Hey guys this is kind of a random questions~~ I'm going to be restringing my Migi soon and I'm wondering, if I was to use a new string how long should it be for the legs and arms? o.O I do not know hw long to make the string which is the one thing they never tell you in videos XD

 

I think a lot of times they say to use your old elastic as a reference... if you like they way your doll is strung, just make it the same length. If you want it a little tighter, take off a bit... looser, make it longer.

I've never actually strung a doll, so sadly I can't be any more help than that. >_<;;

 

You don't see a lot of Owens around! I think someone needs to share some pictures. * u*

 

@QueenObvious: Yeah, you can just use the string your doll currently has as reference. That's what I did when I was restringing some of my dolls with some new elastic.

Wonder how long until they start selling again

 

My head finally shipped, but I ordered back in September. I imagine they'll want to get all the October orders they're behind on out before opening ordering again. Hopefully it will be soon.

 

Yeah well, i'm kinda thinking i might order two at once when they open up and have twins >_< i don't want to miss out again i was going to order a MD a few months ago but got sucked into an iplehouse release - but hey, they'll open again and i'll get my chance

I don't know if it's necessarily slow based on other people's experiences, but on the order page it estimates 3~4 weeks to ship a blank head. I've been waiting about 5 weeks for a doll from another company, and I'm expecting to wait 3~4 more... but that's a full doll with face up and everything, so that's to be expected. I didn't expect so long just for a head without face up or anything. XD

That's true! Waiting is a big part of it. I think I'm good at waiting... to a point. I can wait for a while, but eventually I start to get more and more impatient. XD Or I will have an impatient moment, but then for a few days I'm fine. I'm weird.

nah i don't think you're weird! i've been waiting for my first since early Sept. i go through moments where i'm impatient as anything and then for a few days it's nothing at all i imagine with a shipping notice the pacing starts ;D

I just had a trade with my friend, she got a minifee from me and I got a Migidoll Ryu on a 70 cm body with jointed hands! I am sooooooo excited! Plus, I finally bought my Migi Jina a body, so I shall be having a boy Ryu and a girl Jina. &#9829;

 

Oh, that's so awesome!! I really like the Ryu head on a 70cm body.

I hope you'll share photos of your Ryu and Jina. That sounds like a super cute couple.

 

I hope my boy gets shipped soon! My sister and I ordered together, so it will be extra exciting to get such a large box in the mail!

I've always wanted to put my Ryu head on a 70 cm body because I really love the proportions, but unfortunately my character is a bit on the shorter side! I really have a soft spot for the larger 65 cm+ dollies!

When I ordered Ryu I was sucked in by the Sky Guys promotion pictures, which I now regret. They don't suit the character, so I'm hoping they have some resale value.

Someone asked Migi when they would begin taking orders again, and this was the reply;

We have been doing our best to sell products as soon as possible. It would be in the end of November or the early December when the dolls become available. if it's early. Thank you for your patient.

 

Totally randomly, does anyone remember when Migi did their last round of tan boys? I've been saving and hoping all year for one T___T since I sold my tan Ryu like a moron

 

Yeah... I love, love the sky guys... but there's just no reason for me to buy that set. So sad... I'm sure they do have resale value, though.

I also would love to put my Ryu head on a 70cm body, but, my character, too, is on the short side. XD Curses, Casey, ruining all of my fun....

 

Ooh, you and me both. I think the last time was when Noel was released last year. Migi put a few Suntan heads up for quick sale on the Surprise board but I don't know if tan's been mentioned at all since the new site went up.


Wanted to pop in and pimp the Migidoll Database. Add yours if you haven't already and/or make sure your image link isn't dead. If you don't own your Migidoll anymore you can leave a picture, but also leave what head mold it is, or you can report the post to have it deleted.

I went through it today and there were only like 7 posts with no images which out of 15 pages isn't too shabby. Although holy cow, 15 pages! When it was started there where only a handful of Migidolls on the entire board, I think only Ryu and Miho had been released. Love it.

Any Ryeong owners especially, I don't think there's a single one in the Database.

 

I'm waiting until Ryeong's body finally ships and completing my Migi collection with Noel before I post all nine of them up in the database haha. Hopefully soon...

I forgot to mention in this thread... Migi finally shipped my Ryu head on November 6th. As far as I know, it's in still in the evil clutches of customs. XD

Hopefully everyone else who's waiting for stuff will get their stuff shipped soon!

 

There will be nine once Noel gets here (currently held by customs ) As for a favourite, it's hard to have one since I feel bad for the others, but since Jina's my first Migi, she's the one that's been doted on the most.

Noel's still on the way so I currently only have a group shot of the other 8 in the gallery with them wearing kimono (Ryeong was in Noel's body in the pictures).

 

Ohh I saw this gallery thread floating around once! ; A; Your Migis are so lovely!

EDIT: I'm also curious about the release of the tan resin.. My friend is hoping to get ahold of a tan Cho this time around.

the last time Migi offered tan, I jumped on Ryu but regretted it almost right after

 

I asked them on their QnA if they would considering selling Cho this time around, since they said they were only releasing a few sculpts and one is guaranteed to be Ryu. I'll let you know their reply. ; A; I'm hoping to grab Cho for my friend's Christmas gift. -cross fingers-

 

Speaking of unusual skintones...I wish they would re-release Suntan version. *A*

 

A tan Migi would be really nice... I'd love a tan Owen. ._. But I wonder how hard it is to resin match? I'm not sure if they released it I would be prepared to drop enough for a head and a body...

They didn't sell heads and bodies separately last time T_T

Some companies offer custom colored resin though (Angel Studio and Nobility, for example). I actually did this to get a body for my Ryu before I sold him. They're pretty close to Volks resin as well (volks is a bit more red, if memory serves right), so hybrids are definitely possible ^_^

I actually still have my custom tan body D8 hope I can get a new tan Ryu head to go on it soon!

 

It's too bad they didn't sell the heads and bodies separately... but it makes sense. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. I wouldn't mind having a Migi body, but for me, the price of a head is easier to handle when I haven't been specifically saving for it... but I can't just spring for a full doll out of the blue. >_<;

My Ryu head is (finally) home with me. I have to say that I am really impressed with the quality of Migi's stuff. He was more than worth the wait, and I can't wait til I can afford to get him a body.

I've been working on his face up (my first ever)... so when it's done, I'll share a photo if anyone is interested. I know there's a ton of Ryus around here, but... I'm excited to share. ^^

 

ChronicallySpaced, do share photos! I love Ryus, no matter how many I've seen I'm always impressed over and over again with how lovely they are.

I asked about Cho being suntan, expressing my deep interest in purchasing one. This was Migi's reply;

We are afraid but which doll will become available as suntan-skin has not been fixed yet.
We might need a bit more time to decide about that.

I finished up my Ryu's face up last night... I'll link to some photos later when I get home.

I have to say, it makes me wish I could afford to get the poor thing a body...

I think I want to get him a Little Monica type A boy's body... I really like the way it looks. ^^ Supposedly the resin match is good, too, although it's hard to know. XD I think at least it should be reasonably close, and I don't mind blushing them to match. ^^

 

Eyebrows are so difficult! When I did mine, trying to paint the thin lines was too hard! It didn't help that I couldn't find a small enough brush in even the craft stores... I guess to do them you have to buy those specialty brushes offline! My favorite part of a face-up is the lips, and the color of yours is really nice!

I really love Little Monica bodies! * u* I think it's a really good choice! They are very aesthetically pleasing. And they seem like they'd pose well!

 

I know what you mean. I bought some really nice brushes, but... even the 20/0 just didn't seem thin enough. >_<;; I also think I didn't thin my paint down enough... so!! I'll have to try that. I also caved and ordered a set of the smallest zoukeimura brushes from Volks for myself and my roommate... so I'm looking forward to trying those when they get here. ^^ I figured it's a good investment.

Yes, the LM bodies are so pretty! ^_^ I've heard people complain the hands are too "cartoony," but I think they're cute. And from what I heard, they're quite sturdy and do indeed pose well. I just wish I could afford to buy one now... T_T;; Probably not til sometime next year....

 

Hey guys, does anyone know if Migi matches Spiritdoll resin or am I totally off and Spiritdoll is more of a yellow shade? XD If it's yellow, I'd be interested in it matching a Crobi head P:

Also, congrats @ChronicallySpaced on getting your Ryu, isn't he great? ^^ However I recenlt noticed my boy has yellowed a bit and for some reason this has really put me off..I keep messing up on his faceup too and I am starting to lose my bond D: I don't know why this is happening since he is my favorite sculpt

 

Oh no!!! Don't give up on him! There are a lot of ways to combat the yellowing if it really bothers you that much.. T_T I hope you can give him a face up you really like so you can love him as much as you did before.

Ryu really is an amazing sculpt... I can't stop staring at him most of the time. XD

 

I think Spirit doll is more yellow (Migi strikes me as more pink. At least new batches). I've seen migi heads on spiritdoll bodies, but I believe those were from the more volks matching batches?
should match Crobi though

I bought a Ryu head a while back and got the default faceup. Just wondering, am I the only one that dislike the default faceup? I know I paid for it and everything but it was totally not appealing when the head arrived in the mail. I figure it's either I wipe it and attempt to redo it or just leave it and have trouble bonding with my Ryu. So I bought some stuff from Volks' and Michaels and decided to give it a try. xD

 

baww thank you that is exactly what I was thinking...Migi and Volks used to match and my Crobi matched a Volks body I had spot on so I think it could possibly be a match. However now that my Ryus all yellow he would match too DX

@Mochistar I have never seen one in person but the company photos do not make the default face-ups all that appealing to me so I never bought one. I totally recomend trying face-ups though! It's true I am currently having bonding issues with my Ryu as well over face-up problems..but once I started doing face-ups I got hooked ^^ So fun! I would say worst comes to worse send it to someone on DoA, I love Cats10 and bread17's face-ups..also Nicolle's Dream, ShallowSleep and Meggilu are amazing!

 

Oh no! I wasn't really that interested in the default face up in the company photos... but I thought it was pretty, at least. Do you mind posting a photo? I would like to see what he looks like "for real"...

I'm so sorry you don't like it, though, especially since you spent the money for it. I hope you can give him a face up you really love. I have to say, painting my Ryu's face made me bond with him even more. ^^

You can do it!!! I'm rooting for you. ^^ Keep us updated on his progress....

 

If you hate the face up that much, you can always just send him out to be faced by an artist from here. The commission section has great people, who can show you the work they've done, and you can either ask them to do something specific, or just tell them that they can do with it what they like as long as its better than what you have now. That being said, giving them a hair color and eye color is a must so that they can match make ups accordingly. Trying your hand at it is a great option as well if you have the patience and any skill at art whatsoever, of course practice makes perfect!

 

I have a Ryu with the default faceup. I honestly thought I wouldn't like it and was scared I would have to attempt a redo. But I actually do like it, maybe I just lucked out and got a good one, I don't know.

 

Aww that's a cute face up. I wouldn't mind it, but... I originally bought my Ryu head for the sole purpose of practicing face ups. And then, of course, he became something else.

 

Ahh, that's really pretty! I thought the company photos were appealing enough and I'm not good at face-ups so I went ahead and got my Ryu with the company default even though I know I'm going to get it re-done later because it doesn't really fit the character well. I wish Migi would have at least offered the option to get different colored eyebrows or something. XD

And Etreya, your boy is really lovely! ; A; May I ask where you got that completely adorable wig?! I love it!

I'll have to remember that wig. It looks perfect for a different character of mine I'd like to shell one day. It looks really cute on the Ryu, though! I don't see many Ryus with that type of hair style... and it suits him really well. ^^

Thanks everyone for the advice. I went ahead and re-did the faceup myself. I was pretty shaky at first and it's not the best looking face-up, but it totally helped me bond with him a lot more. And yup like everyone said, practice makes perfect, so I'll just keep practicing. ^^ Here's a picture of the default faceup when I got him. They didn't paint the eyebrows right, it didn't have the right strokes like how I see in other face-ups done by pros. Anyway, it's a nice faceup if I were to give him an innocent shota look though I suppose...



And this here is after I removed the face-up and did my own. (Please excuse the wig, I plopped it on his head immediately without fixing it..eeeek it's hideous lol ).

I can finally post here, since my Migidoll Jina Miruku finally got herself a body! Iplehouses ns really matches with her, though the neck is a bit too big, I need to sand it a bit.. Still, she is so beautiful.
I also have a 70cm Ryu but he still has no proper faceup..

(Sorry, Miruku is still a bit shy.. :') )

OMG Mochistar that's really strange about the default eyebrows. Seems almost unfinished to me. Now you've got me squinting at the pics on Migi's site to see if they're really like that or what.

Etreya your pic link is dead! I thought your boy was really cute but now I'm curious if his eyebrows are the same as Mochistar's?
