Many other things, in fact. She came out with a lot of stuff since she started Ludwig. (personal or fan stuff, but still)

I also think that we may actually have a chance to get them to release his head separately first! Many companies (and them, too) re-considered/ released things they did not plan to, after enough people poked them about it.
So maybe if we (who would really like to buy his head already) could somehow manage to ask them each after the other in a relatively short time period, they would start to consider a sale period for just his head... Well, MAYBE. But it would be totally worth a try.

 

Well, regarding Ludwig, I decided to patiently wait until my birthday (which is in early April). And if, by that time, I haven't had any news (like, an update, even if it is "sorry, not this year, can't manage") - well, there's Dollzone's Raymond with that really cool demon arm. Of course, he can't compare to Ludwig but at some point, even a veritable angel runs out of patience - and I'm definitely not one of those.

I like the idea of releasing some heads, first, and give the head-buyers kinda like a "guaranteed body option" when she's done with it so everyone who got a head and wants the body is kinda guaranteed to get one. Might be worth a try to mention this to Julia, huh?

 

Mentioning to her "en masse" might work, but I would hate to be too pushy. She is obviously putting her all into this. Then again, if she doesn't release him soon I worry that, in her perfectionist nature, she'll tweak and mod him beyond recognition. I already love him a little less since her last adjustments. ;.;

 

I really want to ask her for release him this year.
But afraid it will be too pushy as sadistic_x_blood said.
But I think the waiting time is too longggggg and no ending.

 

Fwiw, I sent Miho an email a couple of months ago asking about Ludwig with no reply as of yet.

I sent an email to Miho and she answered this:

Well, Ludwig will be available as head + body only, but I'm excited about the promotion price!!!

Uuuugh. I want Black Pearl so much, but I know she's only going to sell a few. Ludwig will probably be released every once in a while like Roderich and Edria, but she made it sound like Pearl wouldn't. T^T

 

Ain't it sad how we all troll the forum to see if there's news in this thread, and get excited when it pops up in bold?

Pearl hinges on her finishing the body too. He's the one I really wish she'd go ahead and release as a head. Ludwig is her "next step as an artist" baby, so she's not going to budge on releasing him as a whole doll. And it would keep the company fresh, for lack of a better word, with a truly new release.

What keeps rolling around in my head was the timeframe ebfore she got sick. Ludwig -- whoel doll -- was supposed to be ready for imminent release. Scheduling the casting factory. Then after she got sick, the body was barely done. I'm sure she has to work slwoer as not to retrigger the allergies, but still. It was just weird.

The body will be glorious when it's finished. Just not sure what I'll be able or want to buy. Life moves on and other things -- not just dolls -- vie for attention.

 

One of Julia's quirks is that she's a serious perfectionist. Just look at how many times she's redone Ludwig. I'm sure the body is getting made and unmade over and over. Julia's eye for detail gives us such wonderful dolls, but at the same time it may keep Pearl and Ludwig from us for way longer than she originally anticipated. I know Ludwig and his body are her Magnum Opus but I think if she doesn't just accept them as they are now she'll just keep tweeking them until the original idea is completely lost.

 

She's certainly running the very real danger of keeping tweaking them until I really lose interest in Ludwig and get someone else's doll ... I got my second WS Minimee head on the way and since I now got two, I'm starting to think getting one matching WS body might not be such a bad idea after all. But since I promised myself to get only one more large doll (until I've managed to find a larger flat, which will probably take years), getting that body means no Ludwig. I mean, Ludwig's cool and all but an in-production Ludwig that we haven't seen any new pics of in MONTHS just isn't as cool as Prince Nuada right here before me ... What's it in English? A bird in the hand's worth two in the bush?

 

My concern is the same as yours, sadistic_x_blood, that she work and rework the damned thing and end up overworking it, having lost the original vision. This pretty much happened with the head, although she did manage to backpedal a little and regain some of the magic. I am all for getting a thing just right but I know, as a fellow perfectionist, that you have to take a deep breath and say "That is good enough" before you get heartily sick and spoil it.

My life also moves on and I am not convinced I will have either the funds or the inclination for another full doll. However, others will, I am sure. I am still following this with interest.

 

Wow! He looks like her original concept of Ludwig before he was tweaked beyond recognition! I hope she releases him! (Famous last words.) :P

 

Oh awesome, love to see an update from her and he looks beautiful! Seems she posted these to her weibo account btw. And yeah it's good to see any sort of updates, even if it's for a new or revised head because switching gears can really help speed things up in the long run and help get over an 'artist block', if they're having troubles with certain aspects of a project. Hope this means good things to come soon

 

I seriously, SERIOUSLY wanted a Ludwig head. However, we haven't heard any sort of update since...last year sometime? Is it still going to be released or has it been shelved. I'm afraid that this has taken so long that a lot of the initial excitement over the doll has now died.

 

According to Miho, Julia is still working on Ludwig. There was zero mention of a release date though. I do so wish she'd just release the head first since that part is done, but I think she's focusing on the elf jewelry release at the moment.

 

Well, as long as she's still working on him ... Since I already broke my "no more big dolls"-rule to get an SD body for my Volks-DWC-head, I really only have space left for one more big doll. And not really much space for smaller dolls, either. And since I got quite a batch of money saved up now (for Ludwig), I'm more and more tempted to just go ahead and get that Black Cat Lucas from Mandarake ... (Or that Dollzone Raymond in WS, cos that resin coulour actually might fit my two floating WS Minimee heads ...)

It's kinda turning into something of a running gag for me and my folks here: Waiting for Ludwig. A lot like "Waiting for Godot" - only that Godot's more likely to finally show up ...

 

I'm pretty much still lurking and waiting too -- mostly holding onto the hope that, even if Julia decides to drop any further work on the 70cm body, she'd still be willing to cast and sell the Ludwig head itself since it's already completed anyway.

I have pretty much given up on him. The face changes and the long wait have probably saved me from having to buy him. I will still watch with interest and he might still tip it, but I now doubt it.

 

I am very, very patient. Mostly because I don't actually need him - I shouldn't be shelling that character at all... I'm just not going to be able to resist an entire doll by Julia's hand. I wonder if he is ever going to materialise though. Julia seems to be focussing on other things, like different versions and styles for her existing heads (and as such will make me end up with THREE Roderich heads - as you can see, I feel compelled to buy just about anything she makes, and then in multiples ).

Now I'm feeling tempted by Mr Dollshe's David, for the same character I'd use Ludwig for... But I keep dreaming of that LLT resin. It is very simply the most beautiful, high-quality resin I have ever seen, and to think of a complete doll like that... *drools*

Interesting that you mention the new Dollshe chap. Those two companies definitely share a market. People who like one will almost certainly like the other. I don't think the face (or what we can see of it) is so similar to Ludwig that it makes him obselete, but I am sure there are other people who will be lured away because of him.

Has anyone asked LLT or Julia recently about progress or whether, in fact, Ludwig will be released at all?

 

I had an email from LLT just a couple of weeks ago that said he was planned to come out after the open eyed Roderich sale.

 

Let's hope that means sometime this year, then. In the past, LLT has often opened sale periods during the October-November months, so a small part of me is daring to hope again that Ludwig is going to happen sometime in the foreseeable future.

Dollshe's David is very beautiful, but I think I'm going to need to see owner pictures before I can form a final opinion of the sculpt. He doesn't give me the same vibe as the Ludwig sculpt, though, so unfortunately he just wouldn't work for me as an alternative.

 

That is interesting about the release date. It is one step more concrete than the on-going "soon" we have been getting. Still no idea of when this might be, though. It would be very useful if they gave us some progress pics to keep us keen. *looks with puppy dog eyes*

Ludwig (cleft chinnnnnnn! square jawwwwwww!) is much more suitable to the character I have in mind than Dollshe's David , but somehow they do connect in my mind... I love the detail on the Dollshe body (argh, those FEET!). That said, I suspect Julia's work will be a bit more "restrained", for lack of a better term, and I suspect I will like it better as a whole. I agree with meili-melee about wanting to see owner pictures of the Dollshe boy - and close-ups of his face too. Then again, he's probably not for me in any case, and I have to admit that despite my LLT addiction, if Ludwig ends up costing an arm and a leg, I will start shilly-shallying again. $750 (without event discount) + customs taxes for the Dollshe boy does bring my wallet close to a heart attack. I have never seen or held a Dollshe doll for real and would probably not dare to risk it. LLT though... Me so very definitely likey. I'm waiting to see what hands and feet she'll come of with, though - yes, progress pictures would be really nice, I'll just add my *puppy dog eyes* to MadamMauMau's. Hands and feet are ridiculously important to me.

Well, we'll see. Ludwig isn't even here yet.

 

Ludwig had a "feel" about him that suited a character that I had in mind and at the time no other doll came even close. The wait has left me feeling somewhat disappointed and now my love for Ludwig has waned. Luckily for me the Freakstyle Drazen head was recently released and although he doesn't have the cleft chin his other facial features fit with my character and he's a fine, fine substitute. I will be bowing out of the Ludwig race but I'll watch with interest to see when (or if) he gets released. Good luck to those of you with patience.

 

@Sigune: Well, if she's still planning to use the hand sculpts she was working on from before -- as seen in her work-in-progress photoset here -- then we know at least that the hands should be plenty gorgeous.

 

Thanks for the reminder! It's been so long that I had quite forgotten about the hands. How could I! They are so gorgeous... I trust Julia will manage lovely feet as well .

Look, it's simple: she HAS to complete this doll. Imagine if all the lovely parts we've seen so far came to nothing... No, we shan't have any of that!

 

I'm still holding on to my Ludwig fund. I've added quite a bit of money to it, too. So I guess if I really should happen to not want Ludwig anymore (yeah, right, as if ...), I can always save up some more and finally try getting one of those gorgeous Volks Limiteds ...

And it's really funny that David's brought up into the discussion! I dropped my jaw when I saw him but yes, I can also say he's not an alternative for the character I have in mind(( They are too different!

I'm glad there's news, but I'll believe it when I see a doll on her site with an order form next to it. Even when I look at the pictures, I don't get that same tingle, but that's mainly because I don't believe he'll come out. I hope desperately to be proven wrong. I also wanted her Black Pearl, also waiting for that new body.

I too get a different vibe from the Kuncci sculpt, though he is an intriguing concept.

Major kudos to Khell for still having your stash! I'm afraid I'm about to be tempted by a con exclusive. I've also been bowled over by Granado's new Andrew sculpt, 'cause that one-off face up looks like Eric Northman via Anne Rice. He should be out later as a basic though.

 

Azha Nei, I'm currently very, VERY tempted to use my Ludwig-stash for a gray skin Demon Claude over at Iplehouse. Plus outfit, cos that's one absolutely awesome outfit and it would be GREAT for my ice king. But then - well, I can always try to commission someone to make me a similar outfit, right? And I'm pretty sure I'd regret getting Claude once Ludwig is released (whenever that might be) because there really only is space here for one more big doll ...

 

Well, I admit that when I received a notification that this thread was being updated, my first thought was, "Could it BE?!"

But... Yes. I share the skepticism. It's okay though. I really should not be getting another large doll. Then again, should he make an appearance, I won't be able to resist. I don't think I can really be tempted to get another doll in Ludwig's stead because - well, the thing that makes him irresistible is that he would be a complete doll from Julia's hand. A complete doll in that gorgeous LLT resin, too! Julia is one of two artists whose every doll I seem to want ...

 

I keep saying I don't have room for more big dolls, yet they keep poppng up on my wish list.

I've been safe from the Addiction line so far, but that is a gorgeous outfit for Claude.

I've admired Julia's art for awhile, but Ludwig is the first one that's made me want to invest in her pieces. I try to be really picky with the dolls I buy. Otherwise I'd be living out of my car with the dolls in the back seat.

Oh, what a tease. That loooks no further on than that picture from what, over a year ago? Still, at least she has got it out of the box and is looking at it again. Now, don't get distracted. Focus. You can do it.

 

WAAAAAAAAH! So hope is not lost! I'm at once relieved and dreading to have to get a large, expensive doll through customs (= utter financial ruin :p)...

I like the other heads too... I'l going to have to get them just to look at them, because I really haven't got any characters for them (...though I suppose Ahaz would make a great Cai), and far too many dolls already XD. Oh, the loveliness...

 

LOL. I'd have to dig out the first torso pictures, but she's saying she been studying and correcting musculature.

OK, here it is, the first front shot we got of the torso. I'm not an artist, and curse the different angles and lighting, but I see differences in the waist and pecs. In the waist there used to be a smaller roll right under the ribs. That's been smoothed out in the new torso. And the pec muscles have been rounded and softened. They're very angular in the first sculpt.

May this be a light at the end of a long, long tunnel.

 

Yes, I am sure she has done something with it, but so difficult to see with just that shot. I wonder if she is broadening the hips and shortening the neck. Those were the two things I thought needed some fiddlage.

And did you see her reponse to those who were asking after Ludwig?

"Thank you for remembering him, there're still some problems need to be solved, I'll do my best:3"

So, lots of fiddling ahead, by the sounds of it. Not very optimistic for a pending release.

 

Well, whenever he's released - I'll be ready! And probably, by then, will have some extra money for a nice face-up and custom wig etc.

 

Yep, still here, still willing to wait. Honestly, I'm just glad that Ludwig hasn't ended up indefinitely on the back burner.

On another note, even despite my desire to see Ludwig finished, I'm happy to see that Julia has another female sculpt in the works, as I'd love to have another LLT girl in my collection and I'm liking Red Dove's features so far. Ahaz didn't appeal to me as much at first, but he's growing on me too with this latest photo. They're both still in their rough stages, but since Julia specified their planned release in 2014 but didn't mention any timeline for the Ludwig body, I get the impression that they're likely to go on sale before Ludwig is completed.

 

I am hoping that this is the case. If she's still only going to sell Ludwig as a full doll, I'd rather see how I feel about the Ahaz head for my OC first. Then if he doesn't work, I'll get Ludwig and swap the Ahaz head onto Ludwig's body.

 

Yeah, saw that bit about "problems." I am glad to see he hasn't been shoved under the bed (favorite hiding place for writers of half-finished manuscripts )

I still wish she'd go ahead and sell his head first, then offer the body alone when she's finally done. But I think it's in her heart that Ludwig is the first full doll, and she conceptualized him as a whole, and that's the end to that. OK, I can appreciate that. Then can I get Black's head as a consolation prize?

Nah, it took K-Doll six years to finish her first full doll Khan. I'm sure Julia will get him done. It's just the kind of thing you have to expect from a solo artist who works in multiple mediums, some people just have a lot of other demands on their time. Throw health issues into that mix and you stretch the timeline even more.

He is Onigami II.

 

I have given up on Ludwig. I would be extremely surprised if he ever comes out. I think Julia changed him then lost the feel for him. Shame, as even the amended version was worth releasing. Anyway, I am always prepared to be surprised, but I certainly don't expect him.

 

I'm still saving money. Can't hurt to have some extra money available, after all, even if Ludwig's never released.

 

I've gone from checking Julia's flickr and the LLT website on a daily basis to just once a week now - Ludwig's still my grail doll and I'm ready to produce thousands of dollars just to get him ,m,

LLT is releasing two new heads though, and there was a post on flickr a while back that mentioned 'Ahaz' being released in 2014

Popping into the convo for a minute too. I'm bringing home Red Dove. I'm frankly surprised that he's shipping already - it hasn't been a month. Not sure which body I'll get yet&#8230;but excited never the less.
