[Adopted] Raccoon Doll Discussion - Part 2

May 27, 2016

    1. I love the new face ups on Gene and the milk skintone too. Love your Nana, Loganberry!

I also like the cute little pin tucked blouse and navy pleated pants. Great wardrobe pieces!

    2. Solveigh done steampunk today and she asked me to share her picture here

    3. I'd like to get some new eyes for my Nana, do they have to be oval? Or would any 6mm eyes work?

    4. @Loganberry Congrats on your beautiful Nana, I love how you are styling her. GLiB oval glass eyes are nice affordable eyes for the Raccoon dolls. I've tried some 6mm round eyes but they work less well in photos as the edges show up more.

    5. Thanks :3nodding: . Do you know of anywhere that sells glib eyes? I've looked before and I don't think I could find anything (i could be misremerering it was a while ago:blush)

    6. @Loganberry I get mine from Dollmore Shop on ebay but other online dealers also stock them (Moderators I'm hoping this is okay to mention a trading site outside of marketplace. Please remove this post if not).

    7. Kemper sells oval glass eyes in both 6mm and 8mm sizes. They are the same as Dollmore, as I have purchased from both sellers.

    8. Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I'll definitely check them out :3nodding:

    9. Yes please, I'm interested ;) (I dont' see where you can chose the small iris option on their website??)

    10. When their eyes are available to order at the beginning of each month, when you choose Safrin basics there is a drop down menu to choose eye size and another for standard or small iris.

I'll get a pic of my girl in the eyes and post it later.

    11. I'm also interested, but when I search "Safrin resin basics" I come up with glass eyes. Do they not show the resin eyes until they are available to order?

    12. She must have reached her maximum amount of orders for April. The Safrin eyes will show up again for pre-orders on May first, I'm pretty sure.

    13. :XD: Oh man... I've been feeling like an idiot, never being able to find these small iris eyes... I am so relieved to hear that they are a time/quantity thing each month! Thank goodness... I will try again next month! Hopefully by then my Sia will be here. It feels like forever. I nearly ordered another one of her in dark mocha, I'm so obsessed with her face.

    14. Here is my Emma in Safrin Basic eyes. These are 8mm eyes with the small iris option in Natural Moldavite. I love my little dolls, but honestly I find the big dolls easier for me to photograph, so sorry for the quality.

    15. I discovered Raccoon doll like a few days ago... and all i can say is woooooow.... new wish list items! xD They're so realistic.

    16. I just got to know about raccoon doll from the bjd news section. Loving Gene in the new skin! If I ever managed to save up, I'll definitely try to get her

    17. Welcome, you two! :D My favorite doll right now is Rei, a Raccoon Mika in sweet mocha skin, and I have another Raccoon girl on the way. They're fantastic. <3

Right now I'm making a scargeear realistic method wig for Rei...*sigh* I'm not a patient person, so it's taking all of my effort to continue every day, LOL.

      • x 9
    18. Good luck with the wig! I also want to create wig according to this tutorial, but I am still in planning phase :XD:

    19. Dark Mocha Daisy arrived today and she's absolutely stunning. Unfortunately that jacket fits really tight and she's the smaller bust. Although with her attitude i don't think she's the kind of girl who minds showing a little bit, no make that, a lot of cleavage.

    20. oooh she looks gorgeous, @Patrice S ! I am wanting one of these girls more and more as I see everyone's. I still think Nana is my fave of the girls, though Gene is looking gorgeous. . . and that milk mocha is looovely. I'm gonna try and hold out another month in case they get the boys out though. I really need a boy this size before I get another girl this size. 0__0. BUT I WANT ALL THE DOLLS!

    21. Can anyone help me with their opinions?
I want to order a body in a new milk mocha skintone and a pair of sneakers.
When I put all this in the cart it tells me the shipping is free. Is that possible or is it a website bug?
Is here anyone who've ordered a body only? How long can it take to make a body?

    22. Did you order in the Winter Event last year? If yes, you may have a free shipping voucher for your account. I think the spend minimum for the voucher is 400 USD though.

    23. @Bluebell Forest, I never ordered a thing from Raccoondoll. I've registered on their website today. It can see my country I suppose but still tells me the shipping is free.

    24. Oh wow...she is stunning! I think she is totally the type that can rock the jacket without an undershirt and lots of cleavage. It's very rhianna. Love it! Gorgeous faceup! Love her skin tone too!

    25. If you pull up either body on the website, they both say shipping is free. I've never ordered just a body, so I don't know if it's always free, but it's free now, so go for it!

    26. I've checked several of the dolls and they also say free shipping!

    27. I get shipping charges when I try. Wierd.
Edit: I only tried with a full doll, Nina. But yeah, at checkout there was shipping.

    28. Me too! Maybe they just didn't update everything after the free shipping event.

    29. I did it! I ordered a body in milk mocha + one pair or sneakers - no shipping charge!
I think I have a nice head for this body. It's a Mona (aka Monica Bellucci) head by Russian company EveStudio. My head is in tan skintone. Their tan has unusual bluish-pink tinge. It's colder and lighter than Iplehouse real skin. New Raccoon skintone looks very close to it. The head's size is similar to Raccoon dolls and Iplehouse FID.
And I have a doll who wants that small gray sneakers too :)

    30. @merrydoll - Congratulations! It's tricky matching skintones online, so I'll be interested to see how this hybrid comes together. Is EveStudio the one that makes realistic little cats and dragons?

    31. Thanks! It will be my first Raccoondoll something. Not entirely a doll but close to it. It would be fun to sew for Raccoondoll body, it looks very well proportioned in clothes.

Yes, EveStudio is known mostly as a cat-maker. But they have human dolls too and rather nice to my mind.

    32. So, I asked and it's looking like they've pushed the men to "definitely" June now. I'm wondering if this is just gonna happen each month? I am still hoping soon though!

    33. Stopping in to share a pic of Laetitia...

I need some more playtime :)

      • x 14
    34. Ooh Laetitia! You're a real knockout!

    35. Wow, @LyanneNZ , She looks absolutely amazing! The colours on that dress compliment her skintone beautifully!
I am now beginning to think maybe I need to get a girl in the meantime to hold me over till the boys finally come out. I can't decide yet if I want Nana or Sarah though! I like them both but for different reasons and looks. She'd be the keyboardist in my FID Echo's band, so, I'm leaning towards Sarah because she'd lend well towards the gothy look I think. Anyone have Sarahs here that they could spam a little? Nana spam is also welcome <3 <3 <3

    36. @LyanneNZ, I like your Letitia's clothes very much!

Small additional to the story with my body order: I received an invoice from Raccoondoll to pay for the shipping. And an e-mail where it was said it was their website problem. But Raccoondoll gave me 5 additional points as a reward.

    37. @TatterPunk - Sarah spam! (Nana is on my want list.) She's with FID Claude and Rex because I know you were considering one of them for your band, too. Sarah is wearing flats, which is why she is so very much shorter than the guys.

    38. Aaaa they all look so amazing! Thank you!
I've been hit with a sudden curve ball and Lucy has bumped out Nana for the Sarah's competition now 0_0. I hadn't really looked at her before, but now that I have, she's looking like she might bump Sarah out of the running. So I ask for Lucy spam as well. . . at this rate I'm just gonna be asking for everyone spam before I order >__>. I am hoping to put in an order before the Milk Mocha event is done, cause I want to get this doll in a colour aside from white for once >__>.

    39. I'm hoping the Milk Mocha is here to stay, because I want to get my first Raccoon guy in this color! The dates given on Raccoon's banner refer to the period when Milk Mocha is free of charge. Otherwise it's $20 extra.

So here is some Sweet Mocha Lucy spam.

    40. Yay thank you, @vermont chick ! She looks fierce! I love the way the sculpt's eyes are. She looks like she doesn't take crap from anyone.
And yeah, I'm just too cheap to pay 20 dollars for extra skintone lol. Which is silly since it's like 413 with shipping to buy a doll there anyway. . . But a girl has to draw the line somewhere!! Lucy is winning. I didn't like her before at first cause she reminded me too much of Stella. . but now that I've seen other angles and a profile view and stared at her blank face for a while, I think I like her more than Sarah! Now the difficult part is not just hitting the BUY button right away! I'll have to be doing layaway, but hopefully I can get her all paid off quickly and then have her home by my birthday (July 15th).

    41. @TatterPunk I hear you on wanting to cheap out on skintone costs  I'm having much the same dilemma. Ever since the milk mocha was announced I've been so tempted to get my Nina... but I also promised myself I'd wait until heads were up for sale again. Decisions, decisions...

Meanwhile, Lucy pic! It's not the greatest, just a quick phone pic before I sent her off to be re-painted. But still, she's been waiting so long... (let's hope I've done this right)

    42. We in this hobby all know that we will find some way to justify our getting a doll even if it's not quite how we've planned it in the beginning.
She is lovely. Who's gonna be doing her face and what are you getting done? I'm sure she'll be amazing! . . upon further study, I think I will definitely be getting a Lucy for Billie my keyboard girl for my doll band.

    43. So very true...
She's actually already done :sweat I just haven't had the time to dress her up and take pictures. (I am terrible). That's not even her wig, I'm pretty sure she hates it. :| But if you want to see a painted floating head, I can post the artist's pic.

    44. Yus! I do! Please do <3

    45. This is her now. I felt bad sending her off at first, but I just couldn't handle the glossiness of her lips. Then one of my favourite faceup artists opened up commissions so I pounced. Now, I'm in love.

    46. AAAH YES! This is one of the ones I saw on Flickr which decided me that I need this sculpt!! The artist did SUCH a good job on her!!!! Such detail! I can't wait to see her all together!!

    47. Haha, that's awesome!! Glad she could tempt someone else to get Lucy! She is freakishly good :abow:
If you do end up getting her, I'll be very excited to see her become your Billie!

    48. Well... I didn't know Raccoon sculpted my favorite Iplehouse boys... so here I am, stalking this thread and waiting until he releases his boys. Figures that I can't seem to look at his website right now to see the girls available all at once, but maybe that's a good thing. Maybe one of his girls will demand to be part of my too-male universe.

    49. They do have some pretty intense powers of persuasion. :sneaky

    50. Good! I'm looking for some girls with personality, not just... pretty features.

Edit: Ugh, VPN shenanigans. I can access the website if I turn it off. Grrr.

    51. Oh wow @eland she looks fantastic! May I ask who painted her? I know I know that style but I can't place it  /fail

      • x 1
    52. Of course! I should have said :doh She came to life at the hands of Rugged Realism.

    53. ahhh, that was one of my ideas who might have painted her! Congrats again, I adore her style!

    54. @eland your girl looks amazing with her new faceup-- the matte lip look certainly suits her!

    55. Milk mocha looks really ̶d̶e̶l̶i̶c̶i̶o̶u̶s̶ nice!! Now I'm really tempted to place an order on layaway... my gosh

    56. Depending on how they're painted, some of Raccoon's girls display some serious attitude. That said, @TatterPunk, you can't go wrong with Lucy. I don't like to pay extra for skin color, myself. On the other hand, colors photograph much better than normal skin. And Raccoon's skin color costs are still less than Iple's. Raccoon's sweet mocha is $30 extra, while Iple's comparable special realskin is $40.

Gorgeous repaint, @eland! Your face-up artist did a fabulous job bringing out both Lucy's beauty and her fierceness.:D

@Saphariel - Welcome to the thread! I'm surprised you haven't been here before. It's funny, I haven't been overwhelmed by the FID women, not even the ones I know Raccoon sculpted (Bianca and Mari), but I now have 5 Raccoon girls and the only thing keeping me from buying more is wanting to save some money for the guys.

    57. Welcome 0__0 It's gotten me too. I'm plotting one of Echo's undead bandmates as we speak. The boys are gonna probably be a bit. When I asked I got word for word what someone else got in response only with a different month, that they'd definitely be out the next month. Sooo, we don't know if that's gonna change to July if someone asks when June rolls around. But, I'm a Red Sox fan. So I'm used to this sort of thing.

What drew me to the Raccoon girls is the different body-type options. I can't deal with just one body type in a group of people with only different heads.

    58. @vermont chick I may have peeked in once before, but I really wasn't interested in the fashion size. I got my first FID only because I couldn't afford a full-size man, and now I'm hooked. So I'm back, trying to see certain of Raccoon's faceups around blinding white hair, skin and backgrounds to see which girl needs to come home, so I'd second the bit about colors being so much easier to photograph. That's why the owner photos here are a big help. :)

@TatterPunk I'm having trouble making my clone boys look different in photos, so I'd LOVE it if Raccoon planned two different boy bodies like he did the girls. I need some skinnier/shorter/taller bodies to contrast with all that beef.

Echo has undead bandmates? Is she alive? Boy, I can't wait to see your band come together. :love
