[Adopted] Mirodoll Discussion - Part II

No...? The only difference is that the Dollshe headback also comes with a loose metal piece that sits in the hole for the S-hook to sit on. The annoying part is trying to pull all of the elastic through the tiny hole. With the three MiroDoll bodies I have, I just let one of the leg elastics slide down into the torso and knotted it there. I have tendonitis so I wasn't going to mess with trying to pull the extra elastics up at this point. The dolls are floppy, but they haven't even been started on customizing so there's no point in getting them tightened until then.

Regarding my order basically MiroDoll catsed all my bodies, i've ended up asking them to split the shipping that was supposed to be combined with my Twin $ister's order to avoid custom issue, better get few dolls in one package!

 

Probably a question that gets asked many times over. But does anyone have a rough estimate on the shipping cost from mirodoll to north america? For just a 60 cm body

 

I am in the US, in Pennsylvania, and when I bought just a 60cm girl body earlier this year, in the beginning of May, the shipping charge was exactly $35. Hope that helps!

I think she meant contigual - the 48 states that are all connected. Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii is generally more expensive due to transport costs.

 

Painless Silver have you tried to put in your shopping cart the body and see how much MiroDoll web site charge you for shipping fee?
I did the same with postage to my country and company confirmed me later that shipping rates estimated on their web sit to my destination was correct

 

I am looking forward to my (hybrid) Mirodoll girl. Has anyone else ordered the small breast 60cm girl body yet? I haven't seen any owner pictures yet. I have no idea how new this body is?

The body is basically the same as the large bust girl body, they just gave it a breast reduction Mine should arrive next week, I have no idea if any have made it home yet - it's only been available for a month or so if I'm not much mistaken. (Of course Miro ships lightning fast, so that doesn't say much )

 

Jany - Wow - next week? When did you order? I am very curious to see it when you have it. With what kind of head will you get on it?

 

I ordered pretty much a month ago (Aug 16th), shipping notice came Sept 4th, but for some reason while production was super fast, shipping is going extra slow ... they must be sightseeing or something, first they dawdled in China for about half a week, now they've been sitting in Frankfurt for days.

I've got a floating Luts event head that will get the body. I tried it on the large bust body at a meet and I've been waiting for the release of the small bust body ever since
You're hybriding too, right? Any head plans yet?

Yes - I plan to buy a Beetta head (Dollzone) - and if I can afford it a Clovera head too. She needs a smaller chest too - she looks to young for such a big buste. I want to make something between Val Zeitler´s style and Victorian style with them/her.

In Germany we always get customs charges. The customs people are very, VERY German (as in, bureaucrats par excellence) ... some are less bad than others, but there's pretty much no way for a doll to enter this coutry without getting doll-napped and held hostage.

Your plans sound great! I love victorian style But I don't have the dolls for it - nor the sewing skills, for that matter

 

They are about 80% efficient here - they might mis something from China. (Is Mirodoll in China???) But I also have something coming from Korea - which they never mis, and I expect an 150 euro customs charges for that one
The rest of the world pays 150 euro less for the same doll. It is unfair.

My sewing skills are also not up to par yet. I'll just have to learn

What kind of outfit will you give your Bajoran girl?

 

Now you mention it, I've only ever ordered from Japan and Korea before (Miro is indeed in China) ... they could miss something from China. But I doubt it somehow.

My little Bajoran will get a mix of clothes from the other girls for the time being: an unclaimed skirt, a shirt and a pair of leggings that all of the bigger girls seem to be sharing anyway. The colours roughly match the colour scheme introduced when Bajoran refugees appeared for the first time. She will get more outfits later, as soon as I find the time. She's my one doll that doesn't really have a character or backstory, except for being the doll of a (Bajoran) Star Trek LARP character of mine So she can wear whatever I feel like making for her.

 

Jany - Who knows - your Bajoran girl might even be inspired by human fashion?

My dolls all seem to be projects for at least a year or so. I work full time, have to travel to and from work a couple of hours a day and after that still need to cook/eat/do the dishes and keep my house... there is not that much time here either. But yes, I'll post pictures here or in the Dollzone threads Will you do the same?

Non of my dolls really have a backstory. I do have two dolls in my home (non bjd´s) that portrait a character from a movie though. And I fully intend to one day own a bjd I can call Lucius Malfoy It needs to be tall, thin, with a sneer on his face and a pointy chin. I haven't found the right head yet. One day there will be just that head that screams 'Lucius' to me - just like Beetta and Clovera are leaving an image in my head.

I so hope this body will be it for Beetta. If it works well I'll probably get one for Clovera too.

 

Oh I can totally relate. I drive several hours a day, too ... I live with two cats and a boyfriend (in order of appearance ) and for some reason dishes and things never seem to magically do themselves ...
I might end up having to get another Miro body too, I'm suspecting my Yuan of planning a body snatch She's on a Doll in Mind body but it's just a tad too small for her ... and the Elfdoll heads I've seen on Miro bodies so far all looked perfect. But I guess they can share for a while, there's only so much space in here and SDs take up quite a lot of it.

I can't tell what clothes I'm going to make yet, I'll just wait and see what I feel like Right now the "DS9" layered style is high up on the priority list, and I might try my hands at a clergy outfit ... anything's possible I'll definitely link to the project thread to and from here and / or the Mirodoll hybrids thread.

 

Jany, can't wait to see more of your Bajoran! I was definitely excited when I first saw the initial head mod posts... It will be awesome to see her on a body, not to mention the costuming projects. And it will be cool to see owner pics of the Miro small bust body!

 

I think i've found a very interesting head to get to place on one of my mirodoll bodies, now i just need to wait from the shop owner reply regarding some details.
I must say that while i'm impressed by customer service from Mirodoll i'm not satisfied at all by their skill in matter of resin colors, people i've asked for some custom colors and they made ALL bodies in the uncorrect color, i've decided to keep the bodies they casted but no more customized color from them..the thing that is more disorienting is that i've chosen the color from their resin samples..

 

You and me both Thank you so much! I'll do my best to at least get her faceup done, weather permitting (does anyone happen to know how Purity Seal reacts to humidity? It's getting very autumny around here) - costuming might take a while, but there will be updates ... slowly but surely.

Jany, I used Purity Seal on my girl, and I did all of her faceup/body blushing at the very end of July this year. I did wait until it was around 68° F outside (which meant I was doing all my faceup work at around 5am, before sunrise!) but even so, summer here in Pennsylvania is a super humid season--- and I didn't notice any problems at all with the Purity Seal. It was my very first faceup, but as far as I can tell it did just what it's meant to---- it went on in nice even layers and gave my girl a uniform matte texture, and sealed the faceup without messing it up in any way. I was really happy with it, and going on 2 months later it looks exactly the same---- nothing is chipping or peeling or what have you. Hope that helps!

 

It does, thank you so much! I've only used it once and that was under perfect conditions (I had MSC before) - but in this case, expect a faceup update next weekend

 

I'm still waiting for the shop to get me back for some info, i've never seen these before are a sort of unique easthetic, in some way it reminds me of Dollstown.

 

thedarkeststar13 my experience with Purity Seal was pretty the same, in my area summer have been pretty heath and humid and using Purity Seal for most of dolls i never had issue even with high humidity and also on darker or tanner resin heads/bodies

 

Anybody have an idea how long or how many times of emailing it takes to receive an answer from Mirodoll? I ordered about a week and a half ago and emailed on that same day, then again a few days ago. No answer yet. Hmm. .. . .

 

playdate, I think they only have access to an English reading person intermittently. So it may take a while before that person is available again to read and answer mail. Be patient, and mail them again if you don't hear something within the next two weeks.

Cyador: I ordered that body 2 weeks ago too, sadly it's still processing so hopefully it will arrive soon. My friend ordered like month ago and they finally ship it this week so they are probably quite busy around this time.
I was pretty happy when they came with this option, I have one large breasted doll and holy cookie on the stick some poises are just impossible with her

playdate: I mailed them 11 days ago and still didnt get a respond, dunno if the mail got lost or they are superbusy.

 

Mine still aren't home, but it's my own fault this time. They're being held in customs and unlike all the other times it's not the local office but central customs, and I need to send them additional paperwork ... which I didn't get around to figuring out due to being crazy busy with that dratted "real life" stuff that keeps interfering.

 

Meh.. : custom are so annoying, please keep us update Jany, hopefully they just wish to have the paypal receipt or something like that.
NiamCK had you tried to contact their reporter Mangotree? Maybe this could be of some help.

My half of my order comes today with custom fee which was something that didn't make me happy, plus colors of bth SD female body and MSD boy body are different that pics that MiroDoll show me as well was sample color resin that they sent me....

 

I sent out the paperwork the other day and haven't heard from the customs office since (I take that to be a good sign).

Basically the "problem" is a transport association thingy that tries to make a profit on stuff from China being held in customs, offering the "service" of doing the paperwork for a fee of about $40 (which is outrageous). The paperwork itself, while being complicated, isn't impossible to fill out by oneself, there's even a tutorial about which numbers and codes to put where for stuff from China. That stuff needs to be printed and sent to the customs office, along with proof that you did indeed pay for it and all that jazz.
I honestly can't figure out why Germany makes such a fuss about import stuff when just about every other country's customs people take a look at the paperwork that comes with the package, calculate the fees and pass it on ...

 

I agree on this Jany, in Italy works simply custom employers read papaerwork and calculate duties basing on infos that are there....

 

I think we in America often forget how easy we have it when buying from overseas, compared to you in Europe. I hope you get your package soon, Jany!

I'm pretty low down regarding the half of my order, i'm waiting still for the miroman 68cm body and the mirogirl msd body..sadly my expectations were not fullfilled and now i'm wondering if was just bad luck or lack of diligence from company
