[Adopted] Supia Girls Discussion Thread Part VII

May 12, 2015

    1. Indeed, she is stunning :)

I got shipping notice on my first order of a DJ body (yaaaaay!)

Say, my first body order, which I paid in full, said something like "credit received" before it changed to "on shipping" this morning. But my second order was on layaway. I forgot what it said, but a few days ago I made a final payment and it now says "item processing". So my question is, does that mean they didn't start making my doll until I made the final payment? That makes me sad, because it means they won't be shipped for a long time :(

    2. @IngieBee, congrats on your shipping. Supia does state about their layaway that they'll only start casting once the final layaway payment has been completed.

    3. Well, when I got my Rosy I already knew that it was a mistake getting her without faceup. I wanted it to be cheaper because I tought that my mum would be able to do it herself since she's very talented at stuff like that. But she tried twice and she didn't want to do it anymore because she wasn't happy with the result ^^ So Rosy stayed without faceup for 7 years and it's only now that I'm trying it myself :) and it's very hard but I do enjoy it even if I'm never satisfied. And I still have a long way to go in loving my doll but I'm getting there :)

      @Viivi haha thanks :)

I'm finally having an idea of what I want Rosy to be like: I get inspiration from Yennefer from the Witcher and I think she will be perfect like this.

And guess what... I'm getting Roda head from the marketplace!!! I'm so happy :D even though Rosy and Roda will have to share the body before I can find a new one :p

    4. Thank you @satyrsmoon , I did finally find that info on their site, and I've finished crying, but haven't broken the news to my daughter yet, :( Maybe I can give it to her as a birthday present next summer, LOL I see it's taking 5 months at this moment for dolls with faceups :(

@arone congrats on the Roda head! Will she come with a faceup? I must say, since I started getting arthritis and my latest attempts at faceups was horrible, I did get an artist to do my unfinished heads. It may cost a lot, but now that i have a few professionally done faceups, I must admit that they look SOOOO insanely perfect, so much like .... I don't know how to describe it, but people like AngelToast are such perfectionists that you will not find any flaws in the faceups. They look like ... I don't know, jewels?

    5. @arone Oh that's awesome! :) I can't wait to see them!

    6. Errrrrgh, I'm eyeing the Dreaming Rosy head release with extreme desire. I would love to have a Dreaming Rosy head as an optional head for my Rosy. The problem is, my Rosy is a tan from the 2010 special release of "Tan Rosy," before tan became available as an option (and was called ironically enough, "Original Tan," but totally didn't match the Rosy Tan). The one that was a little ashy or weirdly orange or whatever. I have no idea if the current tan will match her at all, or be a complete mismatch.

    7. @Kiyakotari - that's always the question with tans, isn't it? Well, it's kind of the question with all batches of resin, but I feel like it's the most pressing with tan, since "tan" can mean pretty much anything

randomly, I got Taline (my MDR Olathe on the Supia DJ body) a bellydancer outfit from Whispering Grass, and, of course the outfit is exquisite (having seen her other stuff I knew it would be) but I'm most delighted that I could get Taline to hold the dance poses I wanted for my shots. I fell in love with the look of this body for my dancer and I'm pretty stoked that it's equal to the poses I want it to hold

I know I could just cave and get an "invisible" stand, but I really like that she (and all my other dolls) are actually holding the poses I photograph them in :D

    8. @Kiyakotari wow, I think your tan looks perfect! Your Rosy is beautiful! Maybe you need to get a full doll :huh?: ?

@Girrl is that the DJ body?

    9. Hi Everyone, are Supia girls more of a small (8-8.2 inches) for wigs?? ... or regular (8.5-9 inches)?

    10. Sorry, I can't help, I don't have one yet?!?! Anyone???^^^

    11. My Maia (Muse sculpt) actually wears a size 7/8 in Monique wigs but I'm not sure about other brand wigs. What will make a difference in fit is the stretchiness of a wig. A slightly smaller wig will fit if it's stretchy enough but if theres little or no stretch to a wig you'll need an exact head size or a slightly larger wig size to fit correctly. I hope this makes sense and sorry for the long ramble ;)

    12. No, no - your description was perfect; thank you!!!

    13. @Girrl she's a natural! It even looks like her hands are playing invisible finger cymbals. :)

@Kiyakotari do you happen to have either an Elfdoll tan Ruru, or a newer Granado sunshine? Current Supia tan is a very close match to Elfdoll tan, and a shade lighter (but the same hue) as current Granado sunshine. I don't know if that will help.

@arone I hope you enjoy the process of giving your Rosy a faceup. It's a great way to bond with your doll. :)

    14. @Alewife Ahhh, sadly, I don't think I have any Elfdoll tan samples here (I did have a Ruru, but she was the Kio Carolei, not the tan version, and she has moved on). I'll double-check the parts drawer, though! I have Granado Bronze, but not Sunshine. I could compare the Granado Bronze (and Granado Tan) samples that I have here to my Rosy, though, and then compare the Granado color charts to see where my Rosy might fall, in comparison to Sunshine. It's not perfect, but it would at least give me an estimate! Thanks!

@IngieBee Ha ha! I'm sure it would be nice to get a full doll, but if I were to get this head, it really would only be as an optional facial expression for my already existing Rosy. There's not much point for me in getting a full girl.

I may end up just biting the bullet and ordering one of the Dreaming Rosy heads regardless of how it all looks, as long as it's not obvious that the resin is wildly off once I compare her to the Granado resins I have here, and just crossing my fingers.

    15. I think some artists will actually match the resin by airbrushing, so that may be an option?

    16. @Kiyakotari I told you the wrong thing, oops! Granado sunshine is a shade LIGHTER than Supia tan. Also, Granado bronze is a couple of shades darker, but in blushing distance maybe. I don't know if that will help.

Edit: I love the new Heeji head. Adorable lop ears. :D

    17. Oooh, Heej is so cute! And they have her on the new DJ big body! She looks good on it!

    18. Oh my goodness, I love the new body. But I seriously don't have the money for new dolls at the moment. Also, I love the new sculpt, the changeable teeth and tongue is so cute! (:

    19. Loving the new 60cm girl Heeji โค I think those new elf ears are adorable and wow, she has removable teeth and tongue.

    20. @Girrl that outfit is gorgeous !!!! it looks so fitting on her, that body type really is perfect for it!

    21. Removable tongue! That could be a lot of fun. :)

    22. The Rosy sculpt has really grown on me so I am considering getting her. I just received Haeun and I feel like getting her a friend or sister! It's sort of an excuse for me to get another gorgeous Supia sculpt and the large bust body.

    23. Rosy is gorgeous! You'll get nothing but support here, LOL.

    24. @IngieBee Hahaha, that is good to know! :XD: It would be great if I could add her to my collection next year.

    25. It's also good to know next year is only a couple of days away, :wiggle:lol::evilplot:

    26. I like the way you think. ;)

    27. Earlier is never a bad thing! :mwahaha I am going to set a budget for Rosy so I can order her once I finish paying for my current doll on layaway (or until the next promotion that catches my eye).

    28. I'm back on a dolly diet, but I have so much I want to do with all my dolls, I don't need any more :) now that Xmas is over, my room is clearing back out and I can set my things back up for sewing and painting :)

      • x 1
    29. @IngieBee , I should follow your example. I have enough dolly projects to keep me busy from now until doomsday. *_*

I've decided to go with a different wig! As much as I liked the style for her previous wig, it billowed out in an unnatural way and it bugged me to no end. *_* This one feels more fitting for the outfit.

    31. @Maechen that looks great on her :)

@Alewife I'm not that good an example since I made a bunch of orders before the new year! (ducks and hides)

    32. @Maechen she's stunning like this!! It really fits her :)
As for me I received my Roda head and I'm sooooo in love with her, she's amazing <3 her name is Lรฉona

    33. @IngieBee Thank you! :)

@arone Thank you! I rarely see images of Roda so it is nice to see her. :whee:

    34. @arone , your Rhoda is awesome! I love her faceup!

    35. Thank you both :D
I love her faceup too but I don't know who did it since the seller didn't remember ^^'' I had to cut in half her eyelashes tough.. 'they were huuuuge

    36. @arone she is gorgeous! It's so nice to see a Roda.

    37. I never had the chance to buy the old tan but seeing the new tan if it' pretty true to the color I see then it really is a nice shade. I do plan to buy a couple in tan in the future and I'm looking forward to seeing the new tan in person.

    38. Well, it does look nice in that picture? I'm with you all, if it's at least that warm and deep, it should be good?!?!?!

    39. I had always planned to buy a Lina in tan, and I think I like this shade even more. I think she is next on my list to buy. I think the reason it looks pale in some of the pictures and video is the lighting she uses. In the picture you linked, the lighting looks more natural.
I do wonder why she is discontinuing the other shade of tan.

    40. Can someone tell me what the best size elastics would be to restring the original Supia body?

    41. The new tan is beautiful, but I liked the old one too.

      @taixonay probably 4mm?

    42. 4mm sounds a bit big. Maybe 3mm.

Well I found a chart on Soom: the SOOM emporium

It's says 4mm for a Gem, but companies vary in what they use. I can try to check mine's elastic in the morning.

    43. If it's too big, it may not fit inside the limbs either. it's best if you had a piece of the old stringing that you can check? There is a size 3.5mm as well, just so you know??

    44. Unfortunately all my dolls are packed away so I can't check their strings. ):

Thank you all for the responses!

    45. I just played with everyone yesterday and packed them up in new containers, LOL, I'll see if I can get to them. I need to buy cording as well. I just went to JoAnn's Fabrics and although they had it years ago, it appears they no longer carry it :( But my Fairyland Feeple 60 dolls are using 3mm it appears and I think they're comparable in size unless Supia used a much thicker/heavier resin?? I mean, we're talking about the older single jointed 2 part body, right? I actually only have the newer DJ body with 3 body parts (not the massive 65" on hand)

    46. I have my old body out. I just need to get to the end of the elastic to get a good measurement!

    47. Hey guys I'm probably overthinking this a bit but I have a tan supiadoll coming in and I'm doing her face up myself and I was wondering what sealants you guys use on your tan Supiadolls? I have Msc uv flat that I use for my Bjds right now but I keep getting mixed answers on what to use.
So I wanted to ask this thread what everyone uses on their dolls, specifically their tan supia girls

    48. I think the trick is to keep it light, don't be heavy with the MSC. I think that MSC works best?? But I don't do enough faceups to be an expert. However I do have an ebony, very dark skin/resin doll from Iplehouse that I used MSC UV cut on, and she is still looking good after 6 or so years. i think I used MSC sparingly in that she has a base coat, a coat after blushing and a coat after line work, then gloss, that's it. I was not heavy with the coats either. If you have MSC, I would try it out and only change if you run into problems. The weather needs to be nice and dry and not freezing if possible. I hope my info works!

    49. @Justjordy0 I use Purity Seal for all my tan dolls. MSC always made the head lighter than the rest of the body so I stopped using it.

Here's a link to an old picture of Carmen, my tan Roda. Her face-up was done with five layers of Purity Seal.
      Carmen

You should try what you have on hand first to see if you'll get good results. If you don't like how the sealant works then buy a different sealant. It's quite possible that my method for spraying MSC was too heavy handed and that's why I got the results I got.

      Good luck! :D

    50. Thanks @IngieBee and @taixonay! I'll try my Msc first and see how that goes. Luckily it's dry and averages about 70 here in the winter haha

Btw @taixonay your Roda is lovely!

    51. I gotta pop in and say Carmen is just beautiful, @taixonay ! Wow!

    52. Thank you @Justjordy0 and @IngieBee! Sadly she's blank, disassembled and packed away right now. I'm hoping that once spring comes I can give her a face-up similar to the one she has in the pictures. I miss her and my other dolls lol.

    53. @Justjordy0 I have good luck with Zoukeimura (from Volks). It doesn't leave a misty haze the way MSC can.

    54. Hey guys, I just noticed that Supia posted Dreaming Rosy with faceup! I got the head with the 65 cm dj body, and ordered her with a smokey faceup (and a Hamin with the body) I'm not sure which will go on the big body, but anyways, I think she looks so pretty!

      LOVE, SUPIADOLL

      Did anyone else get her??

    55. @IngieBee I think the face-up looks gorgeous. She's very tempting to buy! :D The light tan images look quite nice as well.

    56. Yes, the light tan is gorgeous. I sent a message asking if it was still possible to change my order to light tan because it's so beautiful. I doubt I can, but it doesn't hurt to ask, eh? :D

    57. Well, Supia got back to me earlier today and said that they haven't made my dolls yet, so I was able to change my incoming 65cm body and Dreaming Rosy head to tan! I'm really happy!!!

My Hamin head will stay NS and she will go on my Supia DJ body which I already received :). And my daughter chose a white skin sj body with Eunice head, so we will have all three colors :celebrate best of all, they said they should be shipped out in mid February!!! YES! :dance

I am still determining the perfect shade of blue for her eyes, but I am also starting to appreciate more simple clothes because it is so much easier to change clothes! :XD: Luckily everything fits her so far!

    59. Wow, @Maechen , your Haeun looks so dreamy in that dress! Soft Lacy whites, is there anything more beautiful?
