[Adopted] Mirodoll Discussion - Part II

The Crow.. UHM..depends a lot from the head i guess. I cannot tell cause i'm not an owner yet of this body but as far as i know pose ability is good.

 

If you guys want smaller hands for MD guys I suggest that when you order the doll you ask them if they will put on the girl hands instead. I did that with my MSD dolls, swapped out the girl hands to the guy body and it worked quite well. They fit fine in the wrist sockets and they were about the right scale I thought for the boy body. This is the one b-I have about Miro dolls. The hands are just so much bigger than they need to be. I actually asked Mangotree if they would consider making sets of smaller hands for their dolls even if they had to do it as an optional purchase but no answer on that one as yet. But I think it is possible to get the hands for the boys scaled down a bit by asking them to use the girl hands. Unfortunately there's no way to do the same with the girls. I used a pair of RS hands for my mini but they didn't work very well even when I made the sockets rounder and sanded the balls. The balls on them are just too big. I really need to dremel them for it to work and I probably will. But swapping out the hands is something I really wish I could do with all my Miro dolls. I really don't like the size of the default hands on either size of doll. It's the one thing that keeps all their dolls from being just perfect to me. I'm very big on proportion and the size of the hands and feet on their dolls IMHO is just off. It's awkward looking.

 

Teehee! Got to confess while I always admired the films I was never blown away by them, recently got a few copies of the comics though and wow!

I think the rather muscley Miro body would probably work quite nicely for my idea of the character

 

Vetinari i love the comic too, it's a masterpiece to me, that stuff is amazing!I'm still looking to decide how to paint my second head based on BL from The Crow movie, bu speaking regarding the comic imo the mirodoll 68cm body suits nicely to re-shell Eric from the comic.

Magkelly sincerely hands and feet have not priority for me at very least, there are much important improve to make such more heads sculpts, so far i've seen male hands in owners piccies and to me seems good, proportionally speaking of course. But everyone differs in taste, so this is just my opinion

 

Hello! I was wondering if anyone had any comparison pictures with a Mirodoll Normal Skin and a Dollmore Normal Skin? If anyone does I will love you forever! I have a Mirodoll MSD in Normal skin and someone wants to know if it'll match their Dollmore NS head. Thanks so much!

 

I don't have sadly any MD ns piece nor sample resin, but i got several hands from DollMore and i can confirm that they are quite constant in resin colors, said so dollmore NS is a light shade of yellow with peach pink undertone, hope it helps

 

I'll be able to see on Tuesday-ish. I have a Shiloh and my MiroDoll order is on its way... If it wasn't for the weekend and Labor Day, it would prolly already be here by now.

--If anyone is interested, I'm planning on popping a Dollshe Bernard head on a 68cm boy body. I really don't think that the proportions will work, but it's just an excuse to get another head, I suppose. I'll also be able to try Bernard on the 60cm girl body, too.

 

My Miro hybrid has had the wrists put in boiling water to soften them, then I squished the wrists into a round shape instead of an oval. Then I was able to swap out the overly long Miro hands for some regular sized Dika doll hands.

I've been lurking in this thread for a bit, since I'm currently saving for a Mirodoll girl body and maybe a head. I was wondering, does anyone remember about what they paid for shipping on a full 60cm Mirodoll to North America? Canada in specific, but I'm sure the states would give me a rough estimate. I'm curious how much I'll need to set aside for that side of things.

Mirodoll usually have also available fedex as shipping courier, but i think that you can check on your own adding to cart a single body from mirodoll shop web site

 

I just ordered the 68cm body yesterday--shipping was $40 to the US and DHL was the only option.

What's the neck circumference on the 68cm body? And has anyone maybe tried a Simply Divine head on it?

 

Neck circumference is the same for both boy bodies: 10cm

 

Yep seriously contemplating a Simply Divine Richard/Miro 68cm hybrid. I think the Richard sculpt is on the right side of "pretty but manly", and I wouldn't be too scared of doing permanent mods on the miro body... Methinks it'll end up being the tan miro body, and white richard head, for once resin mismatch is a good thing! Hmm. (Yep definitely being influenced by the film somewhat despite myself!)

Though I am a little peeved that I'll probably end up having two dolls with Bowie-eyes down the line. I wanted Bowie to be unique in my little group! Though the question is - dark brown and clear white/very pale blue as I pictured when reading the comics or blue/lighter blue as O'Barr's illustrations show?

I'm just a little worried about how that hybrid combination would look - the Richard head, like the Alec has been purposefully made to slightly a smaller scale at 8/9" than either Thomas/Harlequin at 9/10" and the Miro body is pretty beefy. Still this is all pipe-dreams for now, I've got 2 other concepts for dolls that are vying for attention and a multitude of floating heads... So if this is still a concept in a couple of months? Mebbe.

What kind of head size works best for these bodies? With the relatively thick build how do narrow faced 8/9 heads work out?

 

8-9 heads look best with Miro bodies, and in spite of that the heads Miro sells are about 9-10. This is part of why most people buy their doll bodies to use for hybrids.

In this hobby, very few people seem to mind cherubic faces on beefy bodies, but if you prefer the realism of testosterone levels making a proportionate bone structure to muscle size and body fat percentage on the head as well as the body, go for 8-9 heads with wider jaws and more prominent brow ridges.

 

Regarding the light blue color Vetinari i think i've seen the illustration you're referring to, but definitely a sample pic would help, anyway don't know if a tan head would look good onto a white/light blue body..i've once done an hybrid like that using an Angelsdoll NS body with a lilac head from soom, i love it..but i have also lilac hands and lilac feet, and also i've done some modding adding bandages at knees, ankles,wrists and elbows...the concept is overall pretty interesting but right now i just can't visualize how in real may be

 

Thank you both $abbatha and Raesha! I completely missed their estimate shipping option last time I checked, but it's also really helpful to have an actual shipping amount too I think I can safely budget $45 for shipping, and hopefully have a little left over.

They said the unstrung body takes more space than the strung one, so one of them (the girl) will come strung after all. I had no idea shipping unstrung would cause so much trouble I wouldn't have asked for it if I had known ... I feel bad about it now. -.-°
But stringing trouble aside, they're on their way!

Regarding Simply Divine and Miro, I'm planning a SD Alec / Miro 60 hybrid at some point (short, muscly kind of dude). But it will probably take quite a while, he's currently third in line, and that's supposing no irrisistible release comes along in the meantime.

 

@Rosslyn - With what you've just said you've really got me thinking taking the $120 gamble on a used Mirodoll body for my head that's based on Robert Carlyle, which is an 8-9 with a nice wide jaw and decent brow size, is probably worth it.

 

Does anyone know how long it generally takes Mirodoll to reply to emails?

 

My package arrived! I've been at work all day so I can't do pics right now, but maybe t'morrow. I purchased two 60cm girl bodies and a 68cm boy, and MiroDoll included a NS Wind head and a pair of boots for free! I am also insanely happy because my NotDoll head fits! And the colouring isn't too bad off since the head I have has a pink blushed face-up that evens it out. I'll see if I can get a comparison pic of her vs. one of my other NotDolls. (Her boobs are awesome and work for the character, too)

In other news... Dollshe Bernard is pretty much a no go on a MiroDoll. The head even looks too small on the female body, IMO. It's hilariously tiny... Sort of like the shrunken head guy on Beetlejuice. I have an extra RingDoll Sol head I might plop on to see how it looks, but I think it'll pretty much be the same outcome.

OHH such a shame for Bernard head.. well i can't wait to see your hybrid with Notdoll head, i own a floating notdoll head and i wish to find a good body for her!

 

I think it's a matter of preference with the Dollshe heads. I've got an Elfdoll/DiM hybrid and I think she looks bubble-headed, while others claim she's perfectly fine ... I guess it all depends on your taste in dolly proportions.
My Miros still appear to be stuck in China. They were sent out on September 3rd ... I can't waaaait!

Ugh, guys, I'm so upset! I ordered my 68cm body on the 1st, but then on the 3rd one was posted in the marketplace. I immediately PMed her and asked her to hold it while I got a refund--which she said she would just yesterday--I immediately emailed Mirodoll to cancel my order and refund it. This morning they refunded it and I messaged the seller again asking for her paypal address and she said she is going to sell it to someone else today! She just told me yesterday she would hold it! And now my order has already been canceled! I'm so upset. It seems embarrassing somehow to email Miro again and ask them to take my money back. T___T

 

Raesha well sincerely i see no reason to cancel an order from company to get a second hand body from secondary market, sorry it's something that i could not understand
Anyway just place again the order on Mirodoll shop, i'm sure that would not mind.

I'm such out of patience with MiroDoll, they supposed to do layaway to me but instead they didn't worked on my order since a week after that i've sent them my last deposit, pocking me to pay in full my huge order in two months instead of four we've agreed.
Today they show me pics of my bodies and all colors are basically wrong, plus company have issue with their chinense custom due to size of package, basically a real mess first and last time that i do such a huge order from them....

$abbatha, Miro wrote they shipped on the 2nd. It's gone out from the sorting center on the 3rd, and according to tracking hasn't moved since Maybe it's just tracking being slow.

 

UHM..could it be..maybe chinese ems postal service isn't pretty updated..have you tried to track your parcel somewhere else?
I'm basicly in the same situation of $avage with my order: all wrong colors, i hope that Mirodoll would manifacture again the bodies, cause it's out of question that i will keep the bodies in the wrong colors they casterd it

 

Jany i agree with $abbatha sometimes chinese postal tracking aren't such great, i'm sure that you'll receved your package out of the blue...
As for my order well i can dealing with the 1/3 girl body that basically is simply a darker shading of the color i would like, btw a lovely color, but the 68Cm boy body comes in light skye blue and i've asked for gray plaster color, so they need to do again the male body....

Well i've sent to Mirodoll a sample pic, every color has a number on it, i've asked for some colors and they simply casted the bodies in a different shading of color, not so bad for the girl body in the end, but i can't keep the 68cm boy body in the color they casted it.. I just think that they got in confusion with the number..i hope that they will reply me soon, so to fix the issue.

 

Maybe they're taking on more than they can handle? I got around to actually inspect the other bodies/parts, and the WS girl body has magenta dye splattered on her left arm and nipple, and the Wind head also has this faintly around one of her eyes. The head is also sanded really weirdly causing discolouring and scratches, so I'm wondering if it was also accidentally splattered and someone tried to fix it.-- Not that it really matters since it's fixable and I didn't ask for the head. In the end, I don't think I'm going to request a replacement arm or bust since I was considering using one of the bodies for modding anyways.

Thankfully, I'm off on Monday and Tuesday so I hope to get comparison pics with floating heads. I attached the Bernard head and maybe he'd look better with clothing. He definitely has a yaoi hands thing going on, but it could be passable...He's stuck with the body for now, so...

 

If anyone remembers her from when I dyed and modded her body, Drach Imel is now all suited up and finished ^_^ I consider her primarily a Miro Doll since most of the work on her was on that body.

Spent the better part of 2 weeks making this outfit! Insane amount of top stitching, plus the wiring for the collar and making the boots from scratch all took forever. But I'm so grateful it turned all turned out pretty well in the end. It would have sucked to spend all that time for the outfit to look horrible!

But sincerely a whole body in the wrong color well it's hard to fix unless Mirodoll would manifacture a new whole body, anyway i'm waiting for their reply, i'm very sorry that you had your little issue with your order too.

Mirodoll also replied to my enquire regarding the wrong colors of my order, overall i can keep the gilr body as it is, and they offered to change the resin color of the male body, so i'm pretty pleased by them at the moment

Still no news from my bodies. According to tracking (the general EMS site, not Chinese) they're still in China ... but since Miro estimated I'd have them within four days (which, considering customs, equals about tomorrow) I kind of expect them (or rather, the customs note) to show up any day now.

 

Dollshe Bernard. The head is in freshskin (yellow-ish, so no resin match with Miro's pink) on a 68cm body. There is a bit of a neck gap, but with a wig I don't think it would be an issue as the head moves fine. I'm growing fond of the combo, but I'd still like a less muscely body and narrower shoulders. If you're going for a more realistic look with broad shoulders, it could be for you.



NotDoll Argeia. (Face-up by Cats10!) The resin doesn't really match since the pinkness of the Miro body makes the NotDoll head look yellow-ish, but my Argeia has pink blushing so it's not as noticeable. If/when I manage to snag more NotDoll heads, I'm definitely going to look in to getting more of these bodies. The head fits really well with no gapping.

yes, it is very hard to find shoes! And I love shoes! I found boots, but I also wanted to sport shoes and i've not found. I saw some in iplehouse to SID, but I don't know if they fits .. I'm tired! then.. I want replace the feets..

hehe I replaced the hands and feet. I'm a jointed hands fanatic so that was a given anyway. But at the time I bought my girl, Miro wasn't making high heel feet so I bought some Angel Studio heel feet for her. Even though I knew I wasn't going to use the flat feet, I still resculpted them anyway because i didn't like the way they looked.

I'm sure there are lots of other hands and feet that fit boys too. Since boys don't have heel/flat feet options they aren't on the marketplace here as often... but maybe if people put up wtb threads you could find some from people who use the fantasy parts of their dolls and want to get rid of their human parts? or sometime just weird circumstances just pop up.

Regarding feet and hands: i think that finding shoes for 9cm foot isn't that hard, alicecollections have some in stock, so i guess that can be ordered there, the main point is not where to get hands or feet, dollmore has a lot in stock in several sizes, but blushing may be an hard task, cause it would cheap often expecially on feet, so i think i shall cope with Mirodoll default hands and feet
