[Adopted] Mature 1/6 Dolls

Sep 27, 2012

    1. @Idoru Aaaah! I was super rushed and in the middle of a move this year, but next year I'll be better coordinated and will post and get feedback on who to bring and stuff, lol. I only had my littles out for a few hours on Sunday, tbh :XD: Thanks so much! :D

    2. I'll definitely be there next year with my assorted jumble, so you'll have to bring at least these two. :3c I want to see a Little Ifi in personnnn...!!

    3. They are easy to pack, so they'll definitely be there! And since I'm done with school, I'll have more time to work on them, so they'll hopefully have nice outfits and wigs, and Lavellan will be getting a new faceup/lighter vallaslin (I decided I don't like the high-contrast vallaslin so much, and also found a better method when messing with Kallai's :)). :D

    4. Thank you, I'll keep my eyes open!

    5. I went and looked at Little Monica's Muse Harmoney dolls on a whim, and I think I'm in love. Muse Harmony Eric is now at the to hp of my wishlist. Though I wish his body was jointed. And I'm also dreaming of DC and DZ mature tiny bodied hybrids. :D Oh dear... :chomp:

    6. I wish it was jointed toooo... Though at this scale, I'm not sure that I care as much as I do with the bigger ones! I'm planning on getting a Maskcat Feline eventually... So I'll be able to experience the single piece torso haha! Eventually anyway... I have so many on my wishlist now!

    7. goodness some of these tinies are so gorgeous. I wondered if mature sculpts would lose some of that detail at this scale but I'm happily mistaken :>

    8. I have a LM Muse Eric. At first I didn't like the body, but now I do like it. No floppy slouching issues. Though, I really don't like the hands. Just too paddle like.

Also a question. My guy still doesn't have any clothes or shoes. Is the LM Muse Eric close to Momoko size? I've seen some styles that could be used for a guy. He is my last doll that needs clothes.

    9. Hi all~ I was wondering if anyone knew any mature male bodies around 25-30cm that might work with this head? The neck circumference is around 5.5cm! (I tried looking through the thread but there's so much going on that I got a little lost... :sweat )

Also, this is probably a long shot, but does anyone know any other mature male dolls in the 25-30cm range that are in an anime style like that head? I'm trying to shell a specific character, but I'm having a terrible time, haha... Any help would be so appreciated!

    10. Have you looked at Bluefairy's Pocket Fairies? They now make a "brother" body that's 22cm tall. The dolls' faces are pretty stylized, though I'm not sure if they're anime style. I'm personally planning to shell an anime character as one of their Pocket Fairies.

    11. Late reply, whoops~ But thank you for the suggestion! They've got a couple different bodies to look at there, so I'll keep them in mind!

I've now also fallen in love with Batchix's Clever Littles as well, so... I guesss I'm gonna have a bunch of mature tinies eventually. :sweat

    12. The Clever Littles are amazing, sexy little buggers. I'd love to have a handful of them!
*cough* but at this rate, they'd all be running around starkers forever. lol I neeeeeed to make cloooothes!

    13. I hear you on the clothes front. Gunari (Lume Koit) STILL has zero clothes and I've had him finished for like... 4? years.

    14. Yeeeah that's the thing that really stops me from getting a Clever Little of my own...! Even though I'm totally in love with the artist cast I have in my studio waiting for me to face him up and make him a wig before I send him home.

    15. How's the posing of the LM Muse dolls? Can they cross their arms?

    16. @Leo Pheonix yes my Muse Eric can cross his arms. In fact that is how they tend to be all the time. I think it's the strings and the single joints. Limited poses as compared to like a FairyLine, but no floppy doll syndrome either (I'm looking at you older DC tinies).

    18. I love the pic, @abris! Her outfit is just perfectly put together. I neeeeeed those sneakers.

    19. @abris I love this! She looks so tiny and perfect, I love the dog too.

Has everyone seen this yet?? Magic Mirror put up a preorder for a 25cm fairy...! New Doll - Magic Mirror May - 25cm Sidhe She's BEAUTIFUL, and her tiny head would probably be a good match with Clever Littles...!

    20. I've been going back and forth through all the photos of her for hours now :XD: And I love the posing video on Instagram and how you can really see how small she is in it. She's so gorgeous and dainty looking!
I am super tempted to order her, especially as it's my birthday later this month so I can sort of justify getting a new doll. I just wish there was an option for grey resin, although the tan looks nice.

      • x 1
    21. If she came in grey I wouldn't be able to contain myself!! That being said, I AM looking at mint and tan...!! <3 I wonder if I can justify it... somehow...

    22. I actually really want her to go with my Clever Little, but I'm waiting to buy Kiera! Now I'm so torn! I'd love her in that mint color. aaah.

      • x 1
    23. The mint colour looks lovely (it reminds me of mint ice cream!), I'm just not quite sure how I'd style her if she was that colour. I love fantasy coloured dolls, but I never know quite what to do with them - that's partly why I love grey resin so much, since it seems to work with pretty much any other colour or style. And even though I don't think I'd order it, I'm curious to see the pink resin too.

And as for justifying buying her: I read it as though she's at a special price at the moment ("240โ‚ฌ for this first preorder"), so she might cost more the next time she's up for preorder. It's just whether you want to hold out for a different resin colour in the future, which is what I'm trying to decide about right now.:whee:

    24. I have been loving mature tinies lately! The fact that they are so portable and the clothes are easier to find/ more affordable makes them my favorite size โ™ฅ Does anyone have an IrrealDoll Enoki or any of the Dust of Dolls Appi dolls?

    25. I have to agree, this is one of my favorite size categories. I just saw that magic mirrors came out with a mature 1/6 for preorder this october!! 25cm tall and beautifully sculpted. Anyone else thinking about ordering her? I'm super tempted.

    26. I don't have a mint colored doll, but I have one that's light blue. I want to get her a white wig, but her she is in a borrowed grey one.

    27. I just placed an order for Magic Mirror May in pink resin. It was a toss-up between pink and tan but finally pink won out. Now I'm really worried about finding size 2-3 wigs and 4 or 5mm eyes. Does anyone know of a source for either? May will be my first 1/6 size doll and I have absolutely nothing on hand that will fit her.

    28. Ancient Tales on Etsy used to sell 4mm eyes, I believe. They are not listed now (maybe they are out of stock?). You could ask them. I have some of their 6mm eyes, and they are quite nice - handmade, of course, but they match well and look realistic. The colors in person are not quite as bright as in their photos (at least in my opinion).

    29. I think All That Glitters makes eyes that small! Wigs might be harder... That's kind of why I make my own now. Heh.

    30. Dreaming Tree Studio makes eyes down to, I think, 2mm. Amanda is lovely to work with and the prices are extremely reasonable. She casts all the eyes herself and you can order custom eyes as well without breaking the bank. I think the majority of my tiny guys wear DTS eyes. The smallest I have are in my Batchix Clever Littles at 4mm.

Wigs... there's a challenge. I think I've seen some really small wigs (maybe a 3?) at Jpop but I might be misremembering that.

    31. Thanks for the input, @StellaMarigold @Idoru @Iron_Dog ! I took a quick look at Jpop but their smallest wigs were 3-4, not 2-3. Monique makes a few wigs in size 3 1/4. That would work if I can find a tiny silicone cap to put under it. I would try to make my own but I'm not sure I could work with that small a size, especially as I've had no luck making larger wigs. I love the All That Glitters eyes, although they're almost as expensive as regular size. Dreaming Tree Studio is inexpensive and located in New England, which is a big plus. It's nice to know there are a few options.

    32. With such a tiny head, you're only options might be making a wig yourself or commissioning one. I have the same issue with my Clever Littles. While I did order them Monique wigs, they don't stay on their heads, which is frustrating. I think my only option at this point is to make their wigs myself as I'm having a devil of a time finding their size, in silver/grey, no bangs and something past shoulder-length.

    33. Thanks @Zaliayn - I'm not on Facebook so I miss stuff like this.

I'm going to wait until I have the doll in hand before I order anything. Otherwise I'll order eyes and the doll will arrive with the exact same color.

@Iron_Dog - I have some wool roving that I may be able to coax into a wig of sorts--just to tide me over until I can buy a better one. I have a few talents, but wig-making is not one of them.

    34. I've made wigs for several of my guys but they are of the faux fur/real fur variety and that's not an option with Sio and Rho due to the small wig size (3) and the amount of bulk that a fur wig has as far as seams go. Even with the thin-skin rabbit fur that I have, I would anticipate still having unworkable seam thickness for a size that small. I made a fur wig for my Lume Light and he wears a 4 wig and found the seams a little on the problematic side although he was still able to wear the wig more or less ok.

If I do muster up the courage to make their wigs, I'll be trying my hand at hard cap wigs. I haven't decided yet whether I'd use yarn or purchase some type of alpaca/mohair/whatnot. I have a lot of selection/variety in yarn (I have an overflowing 60L tub) and since I've never done a wig like that before it sort of seams like that might be my most cost-effective way to test out how well I can actually make one of these hard caps.

    35. Despite trying a few different methods I haven't succeeded at making a hard cap, but I do crochet caps for tiny dolls. It's not hard to do once you get the hang of it. It should be possible to knot, sew or glue alpaca/mohair/etc. to it without too much difficulty. I'll practice on my Realpukis before Magic Mirror May gets here. Who knows? I might make a wig yet.

    36. Oh yeah the pink looks gorgeous, I'm leaning towards the tan magic mirror since I have a pink nena from atelier momoni.

      @vermont chick
Also in regards to the 2-3 wigs, I believe amelia thimble from the tonner doll brand has that size head. I've seen a few bob cut styles for those dolls.

The banji doll from dollmore also has about that size head and dollmore has a decent selection of some small wigs.

    37. Thanks @mjtomich - I see several Amelia Thimble wigs at Facets by Marcia. Several of them have possibilities.

    38. Hello! I have an Enoki and an Appi Meel. They both are very nice to work with and very inspiring (even if the Appi is a bit hard to pose XD) :)
I have to say that it's sometimes hard to find things that fits my Meel (shoes, ans wigs) so I started to create things for her.

    39. I've finally caved, yesterday I ordered a Ancient Tales ELVA 2. Scrolling through this thread has been amazing, some of you get so creative in clothing your dolls. This girl is going to mean so many 'firsts' for me, like creating a wig for her, painting her tiny face and giving her a manicure. I've painted larger dolls, but when you shrink it down to this scale it's another feat entirely. XD

@abris Your park photo looks incredible!

    40. I tried an Amerlia Thimble wig on my Clever Little and it didn't work at all :/ It might work on May, since she seems to have a slightly rounder skull shape, but the narrow/oval shape of the Clever Little head didn't work in the thick wig cap AT ALL. I was bummed, but I figured it was a long shot when I bought it! I think customs are going to be the way to go for wigs at this size, unfortunately.

I love the eyes I have for my mature minis from Dreaming Tree Studio! The one downside is that they don't have stems, but I actually made some for them with apoxie sculpt so I can grab them and move them around better!

MAGIC MIRROR MAY IS SO BEAUTIFUL I AM ABSOLUTELY GOING TO BUY HER NO ONE CAN STOP ME BWAHAHAHAHA I'm so glad I checked DoA before time was up on this preorder! I'm definitely going to get her in the tan; it's a gorgeous shade! Aaaah, I'm addicted *squeals*

    41. Oh please post some pictures! I am so inspired by both of these sculpts โ™ฅ

    42. Wow, I appreciate the comments on the Amelia Thimble wig. Maybe I'll buy one to see how it fits, but I won't get the three I was considering until I know for sure.

Eyes without stems don't bother me, as I don't reposition eyes that small. I can barely get them in and looking in the same direction as it is! (Actually, stems might help me do that.)

I'm glad to see someone else is placing an order. It will be fun comparing notes. I'm still waiting for Nanyalin to send me an invoice.

@mjtomich - Have you ordered May yet?

    43. Yes - and I need her ;_;. Have bought two SDs as my first dolls, but can really see myself getting into mature tinies!

    44. I finally ordered more respirator filters so I can get more of my gang of mostly blank mature tinies painted.

    45. I've been reading through this whole thread the past few weeks bc I'm dying to get my hands on a male mature 1/6 doll. The Soom Mini Gems are sort of my grail dolls bc I love their torso sculpt so much but I haven't had any luck in getting my hands on one and they're impossible for me to find second hand (I might simply be too stupid/blind to find them tho).
However thanks to the suggestions in this thread I've stumbled over the Compassion Doll 1/6 boys and I'm in LOVE! But again way to stupid to navigate Taobao or Weidian. I cant even figure out how much they actually are or if they're in stock. Has anyone here had success in ordering one of them?

    46. Try using Spreenow. I just did a search and found this one there.

    47. Thank you so much! I did find the one I wanted via Spreenow but I'm still extremely confused about availability there's a cryptic (due to google translate) shop announcement that says "temporarily do not take the reservation" but the doll itself is still up in the shop. Hence my question if anyone has successfully ordered one.

(This is the one I want, btw: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=559978532873)

    48. Oh my GOSH I love him! He's new since last I looked... I need him, for sure. I think usually that means that there's no stock--Compassion is pretty good about marking when something is flat unavailable. I might order one for myself and let you know....! Thanks for alerting me to the new sculpt. ;)

    49. SAME! I'm totally smitten by this delicate sculpt. I want him so much. <3
Oooh please, if you order it'd be awesome if could share your experience.

      Ah, yes that'd make sense it's probably a made to order product. I can't figure out what the option "no spot do not shoot" is supposed to mean tho... Maybe no sanding? No faceup? It doesn't change the price for me if I select it. Dammit I hate you Google translate... ;A;

    50. I rely on my agent to let me know when I can't buy things tbh! Yoybuy is quite good about it. I will absolutely report back, I am pretty firm on getting him and Cheng (though probably later). They're PERFECT for some OCs I want to make. This new boy is like the ideal balance of delicate and masculine for my character... Ugh I'm so smitten.

      • x 1
    51. Sounds great! I've only used Taobao once and that was via a private agent I knew from Poupeegirl (an avatar dress up and fashion blog game).

Oh yeah! Cheng is gorgeo us as well. I'm really tempted to get them both. I have several OC designs they'd be perfect for. I love how natural and organic those bodies look. A lot of tinies look a bit stiff or are too stylized for my taste but these boys.... OMG!

    52. Let us know if you get him. He is super handsome! <3

    53. I will! :)
And I'm dead set on getting him. He's even a bit cheaper than what I have saved up to spend for a male tiny (finally figured out the pricing options XDD)...

    54. I really like momonita from momoni... I have seen one, and she is petite, but feminine..

      • x 1
    55. First payment made for my Magic Mirror May! Very exciting. She's going to look odd next to my DC Evangeline and Pathos Tale MiSheng, but I suppose it works, as she is a fairy after all! She should work well with the DC event doll I'm getting (Nehemie) as well :D.

She will be my motivation to work on the BJD horse I'd like to make - she needs a noble steed!

      • x 1
    56. Momonita is lovely - I like how distinctive the Atelier Momoni dolls are, with their curves and sweet little smiling faces. I hope you manage to get hold of one soon, if you're looking to buy :).

    57. I am very interestid in one, but the normal skin will be possible next year....
      I will wait patiently

      • x 2
    58. @Vanytie I made my first payment, too! So excited for her :D

@Idoru I am in love with Compassion Doll Elvis! It says in the listing, "different color to be additional color fee of 200 yuan," do you know if that means we can request him in different colors?? That would be amazing... I'd also love to see him next to a Clever Little, if you end up with him soon!

      • x 2
    59. I will absolutely take pictures of the 2 of them together if I get my Elvis before I give Clever Little back! I can't resist comparison photos. It is a sickness. ;)
