[Adopted] IpleHouse JiD Mini Discussion Part 18

Apr 5, 2016

    1. Hi there! I only just bought my first JID earlier this year, so I'm still pretty new to the whole thing I guess.

    2. @Musume she's beautiful! I love her little crocheted toy -- did you make that? and I'm glad to be back even though I can't do much in the hobby anymore. I mostly was on here when I had a job; I had to quit to move (plus I'm really too sick to handle a job) but now other than the rare art commission, I have no fun money to buy doll stuff with.

I don't feel up to making a mess with my faceup stuff, but maybe I'll finally sew Yael a full outfit after five years? She's up in Laur's box with her so she doesn't get any sun, even the bits that get through my blackout shades and dark closet. I'm still pretty proud of the handsewing job I did on her shirt. In the meantime I will be a Doll Advisor for Mary and her new little friend.

    3. Musume - JID guys are great at posing, especially the model body with mobility joint.

Here's my Owen, sitting cross-legged on the floor, having a Father's Day tea party with his little girl....

    4. @ellernock thank you! Actually, my mom did the dog. Although I know the basics about crochet and I'm practicing, she has some serious skills (proud daughter here, though).
I love handsewing, I think you should go ahead and do a new outfit!!

@MB Lilac that is great info, thanks! And wow, that is a good pose! Did the pant got on the way? Or it is stretchy?

    5. @Musume yeah, I get you, my mom does like 99% of the sewing in the family. she just finished two 9 foot cushions for a window seat for her boss as a favor. i am in awe sometimes of how much stuff she gets done. it does mean that i have a sewing machine and sergers available plus help if i ever need it, which i usually do when it comes to sewing stuff. i've been sewing since i was 6, but it was more as a hobby than anything i did a lot of learning for. the most recent sewing i've done was a pillow i made for a friend out of some remnants from pajama pants i had hemmed -- i am very, very short (4'11") and pajama pants, which are most of the pants i wear daily, usually are like a foot too long for me and have to be trimmed and hemmed. i steal the hems afterwards and squirrel them away or use them, so i have a decent stash of small pieces of fabric. my friend has two dachshunds and i still had the hems left over from a pair of dachshund-print pajamas i have, so i managed to get them to be a small pillow. that was awhile ago, though. anything else has just been stitching up holes in my clothes. i'm excited to hopefully make some pants! i told a friend that when she gets her new tiny that she should send me the measurements, so i can make her some poofy pants -- her character design is hopefully going to be some sort of valentine's-themed bard.
before that, though, 1/4 scale pants have to be something i can handle again, especially since JIDs are so tricky anyway.

    6. No, his pants didn't get in the way. They aren't skin tight, so there's a bit of room for posing.

Got a shipping notice this morning - my second Owen is on his way. After just two weeks! I gave up on the FIDs, and decided to focus on JIDs instead, so ordered a second Owen for my bevy of JID ladies patiently waiting for a more mature guy, since he's the only option available. I figure with a totally different resin colour and face up, he should look quite different.

    7. @MB Lilac ooh, new boy! what faceup and resin color are you getting?

    8. @Musume - Nor did I until I tried it!
Venezia is very pretty! I love the little pillows and the bear! :)

    9. He's GLOW Special Real skin, but is coming blank. He'll get a custom face up and body blush by my friend, Charie Wilson, who does all my dolls. This Owen will be done darker. He'll be a brother to my other Owen, but I don't want him looking identical. And I'll need to come up with a new name for him. Can't have two "Owens".

      • x 1
    10. Ooh my Daniel is Glow Special Real and wow it's so gorgeous! I can't wait to see how your new Owen turns out. :)

    11. My Kassia was undressed, so I could show how she's been drilled - with a little help from my husband who pulled her apart for me, while I took the photos. All my JID girls have been drilled like this, and it makes a huge difference to posing.

View down into torso showing hole placements, and view from below showing new stringing.....

    12. @MB Lilac Thanks so much! It looks straightforward, lol, as everything that is well done does, I suppose. That's a big help. :)

    13. Glad to help. Although I don't know from which end my friend starts drilling, but I would guess it's from the bottom up.

    14. @MB Lilac Yeah, it's probably way easier and requires less awkward hand placement to drill up from the notch doohickeys into the pelvis as opposed to trying to get your hand and a drill into the torso cavity enough to drill down out of it. Have you picked a name for your new boy yet or are you waiting until you see him in person? With Yael, who wasn't already an established character (Laur, my other not-JID doll, though I kind of want to shell her in an Asa at some point for cohesion, is a character of mine) I kind of decided what origin her name would be from and picked it from there by going through lists on behindthename? I actually forgot what I was going to name her traveling buddy, who for now isn't around because I would need a cat doll.

    15. Could someone here with a Daniel do me a huge favor, and post a picture of him wearing a 10mm eye and a 12mm eye? I'm having his eyes opened wider when I send him off for a faceup, so I want to see if I could also get away with bigger eyes in turn. Thank you very much!

    16. ellernock - I'm terrible at naming anything, and usually stick with the company sculpt name. But I can't have two Owens. So I'll likely wait until he's painted and dressed , and see if there's anything he wants to be called.

My Isis ('I') is waiting patiently for him, as I ordered him for her.....

    17. she is going to blow him away!

    18. @MB Lilac Thanks so much for the reference photos! Saving for when I can get to my girl. Very much appreciated. ^_^

    19. I was just looking at clothing options on the Iplehouse web site
and while they had no new JID clothing they had numerous
FID woman outfits. What I found bothersome is that none of
these showed as FID/JID which was common in their last FID
woman offering. Last time the only FID specific items were
those with long pants or long dresses. That made sense as
the FIDs have somewhat longer legs. Several of these FID dresses
ought to work just fine on JIDs but are not sold as such.

Is the whole JID line threatened?

    20. I sure hope not. Maybe we should seriously start a campaign to try save them, by writing in their Q&A weekly.

      • x 1
    21. Has anyone bothered to even ASK if the JID line is gong to be discontinued or if the plan to no longer carry/sell clothing for them? might want to check that detail first? Explain 'why' you think they are quitting the line.

      • x 1
    22. Iple has done the same with the nYID mens line. At least, I haven't seen any new clothes added to the nYID mens in about a year :[

    23. I really hope that they won't discontinue the JID line bc right now I can't afford the dolls what I want to buy in the future :horror:

    24. I hope not either @vam31 ! I was so upset when they discontinued to the original line. Only way to get a Tania and Jerome is secondhand :(

    25. @PinkBear I feel you :( I don't know what would I do if Edwin and Colin were discontinued :horror: even I didn't see any second hand of them.
I can't understand the Iplehouse. They don't do any events and doesn't have any dealers. They don't make any clothes for JID anymore and started a new line with fantasy dolls.
And now this despair that I feel inside..... I would buy them right now to avoid that I may miss them but their price..:sigh

      • x 1
    26. the whole release of the Carved Heritage line WAS the event this summer. And they have put out a new BID, KID and now a YID girl.... and they have had only the 2 fantasy types .... don't forget the pet dolls... And the dealer thing, they never did and are not the only company to do that ... and of the ones that do... even Mint on Card has had enough BS that they are stopping all pre orders AND dropping some of the 'big name' lines totally... So really Iple is not in a down-spin. And ya ppl tend to keep JID boys when they get them... girls are much easier to get. And no one has said anything about Iple discontinuing the line... that is 100% buyer panic as they try and get rid of stock they have had sitting around for 'years'... and if they make new stuff the old stuff sits there... That's what happens when you 'over produce' it takes drastic measures to right that. They also have said in the past some suppliers of items (shoes) were giving them problems... that can't sell what suppliers are not coming through on. This is not a new problem either...

    27. Since I'm finding my older posts can't be edited because they are too old (and this photobucket bs is happening). I'm just going to post my two girls here.

Sky is a Special real skin Benny and Violet is a Ns Amy.

    28. Does this make it so you don't have to use the stupid butt pegs? I want my girl to wear shorts SO BADLY

    29. @Flipphazer
Sky is really interesting! I really want a special real Benny at some point for another old RP character doll, and it's always nice to see one. Are her legs modded? I can't find them in the picture, but I could just be misreading it. I love Violet's design and outfit <3 The soft pink really works with the sculpt, I think! What fiber is her wig?

      • x 1
    30. I'm not sure what you mean. Those 'pegs' at the top of the legs are inside the hip joint, so wouldn't show anyways.

    31. @Flipphazer oh I adore your Benny! Makes me want to get my hands on her!

I bring Pazuzu (yes again) who just got the most amazing dress from @Musume <3

      • x 7
    32. Neither of my girls are modded, my second post was directed to someone who had modded THEIR doll.

The fibers of the wigs...benny's is fur and the Amy has a yarn wig made by a wonderful lady at doll north with latex and yarn.

My g/f put together her clothing, she belongs half to her so I can't take full credit, though I did both faceups :) Ty for the comments!!

    33. The issue I have with the pegs is that when they sit it pushes their legs out of socket and the pegs stick out.....this makes it so they can't wear shorts or jeans because the material doesn't stretch enough.

    34. I wouldn't know, as my girls don't wear shorts or skimpy clothing. Mine either wear long fantasy gowns, or they wear stretchy leggings. So I've never noticed.

    35. Even if they don't pop up, she still has an extra butt on her butt. (also pardon my g/fs messy desk)
      [IMG]dollbutt2 by abhorant, on Flickr

    36. @Flipphazer - No I've never noticed. But out of curiosity, I I thought I'd subject one of my girls to the indignity of pulling her pants down, so I could take a look. Because she's strung differently (properly for a BJD), and the elastic doesn't go from leg to leg, but goes up her torso, the top of her legs don't bend far enough for those pegs to pop out. But she still has the same butt as your second photo.....

    37. And after that indignity, I thought she deserved a nicer photo....

    38. So finally it's my time to write in this thread, beacuse in the end of July I will order my JID Edwin :dance

      • x 2
    39. @Dolliie awesome!! i'm so excited for you. are you designing him after a character you have or are you just going to go with the flow when you get him? tell me about your doooolllll. :o

    40. @ellernock He is a character I had a long time ago named Nathan. Then he was a Collin but I sold all my dolls 2013 because I would quit collecting bjd's. After 4 years I'm buying my collection again. The main character in the story is Quinnie, my kid delf Lemon and he is her boyfriend :)

      My old Nathan JID Collin

    41. @Dolliie aww, it's nice that you're getting to reshell them! i sort of drifted out of the hobby in 2013 too, but i still have my girls. a friend of mine's getting her first doll this week so the interest came back!

    42. What skin tone is your girl in?? Thank you for showing me! I think I will wait on stringing them with the drill holes...it seems to not fix the butt issue which is the only thing that really bothers me...(and their far too small hands >.>)

    43. My Benny is light brown. Just the standard light brown. It's darker and very 'red' compared to how it used to be.

I'm with you on the hands, and think I actually prefer the older hands. At least they could hold something with those.

    44. Yay! My Edwin shipped! Jessica can stop hating me soon! LOL She's been waiting for her sweet heart for over 2 years >< I think she stopped beliving me a long time ago... Should I tell her or surprise her? And in the mean time.. I have to pic ONE outfit for him to greet her in LOL

    45. oops I forgot to share here! lol My first JID boy Edwin!

And with Jessica who can't be pried away from him right now XD

    46. He's adorable Lady Tiku. I really like the JID and I wish that Iplehouse would make more clothing/ shoes for them. In fact, I'd love to see more dolls being offered. (As much as I love Lawrence, Claude, and a few others in the FID size, the JIDs are still my preferred size.) Congrats on Edwin!! Seriously, how can you blame Jessica.... I love him, too.

Added: Dolliie, I see your Collin up there and he, too, is such a great looking guy.

    47. TY I've had him on my wish list since he came out (and so did Jess LOL)... I like the younger feel of the JID's myself... I will have a fid pair eventually (or 3[pairs] ><) but I have Sierra (who is to be Edwin's twin) and bodies for the 2 Kyle heads I got when the got rid of them. That will be my JID group XD I'ts shaping up

    48. Thank you, he really was. And I think he is the only doll i regret selling. But he did look a little to cute for the character :)

On that note, I was suposed to order Edwin today but got a really huge bill. So I have to rethink that. I have two options right now, either just wait until next month or order just Edwin without anything and then order clothes and wig next month. Decisions decisions...

    49. not sure if you meant wait to Sept. or not. but DC (to get the other limited clothing) is closed for another week yet. and shoes, wig tshirt and pants... one set always from Iple if you can manage cuz them buggers so damn hard to fit lol... yes i have a thing about leaving dolls w/o anything... i feel bad and it's like why did i get the doll if i have to hide him away for however long. Personally I can't do that, its why I will buy the extra's before a doll..... don't have issues putting that in a drawer for later XD

    50. @Lady Tiku Haha I understand what you mean xD I think I will wait until the end of August to order him. Because as you say it is better to wait than that he has to sit without clothes and wig :)

    51. @Dolliie your Collin is adorable! <3

@Lady Tiku Congrats on bringing him home!

Pazuzu was out for a quick light test (TOO BRIGHT; RETREAT) but she thankfully always looks good, even if I am just doing test shots

    52. @Roterwolkenvogel ahhhh belated me here, but she looks so great!!! And on the second photo, those gloves!!

@Flipphazer my girl has the mobility joint, and she can wear jeggings perfectly well. I find more difficult the knee peanut than those. I'd suggest trying to move the knot position, and get the legs strungt tightly. That way, those hip peanuts won't be bothering you.

@MB Lilac she looks great! I love the fabric you chose :D

@ellernock I'm late here, but welcome back!

@Lady Tiku handsome boy, congrats on the arrival!!

    53. My Kafka (Tania head) sits on the minifee body temporarily. She looks like a tadpole, but the color is well matched.

    54. She's beautiful. :aheartbea What skin colour is she? Normal skin?

      Dustbunnie

    55. So many beautiful dolls! I really need to pull out Malik for some more photos. Poor little guy's been a little neglected as of late for the big guys.

    56. @Dustbunnie, thanks ^__^
Head and body are normal both. There is a little more yellow than in reality at the photo, it's because of the lighting.

    57. @hoe-nir She is something special, I've never seen such a unique Tania. Great look for her.

      My Peregrin in new clothes.
