taking more pictures this weekend. She really fills a few of my longings for other dolls. Her nickname is Pi because she was a birthday present and i was born on Pi day.

One of my projects when I get some time is to put together comparison for all the FCS orders I did.

For Piper's order i ended up with a lengthy FCS form chock full of descriptions. I also gave them a short typed up word document that I had prepared with a bit of information on doll personality and age plus reference sheet.

I haven't seen much f-21 or f22 on Y!J but I do agree that the f21 seems to be more popular in DoA because of the resemblance to Renee. So far I think there is only one person in DoA that has an f22 an it's a girl.
The headmold is Sato only so it does make it a harder head to get.

Having seen one in person I have to say it i a really cute headmold and has a really nice and different eyeshape for Volks

I should post a photo of the body and the head the next time I get a chance (finals week approaching and all). I didn't want her to look as mature as my SDCs, but a little more mature than a regular MSD girl.

 

Hello everyone~ I feel like you guys would be the ones to ask; Do Blue Fairy outfits fit MSD bodies? Especially the pants.

 

My SDC body arrived for Naomi. It's really cute, but I'm going to have to suede the torso.
But I did get her to stand on one foot. So, nice for posing

I've been searching for two days, sorry if this has been asked before. Does anyone know if the translucent ears from Iv would work on the MSD Miisha head? I'd love to see more ear options for her.

 

The soom Iv is a yo-sd sized head so it's very unlikely. They are unlikely to fit over any other ears without modding because they are made specially to fit over the Soom yo-sd head ears.

I got her the new peapod MSD ballet feet (resin match is great for the 2009 batch! ).

 

hi! I have a question about the volks msds so figured to ask you guys. See i was looking at those ballet feet and they look so awesome that i wanted to get a volks to go along with it! (not soon though..saving up though :3 ) but, while browsing around looking for things about them, i saw someone say they are "glowy". Does this mean they are french resin or of similar kind???

 

If you are talking about the peapod ballet feet, no they are not made of french resin (at least I'm pretty sure, lol). Volks pureskin resin has a "glow" to it compared to older Volks resin. The peapod feet match recent batches of Volks pureskin (2009 pureskin UV protect matches really well). >_< I hope that helps.

 

Kairi (Schulze) is back from getting a faceup and neck mod! He is a Lati blue hybrid. His character is supposed to be in his late teens early twenties so I needed him to be much taller than someone like Tsubasa (Mihmi) who is 16 (but appears 14). On the Lati blue body, Kairi stands just over 50cm!

 

OMG so cute! The wig looks adorable on her too!

I received a doll yesterday and the default eyes she came with were PERFECT for Kairi! How lucky was that?! They were glass too (I prefer glass >_<).

 

The faceup artist was angeltoast! Oh and I forgot to mention that my F-21 is shipping soon! She will have robot and cat ears (the cat ears were just for kicks, she's supposed to be an alien/spaceship mechanic). I chose 20mm eyes for her but I can't remember the hands! I know I got 2 pairs, one gently open and one gently closed (so I can try and get her doll scale tools).

I'm having a little trouble with shoes for her. Most of my 1/4 scale shoes were bought for my RS and DZ dolls so she's been wearing Honey Bea's sneakers. Honey Bea is my SDG. I'll have to buy her very own shoes later.

So my first Volks dolly arrived a couple weeks ago, and was finally ready for photos a couple days ago. Here's my MSD Ken, Nova!



I'm still figuring out clothes and a wig for him, I wasn't planning on getting him until I found him for a great price on the marketplace, so everything he has is extra stuff the others don't wear (the red is about the only wig here that fits close to correctly, they all don't come down far enough on his head)! Does anyone know if Guessdoll clothes might fit him? I'm thinking of asking for the Cagey set for Christmas, and it would be great if at least part of it would fit him. (I tend to split up outfit sets and scatter them through my group.)

Hmm, I have taken my girl to friends' houses and doll meets... but I don't really carry her around otherwise. Though, I think I'd like to if I had a bag big (and safe) enough for her to be in ^^

I've had my Volks MSD about two months now! But I'm only just joining this thread~. I have her on an SDC body, but she's still an MSD mold (F-20 Sato Only). She's getting a new wig soon. I have to say, she's the first doll I've REALLY bonded with. I don't know why that is. She was a complete impulse buy, but I feel so lucky to have her. ^^

And ever since I got her, I've been paying a lot more attention to msds-- Volks in general! I just... forgot there were discussion threads for the sizes!

I love the f20. One day I hope to have a second Volks MSD, either an f21 or f20.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeee! I love Naomi! She is WORKING those gorgeous green eyes and dark brown hair!

Gah all the adorable F-20 spam is killing me! XD It took me MONTHS to choose between F-20, F-21, and F-22! Finally I chose F-21 because she was supposed to be sNarfie's (Renee's) little sister and I think they looked the most alike.

Finally I got a good couple shot where they both looked good! >_< I love how tall Kairi is on his Lati blue body (my ID Lilith is 45cm so Kairi on his MSD boy body would have been too short for her. He's about 51cm on this body)! I will have to post some Tsubasa and Tookie spam next time!

CathyM; Wow! I ADORE your Mihmi! That face-up and dark wig... I wouldn't have thought of it! But it works so well for her! She used to be on my wishlist but I took her off. XD Now I might have to rethink that.

Scissorhand; I, too, recommend going through Volks themselves. Pants can be tricky- I've found it's best to buy them directly from the company if possible.

My f-20 got a new wig yesterday ^-^ I can't wait to take some pictures of her in it! (Well, I have pictures, I just haven't bothered to edit them so I can post them). Poor girl needs some more clothes, but I love the outfit I gave her so much.

 

It's such a long time since I posted on this thread but I love to look through at all the lovely MSD girls and boys on here! Anyway, I took a couple of photos of Taliah, my lovely Toppi, so thought I'd share this close up....she's looking very miserable in this one....perhaps she'll cheer up when she sees I've shown her photo on here!

Aaaaw thank you! I can't wait to see how your girl looks in her new wig! F-20 is adorable! I thought of getting one, but as a boy. Right now it's either F-20 or F-22 but I know I want this one to be a boy. >_<

She's such a sweetie! I think she looks more shy than miserable! Gah Toppi and Mihmi are one of those pairs that enable each other...like if you have one of them you WANT the other! 0____0

Thank you guls! You're right, she is quite a shy girl, and very quiet and undemanding, which is good because I have enough of the demanding types here already!

I agree that Mihmi and Toppi work well together. I always wanted a Toppi, from the first moment I saw her but every time one became available, I either couldn't afford her or there was something else that prevented me from getting her. So one day I bought Mihmi instead.....and she was indeed beautiful, but I still hankered after my Toppi. Then a Toppi came up for sale at a fairly reasonable price, a price I could afford but only if I sold someone.....so Mihmi went. However, it wasn't till my Toppi arrived that I realised why she was so reasonably priced.....the seller had failed to disclose that she was a bit of a mess. Her faceup was ruined by very dodgy freckles...they'd not looked bad at all in the photos and the seller had told me that they weren't sealed and could be removed easily. Yeah right! They wouldn't budge. And the body was awful, it had been blushed to within an inch of it's life in PEACH paint.....no word of a lie...PEACH! She looked awful. And on top of that, she stunk of smoke. So I just took her completely to pieces, removed the faceup and the awful blush. It was such a job, and finally I had this shiny clean bundle of pieces without a faceup. I managed to snag a slot with one of my favourite faceup artists and off went the head. However, the faceup artist lost her desire to paint and after 6 months of waiting, Toppi's head went to another faceup artist, who did this beautiful faceup for me.
I feel that Toppi was meant to be here though....and although sometimes I do regret selling Mihmi as they work so nicely together, I do have my favourite, so I'm happy!!!!

dambuster01 OMG what an ordeal! 0___0 Shame on the seller for not disclosing any of that information! I've had my share of epic dolly drama (*coughReneecough*). I actually received a doll from the manufacturer (Bambicrony) that was in p*ss poor shape (and the company of course refused to admit those were flaws). I really did adore the doll so I kept her and finally found someone to work on the doll for me (after a year of searching).

I think the dolls that get so much attention and love end up being the closest to our hearts so I really hope your Toppi feels loved and welcomed here! The sweetheart really deserves it!

Thank you for the kind words about little Noelle... she is such a quiet little girl and doesn't get much attention. And yes, that is a painting in the background. I used to be an artist....before the BJDs took over my brain, lol!
