[Adopted] Migidoll General Discussion

I like Owen a lot, though Noel is clearly my favorite since I bought one! I don't find Ryu appealing even though I usually like smiley dolls. I guess I just don't go for the Boy Next Door kind of face. It does make him fairly versatile, though.

The Migi boy is...okay. I am really picky about posing capabilities and Migi falls somewhere in the middle. Some things which are clearly meant to be innovations, like the shoulder locks, just seem strange. I didn't want to be bothered with finding a match, so I got a complete doll based on a friend's recommendation of the body. I can't recommend it unconditionally, but you can see some of what an unsueded body can do here.

 

I feel the same way St.James. I was planning on getting a Migidoll body simply because I know it would match. Do you think sueding would improve the mobility a lot? I'm not too picky about mobility, but want a doll that can pose decently at least. Thanks for the link. Your boy looks like he's posing pretty well to me.

 

I don't know exactly, but I asked someone who has a Jina-LittleMonica hybrid and she said it was practically perfect. Is there a big difference with yours?

 

I haven't actually played around with my body much but I've had it for about a year. I think it's beautiful to look at and sculpted wonderfully but I HATE the shoulder joint....where the arm attatches to the torso in the shoulder area. Hate. That. Joint. His arms don't move to great because of it...I dunno I don't like my Migidoll body that match besides looking at it.

Just checked my order status and it says "before shipping". Do you guys know if that's close to being shipped and that they're packaging the item? I've been waiting for over 2 months for this. But looking at Migidoll sculpts, it's very worth the wait. I need to think of a name for Ryu when he arrives. >.<

 

Just wondering, I bought a migidoll yuri last year and the head is the type with the magnetic head cap. But this year, my noel came but his head is the type with a faceplate? arghz im having trouble describing this >.< But if anyone understands what I mean, i'd just like to ask if it's because of different sculpts that the head is made differently or has migidoll changed all sculpts to the faceplate type?
btw how is any one type advantageous to the other?
I'm a little jittereish with the faceplate as Im not very used to fitting it on and it sometimes seem very loose o_O

 

@QueenObvious : My migidoll yuri is on a little monica body too. the fit of the head on the neck is perfect but the colour is a lil off. the body looks a little darker and slightly yellower... i had to get my yuri blushed with a faceup that suited the body's colour better...

 

Moonbreeze - s'okay, I'm not a fan of faceplates either. Sometimes it's a matter of casting luck as to whether they're so tight-fitting you're afraid you might break something removing it, fit jut right, or are a bit wobbly-loose. The Shion came on a faceplate (and came as a project I haven't gotten around to yet, since on mine at least, the head-back projects far forward along the jawline and is actually wider than the faceplate, so you see a seam, and not a good-fitting one, unless I put him in a full, long wig.), but new Ryu, Cho and Miho's have come as full heads. Maybe it's the newest sculpts switched to the faceplate system. I hope not, because my experience with the Shion is putting me off getting any further MGs unless I can verify they're full heads.

 

Only Noel and Shion have the faceplates. Any heads released before them are still cast using the old molds, so unless Migi decides to revise the heads, the will ship with the old headcap system. I don't know if anyone has expressed dissatisfaction with their Shion to Migi, but it might be worthwhile to let her know.

 

Oic~~ i think i'll just have to take some time to get used to mine, but it does make putting eyes in easier i suppose... i might get more dolls from Migi in the future, but probably I'll check whether it's the old head system or faceplate first...

The prices are in USD$ and Jina has a head cap.

As St James mentioned above, only Shion and Noel (the latest of Migi's sculpts) have the faceplate system. All the older sculpts still have the head caps.

 

I wasn't aware Shion was a face plate boy too. That will be interesting since I have never seen one in person before. I am regretting ordering the default face up on my boy because to me they just seem too plain and Migi won't even let you choose the eye brow color. Fair brown eyebrows on a black haired boy is going to be odd, but it will have to do until I can send him off.

 

Just a question: Did anyone try a matching of Migi tan skin and Iple real skin?

Mhm, is it a really noticable different? I get a lot of mixed feedback on the resin match for these two. Alss, Migi's resin color blows my mind...I have two heads made within a year of eachother (late 2010 and July of 2011) and one is so yellow (matches an old VOlks body I have perfectly) and the other is SO pink, compared. I was hoping LM would match my pink head.

 

To reply to the Littlemonica matter. Oh hey queenobvious XD haha. Anyway, not sure if you were refering to me with that matter?

But I have the Jina on LM body. And yeah it;s a PERFECT match. Then again my Jina is not from the new batch. I think he's from early 2011... If the seller who sold it to me was honest as I had some problems. But I do not doubt she'd lie about that. Here's a pic of my boy for comparison:

Anyways, I haven't heard anything super recent but a few pages back someone put a list together of new resin matches and both LM and Souldoll were on her list as being good matches. I was planning on doing a Cho/Souldoll hybrid one day...like I said, though, that wasn't SUPER recent when I heard that. I think I'm going to ask for a LM body for Christmas, I really like how it looks reguardless of whether it's perfect or not.

Are LM and Souldoll resin really different? I swear company pictures tell you nothing >.< LM pictures always look so YELLOW but they have to be pinkish to match Migi...*siiigh* >.< hahah

Oh no dont believe it at all.... LM IS kinda pinkish. Cuz it doesnt match my brand new cho head. Or well it's not really that much of a bother, but yes. The 'not' resin match, is there. Levi does match with the current LM resin. But Levi's older.... The new Migi resin doesnt really match well with LM I'm afraid. Not that I bother so much, LM has really bad knees. They dont fit well in their joints, I cant STOP complaining about that. And then Atype body is even more annoying, the midjoint? Dont even get me started on that. It keeps popping out and its annoying as hell. It poses as a dream but its a pain to stand once you lift your doll.. Bam, he pops out of the midjoint again. I cant express how irritated I get with this every damn time haha. And it's not fixable either. Really the body itself is just, I dunno doesnt fit well into the joint if you ask me, thus; he keeps popping out.

But about soulldoll I still have no clue if it matches the new resin, some say it does, some say it doesnt. If Souldoll is a bit more yellow. I'd say it would go with Migi's new resin.... No talking bad about Migi or something. But they DID told their resin would be more pink, and I cant agree with that at all. It's more yellowed if you ask me : / I have my ryu on a recent luts body (both recent actually) and it 'kinda' matches. It's really visible it doesnt match perfectly with flash on. It doesnt annoy me as much tho, it works. but could be better XD

 

MG normal resin is supposed to be pinkish? I bought a Shion head secondhand in May of this year -- how much earlier had the sculpt come out? -- and it matches a 2010 Volks SDGr body perfectly. I'd never describe it as pinkish normal, or even peachy normal!

 

Omg my head is spinning D: I can't keep up with Migi's resin changes!! I have a 2010 Ryu who is super yellow and matches a 2005 Volks body and I have a super pink 2011 Jina and Yuri and they match my actualy Migidoll body better than my Ryu who was made the same year as the body. a;ldfkj I don't know what to get!

I feel like maybe each sculpt has it's own color? O_o

Ugh so now I really have no idea what bodies to get them. @KyoyaxL I think LM has really pretty bodies, does the posing take away from it that much? You did buy a second one so is the trouble of posing worth it? I just don't even know what to do anymore >.<

 

I'd love a Ryu on the DOI body, so i was just wondering what the resin match between Migi & Dream of doll is like, and also about the neck reference an all.

The proportion is good. Resin match is horrendous.
DOD only have their pink Normal Skin as their default for their dolls. Once in a while they'd offer a limited edition doll in tan.

What if i was to get a migi head and somehow get it blushed to match DOD NS? or vice versa.

 

You could have the head blushed to match but it would certainly be time consuming.

 

All this resin matching business makes my head spin. I'm considering getting a SoulDoll body for the Ryu head I purchased in September, but now I'm wondering if it's worth the risk...

I also have a kind of stupid question. Does Migi still operate on ordering periods? I just noticed yesterday that everything on the site is sold out. o_o;;;

 

I was wondering what's up with migi being sold out suddenly as well. Was planning on getting a couple of dolls soon and everything was fine up until recently. If anyone has any idea that'd be awesome.

 

Another thing from me - I've pretty much decided to get my Ryu a LittleMonica body. I think the resin match on the Jina earlier in this thread is beautiful, but I'm a bit nervous because I recall there being a post somewhere that the different sculpts on Migi actually have variations in their resin, too... That might have been old news, though... I can't remember.

At any rate... does anyone have a Ryu head they can compare to the LM body? ;o; This would be my first hybrid, and though I won't be able to afford the body until next year some time, it would put my mind at ease to know I won't have a scary looking two-tone thing going... XD

 

Yes it's probably old news. ^^ Actually the Migidoll NS matches the Lati NS (also Leekeworld and Soom). I'm not sure about Little Monica, I know the proportions are good, but the resin match I don't know.

 

I just found out about Migi today and they do have some lovely dolls! It drives me crazy when places have pages and pages of stuff showing as 'sold out,' though.

 

I'm not sure why Migidoll's are all sold out right now, unless they're trying to catch up on orders. They don't operate on order periods any more.

I'm really peeved at Migidoll right now. I confirmed the last payment for my layaway at the beginning of October, and they said they would ship beginning of November. End of October rolls around and I ask for an update out of curiosity and they tell me i still have xx amount left to pay on my order. Now my dolls aren't shipping until December. : / I'm really irritated about this, especially since I confirmed it already and it seems they forgot to mark it or something? -sigh-

EDIT: Someone asked Migidoll about the 'sold out' tags and this was their response;

'm sorry for late reply.
We are afraid but our products has been out of stock right now.
It is because may orders palced have been delayed for shipping.
For a while we would not accept orders.
When the time comes when we become able to sell dolls, we would inform of that on our web site.

You probably heard that from me but I was just speculating...I was asking if other people thought this based on different heads matching different bodies. So to rest your mind, I am pretty sure this is untrue I was just asking ^^

I am thinking of going with LM too but for a Jina...I heard the knees are really bad on it though. Do you plan on getting A or B type for your Ryu? (:

Yeah... I understand your frustration. I paid my Ryu head in full on September 22nd. I was told it would ship "end of October," but still no shipping notice, and I can't get a response regarding when it will ship. I'm not happy at all. I'm feeling kind of depressed because I'm going through all of this waiting, and it's not even a full doll... Migi is lucky I've been in love with this head for years. >_>;;

The knees are bad? Hmmm. I think I'm going to get type A. I really like the posability, and I think it's pretty. I was originally going to get a Soul Doll body... but I like the aesthetics of the LM body better.

The Jina head is so pretty. ^^ Migi's sculpts are gorgeous... I may have to get more than just my Ryu one day. XD

 

Not sure if anyone replied to you on this but yes the Migidoll resin matches the Migi heads perfectly XD The last picture I posted in this thread (pg 44) is a 2011 Jina on a 2010 body. It's perfect, I also have a 2010 Ryu who the body is actually for (bougt the body second hand though and Ryu from Migi) and he matches really well, perfect in pictures, but now he has ever so slight yellowing so my newer Migi heads match a lot better.

That's what I heard from @KyoyaxL and possibly someone else but I cannot say for sure...either way I think I am going to brave it and get one. I also like the look of it...I plan to get a Cho/SoulDouble hybrid one day too.

When I ordered my Jina head over the summer it actually took about two months. In fact, I sent an e-mail to make sure Migi had not forgotten and then she sent it out within the week. I am not sure if this has changed but form what I have heard they are currently sold out because of shipping delays. Also, I think I saw a Jina or two in the marketplace if you want to try secondhand!

 

I appreciate the reassurance. This will be my first hybrid, so I'm nervous. XD One less thing to worry about is definitely good!

I saw a thread where the LM type A body was compared extensively to the CrobiDoll R-Line body, and it looked like it posed really well. The knees aren't double jointed, but it was still able to hold some really nice poses without sueding. That and the knowledge that the resin should be a good match sold me. I like it too much not to get it!

Now, if only I could afford to get it sooner. My poor Ryu head will probably have no body until sometime after the first of the year.

I think I'd like to get an Owen someday... I'm not sure what I love about him, but I think he's sweet. Ryu was one of my "grail" dolls though... so I'm so thrilled for him to arrive.

Nope! Migi has marked everything "sold out" for now because they have a huge back log of orders to ship, which are going out late (my head is one of those XD). As soon as they get all caught up, I think Ryeong should be available again. Migi stated an announcement would be posted when they are taking orders again.

 

I hope everything gets straightened out soon. I really wanna get my boys home!

Oh, I have a Cho on a Little Monica body. Resin match isn't bad but my Cho head is a slightly yellowed NS while the LM body is a pink NS. The difference in color isn't too noticeable in pictures. I barely noticed the difference now (haven't really paid much attention to my SDs lately)
Pictures of this year's resin batch would be nice though. I've been wondering if a 2011 Jina would look good on the Ariadoll body.

 

When did the Shion sculpt come out? In April of this year I bought a NS one secondhand from someone in Europe. The head exactly matches my Volks SDGr (okita body, so it's a bit older) body. Definitely not a pinkish head (or headback and faceplate, as that's what it is). Additionally, I finally got around to trimming the too-long/too-wide flanges of the head back. Still have some fine-sanding to do, but the Shion looks much beter now that the flanges aren't sticking out past the jawline of the faceplate.

 

I know the feeling!! I really didn't expect such a long wait for my Ryu head. >_<;; It's six weeks today... that's twice as long as I thought it would be. I'm now a bit sad to think I waited all this time just for a head... I wish I had a body for him.

Oh, that would be amazing!! I hope you're able to get it. Cho is such a pretty sculpt. ^^

 

Pfff, oh man, now I kinda wish I just bit the bullet and ordered my Owen head. Kind of no telling when they'll open up orders again. XP Ho'well, guess it just gives me the chance to save up all the money I wanted to have before ordering the head.

Also, I was about to do some searching after I posted, but I figure I'll ask here anyway. Does anyone here have a doll with the Migidoll body? I've been curious about how it handles and poses. Not sure if I'll be getting it for my Owen when I do eventually get him; I may just end up hybriding him, but I'm still fairly curious about it. xD

I love the look and feel of the body- the only other two bodies I have had were a Volks sd13 and now a Super Gem from 2009. To me it makes the Soom body feel more like plastic and itself more like porcelaine or something and it is definitely prettier than the Volks SD13. I have no problem with the leg joints they seem good for posing, but the shoulder locks are a real pain. If given the choice I would prefer a different body just because of that. Everything else is fine... I do not think he slouches very well ( if you want that capability) but the torso joint is good otherwise- no problems. Mine, however is a bit loose right now and needs to be restrung, in the past I remember him being a good stand-er! Now he usually kneels X3
