[Adopted] Raccoon Doll Discussion - Part 3

I'm wondering if the Raccoon Man pants will fit on the FID boyos (they'll be a bit long in the leg obviously) and vice versa. I am really looking forward to seeing which items are interchangeable and all that when they start arriving. I'm hoping shoes won't be difficult for our boys. I may try my hand at making some shoes for Julian when I get him though. Like some soft leather boots and slippers with curled toes and things.

Ooh no I hadn't, but it DOES look very nice, doesn't it? The risk is always being the first person to try a hybrid only to discover it doesn't work though... But that is definitely a possibility to think of!

Lol, I love the "lounge handsomely"!!! I rather think that will, indeed, be his chief role in life when I end up getting him - whichever sculpt he ends up being! I rather suspect I will just end up getting an actual male Raccoondoll instead of fiddling about with hybrids - and he will, indeed, just lounge about all day so as not to tower over the girls too much!

Yeah, I also considered Lumedoll, but they just looked too short to me, and I didn't love the body. And since they're discontinued anyway, I suppose that's out! The blog with the comparison pictures was extrememly useful though, so thank you! I was also pondering an Idealian 52 (speaking of sculpts you can never actually find to buy), but I found comparison pics - not sure if it was on that blog or another - and they looked far too tall for me. So that's out too!

Hope you can solve your eye finding dilemma - let us know how you go, as it's always good to find more possibilities - so little choice in that size!

Yes, I did consider Model Delf too! I was dubious though as the neck looked far too thick - and I don't absolutely love the body aesthetics either. Oh well, I think I'll probably just end up dealing with the tall Raccoon body in the end!

 

did you see the aGatti dolls? The are a little bit smaller than the Iplehouse FID males but still taller than the FID girls

@Oliveoil - OMG, I just love your Gene! I love everything about her: freckles, bold eyelashes, lip color, wig--she's amazing.

I also love being able to get back into this website. I've had problems all weekend with DoA freezing up on me.

@TatterPunk - I have pants coming with my Damien so I'll try them on FID to see how they fit.

 

TatterPunk, it will be interesting to see if the guys will be able to share clothes.

@Patrice S I like that wig on Orlagh. Does her name have a meaning? It is a good elf name. She is very pretty.

Meanwhile Lucy (no name yet) is trying on wigs to find just the right look. She'll be my model girl since I only have one coa 1/4 size for my knit clothes so she'll be flexible. I do need to find just the right one for when she's not modeling and is just herself..........

KHolass it sometimes takes a while to find just the right wig. Your knit dress is lovely I especially love the color.

 

Ooh they are pretty cool! I didn't realise they looked in scale, either. I'll have to wait and see what new sculpts they produce - none of the past ones really speak to me, once I checked it out, but the future could be another matter!

@greeneyed-soul Ooh thank you so much for the comparison pics!!! That really makes it clear - wow, they look really good, don't they? But sadly, Soom never seem to produce the Idelean in that size anymore as far as I can tell - so I suppose it's not really worth considering as a possibility. But if Soom surpise me and do release a new sculpt... I'm going to have a hard time resisting!

Ooh! Looks like after the 20th, Safrin is planning to open up a pre order period for their eyes!
I've been looking at the blank heads of the various sculpts that Raccoon has in that part of his site, and I'm thinking I may need Gene also now. I also really like Kate and eventually want her, but that'll be after I get another boy probably. We'll see what sales the holidays bring, then I'll decide what I'm getting once and for all.
I need to stop buying so much food so i can afford my doll habit. . .

 

@TatterPunk I would love to see what you do with a Gene sculpt.

 

@TatterPunk - Thanks for the Safrin news! I'm in serious need of new eyes. I wish Safrin would leave the eyes posted even when there is no order period so that people can at least see the available colors and calculate what they need.

 

I believe you can find the pictures of the colours on their FB page. I'm pretty sure they wrote at some point that they couldn't figure out how to make the things be on the website when they weren't offered. Not sure why, but yes. The FB should have the colours mostly. It's just not as easy to browse as the website ones.

 

Thanks for the info. I'm not on FB, so unless someone gives me a direct link I can't go to a page and even then I'm limited to the page I land on. Guess I'll wait until they open for orders.

Thank you @vermont chick . Yes, I'm very new to the bjd hobby and am combining my designing of knit and felt wearables and patterns into something new to challenge me.
It's so much fun and so quick compared to human size!!

 

I think Julian is gonna have one eye in the Bold Blossom colour, and one eye in Corona. I'll be getting a pair of both though cause Echo needs the other Corona eye. Billie's happy with her current eyes for now. . at least this means I can hold off a little while longer before I decide to get eye making supplies! Like maybe till after the holidays. Cause then I'll hopefully have my doll buying done for the year.

Also, I am nosy and sometimes go to the Q&A and see if anything interesting hasn't been locked. . . today I saw that Dark Mocha is gonna be available again starting the 13th of Nov which is when their Winter Event starts! So. . tonight they should be setting that up I suppose!

I need opinions. I am drawn to Beech Nina. She is very dramatic for my normal collection. Yet I really like her. My question is... would getting her in Milk Mocha change her look that much? She is Sweet Mocha in photos. I get nervous changing what is pictured. No adventure here! I can make changes with Iplehouse but I am not familiar with Raccoondoll. Thanks for any thoughts.
Nina at the Beech

 

I don't have Beech Nina but this is my elf Lucy who is in milk mocha and she was pictured in sweet mocha on the Raccoon site. She's pretty much as dramatic in the lighter resin as the sweet mocha.

 

@Oliveoil - Nina at the Beach is gorgeous. If I had unlimited funds I would get her. Raccoon's photos make her look like milk mocha, maybe because her surroundings are so bright, so actual milk mocha shouldn't look very different from what you see on the website. Go for it!

 

@Patrice S Oh wow! Lucy is stunning. You sold me. I love the milk mocha color. I actually like it better than the Sweet Mocha on model. Did you make the top?
I hope it is not a super long wait. Iplehouse has spoiled me with a five week wait. Raccoondoll said it is a two month wait but some have waited longer.

@vermont chick I agree she looks like milk mocha, but the reply was Sweet Mocha. I have the funds, I just needed a little push! Thank you.

 

This must be a sign...I cannot login Raccoondoll. I even tried to make a new membership but nothing happens. Is anyone else having the same trouble?

Thanks @eland I sent them a message. I tried from my iPad and desktop with no success. I even tried to create a new one and I get a message about duplicate ID.

 

How frustrating - when you had finally decided on your girl... I'm sure they'll be able to fix it for you. Hopefully it won't be too long


Edit: speaking of waiting... still no sign of the Winter event. *rolls thumbs*. I mean, I don't need to spend any more money, I really don't. But curiosity kills me.

I think I found the auction you're talking about. Those photos actually do a pretty good job of showing how the Sweet Mocha skin tone photographs differently depending on the light.

I like Robbie--but I'm not ordering another guy until after Damien arrives. I want to see how I like him first.

 

Robbie is quite nice-looking. I’m seeing hints of Lawrence and Leonard, but his sculpt doesn’t look so much like just one of Raccoon’s Iplehouse boys. He’s still too tall.

But I can get my Daisy! Finally! Now to decide on Milk Mocha or the new Mocha...

 

@Saphariel I'm in the same boat. Being new to the bjd hobby and finding my Lucy, now Lucia, helped but when I first saw Daisy I was absolutely smitten. This is nuts! I had no dolls in August and now I have five, one on the way and contemplating another because Daisy is so hard to find...................aaaaarrrrrrrgggghhhh!

 

@KHolaas I did a very similar thing. I'd sworn off dolls for years, then I, um, went down like a house of cards in a hurricane buying six dolls in three months.

I kept looking at other Raccoon girls because something about Daisy's blank head still gives me the screaming creeps, but I like her faceupped. I don't want to wait another half year for her to become available either!

Our sad wallets can hang out drinking together.

 

I know! My bank to PayPal transfers are coming/going in droves..........I better sleep on it.

It's the forehead that gets me. She looks wonderful with faceups, but blank her forehead looks odd to me. That said, I'm sort of torn on what I want to do. On the one hand, I think Robbie is quite lovely, but without seeing him blank I wouldn't be able to decide to get him. . . the free shipping is trying to get me though lol. On the OTHER hand, I need to see what Iplehouse does. . and I keep eying those sleepy heads too. >__<.

Wow, that was nice and quick, a new boy sculpt already!
Pity he's still not the one for me - or rather, lol, just as well, considering I just spent my doll money on the two girls recently! Damn it, and if I'd waited, I could have got free shipping - but you never know with limited releases, so oh well.

The new Mocha skin tone is lovely!

...Damn, I just worked out that the event goes until the end of December... so if I wait until then, I MIGHT be able to afford another doll with my Christmas work bonus! Oooh! I could get a Mocha girl! Which I should not do, I should instead save up for an eventual boy, but...uh, I might anyway??? The temptation!!!

 

I just noticed about the sale going on through dec. 31st, too. that saves me a lot of mental fussing.
It gives us time to see what other companies offer and time to save up.

 

I think it’s the forehead with her fairly flat face. With her blank photos being desaturated and lit rather unflatteringly, my hubs and I both said “alien” when we saw her. She photographs so prettily when put together though! I wish I could visualize faceups on blank sculpts. I always have to cobble together existing ones instead.


Robbie’s smile is adorable, and that body looks great in that uniform. If I could just squish him three or four centimeters...

The 1/4th size Window Seat I ordered on etsy is finally all put together. I think the scale works well on this one definitely.

 

Damn. I like Robbie’s face better! I should have waited. No. It’s fine. I’ll give Damien and awesome faceup. Because he’s gorgeous too.

Thank you ! I'm really happy with that window seat, even though it took so long to get to me. I'm still on the fence if I'm gonna get the piano or not though. I'd really like to be able to create one on my own, it's just a matter of figuring out methods and scaling and the like.

 

I saw a great tutorial on YouTube but it was for miniatures so scaling is a must
