[Adopted] Narae/Narin 43/44cm Mini Discussion Part 6

Mar 17, 2014

    1. I emailed him and he did say the $300 was for the head only. Ouch but I want one. Dandelion is my dream head for my girl...

      • x 1
    2. There is a picture of the new Dandelion head on instagram. Bimong said she can be ordered with a classic body.

    3. I just wish I knew when they would be listed ._.

      I need one lol

    4. Bimong is getting a bit.... Ambitious with his pricing.
50cm is the best size for me so I was really looking forward to it, but I can't drop another $1000 on one doll :...( He is pricing more or less $200 above what most other companies would sell for this kind of set.
For exemple a zaoll is about $450, but this one will be double jointed so maybe $500~550
Most SD heads go for $150
Pair of hands or feet $30~40
Doll comes with 1 extra head, one extra pair of hands, 2 extra pair of feet. At most that's $820.

    5. I noticed that he is adding an eyeball anchoring device, to be included with the 6.5 dandelion head...so I guess that is something :nowords: Gaah...I really want that head...but it is not easy to justify a small MSD head for $300.

    6. The Dandelion are being shipped in the hand made cedar boxes, one for the doll and the head comes in a cedar box as well. It's not just a cardboard box.

    7. Talking about Bimong's prices, I found the Narae40 body price rather high. $400 for an MSD body is a lot of money. I'd been looking at the bodies by other makers and the price range was about $200-300. On other hand, I find his dolls unique in the way they are sculpted and assembled. I didn't see a lot of MSDs anywhere that could pose as well as Narae, or had such a well scupted body. So I guess any ''extra'' you pay is for the uniqueness of the product.

    8. When compared to other bodies offered in the MSD range, the price of the narae40 body is at least justified to an extent. Heck, a Fairyland Minifee body is $365, not far behind $400, and it doesn't have the level of engineering that the Narae40 body offers.
Bodies are different from heads, of course. Heads definitely take sculpting ability, but $300 is, as pointed out by shelley, what some other bodies and even full dolls in the 1/4 size range sell for. If coleen's comment was in reference to the price, then it would make more sense - however I don't think every customer is willing to pay for an expensive box when they could just opt for cardboard. The cedar box seems like a lovely touch, however.
Anyway, I'm sure there are some people who will be perfectly fine with spending that much for one of Bimong's lovely sculpts, and I'm happy that those people have found a sculpt they love.

      • x 3
    9. Bimong is one artist and is the sole sculpter. Other companies, especially Fairyland are much larger. How many artists do they have sculpting and casting? That is certainly going to have some affect on pricing.

    10. There are a lot more pieces in the new bodies. Each needs a mold and takes time to pour. The little pieces can be harder than the big ones!

      • x 1
    11. There's a lot of good reasons for why his prices might be higher (although I thought narae40 was REALLY well priced for what she is & since I'm used to minifee prices), but he specifically said dandelion would have simpler joints closer to OLD narae so I'd rather skip the fancy box and extra head and just get a regularly priced body.
My gripe is really just that.

    12. Guess he does not want anyone to copy his new body style, which makes sense to. I really love my old body style Narae's , but he wanted to update them or the old body style mold maybe no more either way I was thinking about upgrading my old Narae, but not now.

    13. So it looks like I just missed the narae40 preorder. Does anyone have a guess on when the body will be available to order again?

    14. I might have missed something but somebody asked Bimong about it on instagram and he said he wasn't going to do it in the near future.

    15. He is planning a release of at least the classic body soon but he has to finish the SD Narins first.

    16. I bought my Narae40 new body doll with the closed eye head N410 head. I just liked the shape of the face and jawline better. But, I am not going to want a closed eye doll all the time! (What was I thinking?) I am not into the hype of the special head, etc. but I really like the Mindulrae 6.5" head! I am thinking do I really want to pay $300 for the head or just get N416 for $120. I really don't want to spend that much for a head but I love the sculpt.

    17. I am totally in the same boat as you. I have two 416s and I really like them... they were my alternative to dandelion since I didnโ€™t want a larger doll. I feel foolish, but I bought the head. She was the doll I wanted in 1/4 scale and I just made do with 416.

$300 is really too much for a head and Iโ€™m not happy I spent that much... but I figured finding it in light tan later down the road would be difficult if he sold out on the heads. I kinda regret it, but I kinda donโ€™t. Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™ll be thrilled when I get my hands on her.

    18. Don't feel foolish! It is really the head you want. As you said, you made do with 416. I am in the same boat. I will just be making do with the 416. I always liked the Narae40 but I was only collecting SD and I have the Narae60. I love her, but I am really tired of the big dolls. It was a fluke (kismet) that I happened upon Narae40 on the release date and I went for her. I am thrilled to be getting her and she will be shipping soon! I have a wig for her, and I bought Teasdale fiber to make wigs for her. I have an outfit for her. I want to try making toe shoes for her as I bought the pointe feet. I took ballet as a child and have my daughter's slippers and toe shoes to look at as a guide. I just can't wait to pose the new body! But I do want that Mindulrae head.

    19. I bought the head too...and yes it hurt my wallet a little but I really love the Dandelion sculpt. I just hope it lives up to my expectations...the new head is so different in my opinion. Kind of hoping he will also release an exact dandelion face in a 6.5 size (but in a normal price range lol )

    20. I understood that he wants to release Narin40, but maybe that was just a typo

    21. I was tempted by the head but getting it would have mean getting a new doll altogether and I just can't justify these kind of expenses anymore. I've just completed my dolls' ''account book'' , mostly out of curiosity, and the amount I saw as a total spent was scary. Instead of getting new dolls I will have to see how to get some of this money back - probably making and selling costumes. The idea of Bimong planning to make Narin40 is worrying too - another temptation! But sadly I just can't let myself afford it anymore.

    22. Just want to share my cute adorable SoRa <3

    23. Ha-Neul - Your SoRa is lovely.

I'm getting so anxious for my Narae.

    24. coleen,

Thank you so much! I do adore her, her sculpt seems so perfect to my taste))))))

But why anxious? She's not at home yet?

    25. SoRa is gorgeous

    26. No; Bimong has started shipping and plans to have all Narae40 shipped by end of the month.

    27. bugs6946,
Thank you sooooo much! : )

      coleen,
Ah, I see, then I hope she'll get home in no time and become your Santa : )

    28. I'm less confident that he can keep his promise, on his Instagram he still isn't finished with sculpting Narin 65&68, he's resculpting the neck and maybe today/tomorrow he will finish the private parts... then one of the heads isn't finished either... So, maybe until the end of November he will ship Narin and then he can concentrate on working on Narae again... he still has the knee joints and wrist/ankle parts to finish (as far as I followed the progress) and in the notice he said he wants to change the shape of the muscles of the legs... sooo... still some work to do... maybe December? January? But that's still standard waiting time in the hobby ;)

(You may correct me if you heard that some Narae have already been shipped, haven't seen any notice or message about that)

    29. I hope he can ship sooner. Regardless of what many people are used to in this hobby, it is not acceptable to tell your buyers one thing and then keep on delaying the shipping. He must have some idea of long the things take. I still believe (or want to believe) his announcement about Narae wasn't false. He said end of November... I hope it won't be delayed to much.

    30. Bimong sent an email, and he posted on his website:

      2017/10/23 [22:24]
Title Notice to customers who ordered New Narae40 Body

Notice to customers who ordered New Narae40 Body

      Dear Customers,

I am still assembling Narin65 but the shipping for Narin 65 will be delayed for about 2~3 weeks than we have expected.
It's because many of the customers wanted 67cm, which requires lengthening each 1cm of the thigh and calf.
In the meantime, I completed the buttocks of hip and the silicon pad for Narae 40.
Triple rail knee joint correction is in the final step as well.
Remaining work is making the joint membrane of wrist and ankle slimmer.
In addition, we are planning to make the streamline of fine muscles of thighs and calves smooth.

I will start shipping at least at the end of November, after movability test.
Like for other customers, a pair of random hand or foot parts will be shipped as a gift for customers who purchased Narae 40 Body to thank for the patience.

All the producing processes are updated in Instagram with pictures and videos.
If you have any questions, you can have a quicker and more precise answers through DM of Instagram rather than through email.

I will do my absolute best to meet up your expectations.
      Kind rigards
      Bimong

    31. Yup, and that was one month ago ;) He's postponing the shipping dates again and again and....
Now he says on his Instagram that he will start shipping Narin from next Monday on and after that he still has some work to do on the Narae body... (Yeah, I'm checking his Instagram daily, because I'm curious *lol*) Not complaining, just trying to keep those updated that don't stalk him on Instagram. I think it's better to know what's going on than wait for "end of November" and *nothing* If I'm wrong and he ships Narae in November, then all the better :)
I don't really mind, I'm still waiting for a doll that I ordered one month before Narae...

    32. I knew I had seen an updated post about him shipping dolls, but I couldn't find it. I didn't realize I read it on Instagram! I am anxious, but I don't mind waiting. I prefer to have a doll that isn't rushed into production! I have been watching Bimong's lives and I had no idea of so much painstaking detail that goes into bringing a doll into fruition. Two of the recent lives I saw he was working on Narin's penis and his tongue!

    33. It's great he's posting photos and videos of the progress of his dolls, it's a much better option to see the man in action rather than just wait for several months with no updates! I've ordered Narae40 at around same time when I ordered two more dolls/bodies from Supia and Doll Chateau, and with them, I'm just waiting for the message that the orders are ready. But with Bimong it's just much more fun. And at least I know he's (nearly) finished with Narin now, so hopefully Narae40 will be the next one :)

    34. Yay! The dandelion heads are shipping

    35. Bimong seems to be nearly finished with the Narae body upgrade and the newest notice says he will complete shipping until mid-January :)
I'm actually glad that this way she hopefully won't be caught up in the Christmas chaos.
On Instagram he also said that you could order the new leg parts seperatly, if you already have the new Narae and want the upgraded knee joints.

    36. I havenยดt posted pics of my girl for a long time. So here is a pic of Seela. She has the old body and big bust.

    37. The new N42C head is 200 USD and there will only be 20 available!

I'm head over heels for the head so I'm pretty depressed. :(

Best of luck to anyone who manages to get one! :cheer

    38. aestellica: is this a cat head or a different one? I saw the cat girl on Bimong's Instagram page and she's so cute. ''Luckily'' I'm done with my big doll purchases now (hopefully) so I wouldn't buy her anyway, but it still somehow saddens me that the price is so high. BJD hobby is just way too expensive.

Wheatear: she looks so good with this wig, what make is it? :kitty2

    39. @shelley
It's the cat head! I love the eye shape so much. I guess I'll just have to learn to make modifications! I wish there were more clear pictures of the sculpt, especially with the teeth parts in.

    40. Here's my new kid on the block - Lupin. He's an oldie but a goodie - an old original narin head who's had quite a life :)

    41. Slowly and carefully working on some mods for this dude. Got a nosering in but I'm not sure I like this color. It can stay for now though

    42. Anyone here have the Narin N403? Iโ€™ve been curious about this head for awhile now but I canโ€™t seem to find any owner pictures anywhere.

    43. Snagged that new 40 body right at midnight, but my wallet is crying >.<
A $450 body with the $300 Dandelion head...this is by FAR the most I've ever spent on an msd, and she doesnt even have eyes or hair yet :...(

      • x 1
    44. Similar feelings here... My wallet still hasn't recovered since I ordered the $400 body in September. It should be shipped today, and before I get it, there'll be vat tax to pay on top of that. I will use the body for the doll which costed me about $600, and even when I eventually sell her original body, that amount won't be reduced by a lot. So, that will my most expensive MSD too : ) sometimes I do wish I haven't got into the MSDs!

    45. I want to buy the body to hybrid with a tan Fairyland head, but Iโ€™m scared of the wait times. I know it will be worth it, but considering I have to sell the Fairyland body I have now to kind of finance the whole thing, I donโ€™t know if Iโ€™ll have time to order and I donโ€™t like the idea of having a floating head of an established character for a long time either. Iโ€™m going to look back on this thread and see what I can figure about wait times averages.

    46. I've really been wanting a narae, but mannnnn 700+ for just an msd kills me xD I just can't do it.

    47. Ditto here, but I also added extra hands and feet! I did use the layaway option, so that spreads the cost out a bit!

    48. Damn that body is expensive, and I was so thinking about upgrading my Tisa, but the price for the tan plus the head......ouch and double ouch! I will just keep my Classic girl as is.

    49. I think now that he has finished upgrading the body it will be faster, I (and some others here) have been waiting since September but that was because he was still working on a lot of stuff.
So maybe waiting times will be 1-2 months now?

Still anxious to receive my Narae, the current estimate is this Friday...

    50. Heyo! Thought I'd join this discussion with an introduction to my Narae406. I've had her for 2 years now, but I haven't gotten around to giving her a face-up until yesterday. Well, here she is!

    52. Any update on shipping of the September Narae40?

    53. Bimong found and is testing some new silicone bands that do not stretch over time like elastic. But he said he has them assembled with elastic but wanted to test the silicone bands and send us the best doll possible.I think they will ship very soon! He posts lots of updates on his instagram.

    54. Thank you for the update! I had seen the testing of the silicone bands on his Instagram.

    55. My Classic Pinky White Narae ( Evie) has aged and it makes me so sad. Her faceup is by Basic Line a artist I don't think that is painting anymore. I may have to upgrade her, later this year after all:atremblin

    56. Has anyone noticed if Bimong will sell any of the older bodies anymore? Because I haven't seen those for sale for a good while now and sadly I can't handle the new bodies that well.. just too many joints. I follow his instagram but I must've missed if he clarified this up to anyone yet.

I have one doll I still want from him hah.. :'D

    57. I don't think he is making the older type bodies anymore, you could ask and see what he says.

    58. I believe he was planning a release of the classic body. He has slowed his releases to reduce the delivery time.

    59. He's planning on making updates to those too. I don't know exactly what he'll do with the limbs (maybe upgrade to double joints?) but they will only have one torso joint at least. I'd think he'd sell them as is as well, because they're very much loved by all. All you need to do is ask him. He's trying to take everyone into account.

I'd honestly be happy with the new Narae body if he just left out the boob-joint (I find those redundand with the waist joint already in place) and maybe the shoulder joints and made that an option. It would have cleaner lines. But every time I ask, he says he'll be upgrading the classic body next. I really like how much wider her hips are with the new upgraded body, though, so I'm waiting to see what he does with the classic body. I do somewhat hope it has less parts though and that will bring the cost down a bit as well. With his sculpting skill I know he can make amazing joints even if they don't have any extra moving parts.

    60. @Yenna The upper chest joint might seem redundant until you consider that being able to bend it can help shift the doll's center of gravity as needed to hold a pose! :) More than would be possible with just the one chest joint, anyway.
