[Adopted] Raccoon Doll Discussion - Part 2

Two body types for boys would be AMAZING. I'm hoping to get one Raccoon boy and one FID boy for the band too. And yeah, Echo's alive. She has some bad things after her so she decided she didn't want a band full of living people who could get hurt if the bad things showed up. . so she raised some musicians from the dead. Billie's gonna be more psychobilly style than Echo's straight up goth. Not sure on Simon (the eventual drummer) and the bassist (who will hopefully be a Raccoon boy) yet.

 

Anybody order any of the newish clothes from Raccoon Doll? I ordered a few items...but it hasn't shipped yet. (I think I am spoiled at how fast Iple ships out clothing orders. LOL)

And I know I'm in the minority...but I enjoy photographing the lighter resins best. I'm not sure why. But they are easier for me. I do mostly indoor photography so maybe that has something to do with it.

 

The clothes I ordered right before I ordered my dark mocha Daisy came with her so they're not too fast with clothes.

 

The only clothes I've ordered came with dolls, but I'm guessing that a) perhaps one of the items you ordered isn't ready and it's holding up the rest, and/or b) nothing is shipping this week because of the holidays in Korea. Just a thought.

I also do mostly indoor photography and I prefer the lighter resins, too. My only problem is in photographing different color dolls together. The camera's light meter reads the darker doll and the lighter doll washes out. I haven't quite figured out how to compensate for this in Photoshop.

 

@vermont chick , do you find that it's drastic colour differences that give you problems or do less drastic ones give you problems too? Echo is Iple WS, so I'm wondering if I will have issues when photographing her with a Milk Mocha doll. .. I am sure my camera has settings to make up for that, but I don't know how to use em yet 0_o.

 

White and Milk Mocha might not be too far apart. It's hard to say without having seen Milk Mocha in person. My biggest problems are in shooting Iple's very pale normal next to their real skin. (I don't have anything darker.) My camera has scads of settings that I've never used. I don't know if it's because I'm too impatient or too lazy to learn.

 

I think I'll risk it. I'm pretty impatient and lazy, but I'm sure I can figure it out if I absolutely need to. Either way there's gonna be colour differences since Echo's wardrobe is pretty monochromatic leaning to black and Billie's probably gonna have a little more colour. Not to mention that I'm thinking on making her platinum blonde with blood red streaks. So, the Milk Mocha should be the least of my worries there lol.

 

Look to see if you have a spot meter. Then point it at a spot in the scene that is on the lighter side. Or you can center the light doll in the view finder and keep the darker skinned doll off to the side and then crop the picture for the composition you want.

 

Thanks @Patrice S and @vermont chick - I don't think I've ordered just clothing from Raccoon before...so I didn't know how long to expect stuff to ship. I hope it's soon.

 

Not to rain on your parade, but black clothing absolutely sucks up all the available light. I rarely photograph my dolls wearing black because it's so hard to balance it against the skin colors. Even using a gray backdrop to focus on, I still get weird stuff when I attempt to correct colors in Photoshop. I think I need a new camera.

 

Hahaha, and because Iplehouse provides SOOO much black clothing versus colors, I was getting enraged that all my SR dolls looked whiter than white in my photos. Now I know how to mitigate it with future dolls.

 

Funny I haven't had problems with black clothes with any of my dolls. Maybe cause I'm used to it so I just automatically have my settings so it compensates? No idea. Only time I've had any real problems with washing out is with lighting using my LEDs at night, and I figured out the settings I needed for those. It'll probably be a little more complex with different skintones, but it's a challenge I'm willing to face.

 

My Mika finally has a nice wig that came in from Ebay, fast shipping and a nice shade of red for her. Now if only I can find some more clothes for her, Raccoon hardly has any instock.

 

No news about the guys yet... Cause i heared, that they were planned to get released in May

I asked a bit ago and they gave me the same response word for word as they'd given someone before only with June replacing May. So I think they just copy and paste the response due to the language thing, but yeah, not May. We'll see what they say in June.

 

Am curious now. Cause... I have Iplehouse FID Mari and Racoon Intimate Nana. Ordered a FID Lawrence but he was not meaned for me- or them. To me, he wass too muscular and pinheaded. So - lets hope the raccoon dudes turn out better

 

I really hope the guys are released soon, because every time Raccoon gives us an estimated date and then fails to deliver, I buy a doll from another company. I can't keep doing that!

 

LOL! I had to laugh because I have been a bit guilty of the same. I really wish he would quit stringing us along and introduce the guys already. It's frustrating that every time we are getting close to the time we are told he will be available that the date gets pushed back yet another month. I wonder what the problems are in bringing him to market?

 

I think he must be a perfectionist. If he doesn't 100 percent love it, he probably won't release it. All I can say is, it had better not have Iplehouse ankles!

 

I can totally understand that. I also think that it'll be awesome when it does come out. Of course, by that time we may all have about fifteen more dolls because we keep buying them. . . I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna order my Lucy this weekend. Layaway obviously. I think that the new doll will at least sate some of the restlessness in my wait for the boys.

 

my Racoon Nana and Iple Fid Mari are sitting here and wondering if a guy gonna join them or not. The Fid-guy i had got victimized to the fact, that my car needed an expensive repair (and to be honest, i did not like him very much) so he had to go. And now they are lonely
So then- lets hypnotize the homepage and see if they are quicker than Iplehouse with the next fid-round

 

We've been disappointed so often that--much as I hate to say it--I'll bet we see the next round of FIDs before we get a Raccoon guy. Come on, Raccoon! Prove me wrong.

 

Is clicking on Raccoon's website every day and loading the Men's page hypnosis? Because I'm doing my part. :/

Aand I hit the order button on my Lucy! I'm getting her on Layaway, so it'll be a couple months, but YAY. I ordered her in the Milk Mocha with the glamorous body (I love that it's called that and not big butt. . way more body positive) and small bust. Now I have to figure out how to make a doll size piano 0_o.

and another question: I wonder, if anybody has a milk cocoa souldoll vito girl- is this a close match to the racoon sweet mocca skin? think about making a hybrid with a vito body
just wish to be sure, that the head does not look too small on a vito body
can anybody help?
maybe- if its not the same colour- would be fab to see the head on that body as well

 

I don't have any Souldoll Milk Cocoa dolls but here is my NS Daisy on a NS Vito girl body. To me the head is too small especially since the Vito girls do not have big heads.

I've seen the Souldoll Milk Cocoa resin at a dollmeet and it's a beautiful color but it's unlikely to match the Sweet Mocha as it was a lot darker than Iple realskin.

Am grumpy now. I travel to the Green Dolly Day in Barcelona. it´s a dollfair and Souldoll told to attend. But now they cancelled. Boooooooo! Cause there is a head I like and thought to build a hybrid. Now am save of doing that

Has anyone noticed that Raccoon's re-release of the BeBe line runs until June 18th? Dare we hope that the male dolls will debut around that time? The fact that he's re-releasing existing dolls with no changes leads me to believe that he is indeed working on the men. Please please please...!

or is this just so win some time to work on the men meanwhile?I hope so, cause last fall turned into May and- nothing yet.

cause- we are all waiting for Raccoon-men here. And a lot of us bought fid guys as well (Guilty- me too, but I did not like him and he lives with some raccoon ladies and a fid girl now) but... Think its kind of too late to jump on the waggon cause Iplehouse.. Think they gonna release the next fid range soon cause they see, they got a lot of orders. Flickr is full of Mari, Claude, Miho and so on

 

That is what I hope anyway. I will be okay till July since I'll be paying for my Lucy for that long. . . but I reeally hope that this time the estimate was accurate. T_T Really really hope. I wish that he'd give us some sort of progress updates or something!

 

Progress reports would sure ease a lot of the anxiety. Work in progress photos would be heavenly!

vermont chick - Her eyes are Safrin Resin Basics 8mm w/6mm iris in Peacock. I thought they might have been too bright in her brown resin, but I'm liking them more than I thought. ^^

 

They are bright, but if anyone can pull it off, Lucy can. I'm waiting for Safrin to reopen for orders so I can try these for myself. They look good.

 

vermont chick I got those resin-eyes from Safrin and they look very good in person. The colours shine brightly and as they are flat dome or lets say "just the half of a ball" like cheap acrylic eyes are- it is very easy to put them into the eyeholes

If that helps: masterpiece has small eyes as well, think 6mm is the smallest

 

Thanks! I've been considering Masterpiece, as they have some colors I like. If Safrin's colors don't meet my current need I'll go with Masterpiece.

 

they got a lot of colours- so I hope you gonna find suitable ones. Last time they had those up for sale... was hard to chose as there were so many lovely colours. Thought about to order some for my FID Mari there as well cause... she got blue eyes... as a lot of my dolls but would be fab to have something tourquise or so

@Patrice S - Ooo! Love that color. It really sets off her skin tone and works perfectly with her sweater.

I'm actually looking for an amber, maybe leaning towards orange but not a bright orange.

 

I am gonna need to look through Safrin's colours before I decide on Billie's eye colour. I already know I want her platinum blonde with red streaks, but I haven't decided on what eye colour to do. I was thinking at one point dark gray, but that's so dull when there are about a million other colours. Also considering ridiculously pale blue as she's technically a zombie.

 

I'm pretty unhappy right now because I noticed the sealant on my dark mocha Daisy has started flaking off. I thought that problem had been fixed. I've Q & A'd them and we'll see what they say.

Thanks! That's pretty much the color I'm looking for. What size is she wearing? I'd want the next size up because they appear to leave gaps.

 

They are the 8mm with 6mm sized irises and they fit into the eye wells nicely (to me). If you want something perfectly flush from all angles you probably do want to go with the soft glass eyes instead.

@vermont chick Masterpiece has really nice eyes and they're great quality and have beautiful colours, but the iris sizes are really not very reliable at all in my experience. The irises in the smaller ones I got were always much bigger than I liked so I eventually replaced those with Safrin ones.

 

Oh dear, I desperately want to get another Raccoondoll girl - and I even have the money due to selling other dolls! - but also, I want to wait to see what the new guys are like - if they ever arrive! Also - I can't decide which sculpt I'd get if I did get another girl! I love my Laetitia so much - in all honesty, I'd actually be tempted to get another but have her painted/styled differently. And maybe in another skin tone. Oh, decisions!!!! I need a crystal ball to see when the guys will be released and if I should wait or not!!!!

And now on to wild speculation that I hope someone can help with - can anyone think of a YoSD sized doll that would work with the Raccoondoll proportions? I keep wondering if Saintbloom would work - they seem to have much smaller heads than most YoSD, although the facial features aren't as realistic as I'd like. But they really look like they might work? Planetdoll also looks more in proportion for the body, but not the head I think. Anyone got one of these dolls that they can take comparison pics with??? Or can anyone think of a smaller size YoSD head that could maybe be hybrid-ized with another body to make an in proportion doll? I'd love to hear what people think!

I mean, not that I NEED another kid doll - but I can't let the idea go! Lol, I always end up wanting all my dolls to have kids as well....
