[Adopted] Or-doll HeYe & Or-doll heads

Magical Rin is he is sooo pretty! And I love his hat.

Speaking of Sui, I just dressed up some of my photos for a cyber meet with friends.
Here is my Ancient Goddess of the Morning Star, Mei Xing...

She has a custom modified Or-doll faceup as I didn't realize who she'd be when I ordered her. Now that I know, the complete smoky faceup would have been perfect after all! Ah, well, she is a beauty either way.

And thanks Cthulhu. Mei Xing looks lovely, her face up is beautiful. Love the lips in particular.

 

I totally agree Magical Rin, Or-Doll gave Mei Xing such a pretty face up. In the promos, it was the eyebrows that hooked me. In real life it is all the blushing details as well as the brows & the lips. We got a new wig yesterday & had to take new photos. So, here's a closeup of that face up.

 

I have a Sui on a Dollstown 18 y.o. body Oriental, an excellent match both proportion- and color-wise.

It is astounding to me how different our girls look! Especially the mouth, wow! Katyok the felted gown you made is soooo lovely. And she does fit that body well.

 

Thanks! You are absolutely right, this sculpt is very versatile, they all look so different. The gown is by Souldoll though, not by me.

Thank you all so much for posting pictures of your beautiful Or-dolls and for sharing information about which body you went with. I finally was able to post a picture of my new Orlando head. He's exquisite! Now I definitely want to get a female or-doll for him. I still haven't found a body for Orlando since I have to save up for a few months but he's currently borrowing my Little Rebel Seven's Dollmore Adam body in NS. It actually fits him and the resin match is very good but eventually I'd like to find him a taller body.

He looks great, I love Kingnut's face ups and the sculpt! I just ordered a Popo 68 for my incoming Azuma in WS (They have a New Year event until 22.2, in case you want to go with that body), and after seeing this I can hardly wait to paint mine.

 

Kingnut Shaffer's faceups are the business. I follow them on Flickr and always stop for a drool when a new picture is posted.

ResinRapture, would you post pictures of your Azuma? I have been lusting after one, but now is not the time to buy dolls. However, I am not sure what the basis is for sculpt releases for Or-Doll. The NS is out of stock, but the WS is still on sale. What does that mean? That they got in a certain number of each, that they sell until gone? Also, do they re-release heads, after the initial PO?

Just calculating whether I can wait until I have money, or whether I might risk missing out completely and need to get selling stuff.

 

@MadamMauMau Sure I will-when I receive him, which will probably take a while. As far as I understand he is only availiable in WS now. I don't know if Asado will make him in NS again. Maybe you find one if you search for Absolute doll or ASD bjd on taobao. Or-doll and Asado's brand ASD are not the same, I figure Or-doll just sells some of the heads.

I guess these one-artist made doll heads are only availiable in coloured skin as long as the normal skin resin lasts. I imagine it's a premixed colour resin to make sure there is some similarity to existing bodies and can be bought or is made according to the expected demand. It's probably hard to get the skin tone right when mixing the stuff for just one head.

I have him on an old Soom SG body currently and it works quite well though his resin is a bit lighter.

 

That is very nice. Thanks for that. It is lacking in detail, which I might find frustrating, but it is an intriguing face.

ResinRapture, didn't know about the Taobao shop. Yes, he is still on there. That is very handy and might mean I have some time to get the money together. Thanks for flagging that up.

 

@BlitheFool Thanks May I ask if the box is made of light wood or is it some solid heavy stuff?
@MadamMauMau Why do you find it frustrating? I think it's actually great because it leaves a lot to interpretation and a head with less very defining detail has a lot more potential in regards to versatile customization.
BTW a couple of pages back Asado posted something, so I guess you can ask directly via PM

 

This is true, but my current obsession is knobbly realism and this works best if the sculpt is finely detailed. Yes, the details can be faked by painting them in, but I prefer to start with them sculpted and emphasise them with the paint.

Anyway, it is a beguiling enough face that I am sure I will sort out something for it.

And that is handy about them visiting here. Thanks. I am already thinking of a name and character for him, which means it will happen. Just a matter of time...

 

@ResinRapture - I believe it's made of pine. It's a pretty nice box with a cool latch on the front- which you can sorta see in the photo. They also threw in eyes- which is nice because his eyes are quite tiny!

 

Thank you all so much. The holidays put all of my plans for my dolls on hold but I hope to start working on them again soon. I want to make Orlando an outfit inspired by nature with a faux fur trimmed cape and leather lace up boots.

I tried to find the Popo 68 body on the link for their website through Wiki but it comes up with casino info first and then a few pictures of some dolls at the bottom of the page but with no links. Then I tried Popodoll.com.cn which lead me to their bjd shop that won't switch to English when selected. Is there another place I should look? The body is beautiful. I'd like to do some research on it and hopefully take advantage of the special pricing. Thank you!

 

@Pony , I've been lurking this thread for a while, but I wanted to jump in and mention that you can get a Popodoll 68cm body from ebay through the seller jeeryama (I bought my NS body from them and they are legitimate Popodoll retailers).

@Pony It's the body suggested for him, I ordered mine from Alice's Collections, but zomjirate is right. The problem with jeeryama's shop is that the ebay version of some countries blocks it, which causes problems with paying and makes the purchase difficult. But she has a webshop outside ebay, too.

I found the Popo 68 body on Alice' Collections. Thank you so much!
But I also checked out the Telesthesia and Dragon Event. The body's proportions are very close to Popo68 and so is the price. But TD is including a free set of jointed hands in their event. Does anyone have the TD 68 male body? Do you like it and can you suggest which color of resin to go for with a normal Or-Doll resin? Thanks again!

I received my Azuma head . Didn't get a wooden box, though, just a cardboard box. He has a really interesting face, but the eye openings are really awfully small, and that leads to the question: Does anyone know a good source for eyes with small irises (except kokdollcollection, the sizing is what I am looking for, but the colour choice is a bit small)?

I received my Or-doll Sae a few months back, but I haven't been able to customize her yet. I'm looking to also get a few other head sculpts from Or-doll, because they're really precious. ; w ;

Has anyone else had problems with the magnets in the headcap, though?

 

No, any problems. I've got two limos-heads and neither of them has problem like that. But one of them has turned symbol of "nyx" on his headcup. and that is really strange.

@Viivi Thank you! I'm not sure if the LittleY head is smaller than the one you want, but I love this one on the Impldoll body. The Star (a bit bigger in size) should also work well.

Just popping in to say that I have an old HeYe head and she works wonderfully on the Supiadoll single jointed body. I don't know about the Asado sculpt that you're interested in @Viivi , but I thought I'd mention it as an option And I can get pictures if you want them!

About body!
If somebody needs I can show how does Limos look like on Spiritdoll Elegance , Beyours 60cm boy body, doll legend 60 cm, and Dollzone Cosmo's body) (as fem variation - on Supiadoll, but I am sure, that it is too small) Also I can get photo with dollshe pure, bur there is no secret that neck of dollshe is too thick.

 

Just finished my Enoch. Ever since I saw Azuma's blank head I thought of turning him into a character I had in mind.

 

What a cool faceup and tattoo! Love the direction you went with him~

 

@Viivi So sorry to take so long, but I finally have a few pictures for you. The first is to give you a good sense of the overall proportion of the HeYe head on the Supia body, and the second shows you that a wig can make a big difference lol. HeYe is a fairly big head for this body, but I think because the face is so small, the hybrid works pretty well.
