[Adopted] IpleHouse JiD Mini Discussion Part 18

Apr 5, 2016

    1. Thanks! It's because I was trying to replicate Boromir's outfit for my Kyle...

    2. Actually I think I also got a glow RS I about the same time you must have (around the discontinuation event?). That particular doll was a bit darker for some reason (I'd say between the 11-14 realskin and 11-14 light brown for mine). I got 2 more glow RS dolls after that and they look like my 11-14 realskin dolls. I think once in a while Iple does a RS batch that is just a little less uniform than their usual.

I also agree the older RS were such nice colors (both the paler 2010 and the 11-14). I guess now only the glow RS (sometimes) comes close. :)

    3. My Ryan arrived this week, I'm so pleased with him.

    4. Eeee, congratulations! :D:dance<3 What a sweetie he is! Is that the basic edition faceup? I like those soft eyebrows, because they give him such a cheery expression.

      • x 1
    5. @MB Lilac - Oh fantastic! :D I love it! You've done an amazing job.

    6. Thank you, @JennyNemesis ! I guess so, He's realskin and I would bet on face up C

    7. I love Daniel! Thankyou for sharing!

    8. You're welcome! I never thought my first Iple guy would be a JID. I always thought he'd be an SID, but clearly not. I really love how well these guys pose, and I'm so glad I managed to snag him with the Option C face up before they changed it.

      • x 1
    9. I feel the same way about the face up change. I'm glad I got mine when I did. I wouldn't purchase him now :(

    10. If I saw the sculpt for the first time ever, with that particular face up I wouldn't have bought him. If I had seen him blank on the other hand, then I would have bought him. He looks just like a young version of my DollShe Saint (his father).

    11. My Boris and Tania are nearly here - just waiting for customs charges to be calculated. (They must have been prioritising the orders for discontinued dolls because once I finished my layaway the emails to say the order was fully paid and the shipping email came through less than a minute apart).

    12. Ah I feel like I've gone back to ghosting again. Will need to fix that.

As always enjoying the new dolly pics. :)

I have taken some more of the twins. Yay!

      on Flickr

They'd been sitting on my desk for a while. Got the biggest fright of my life when I went to re-position Delilah's head and a giant daddy long leg spider walked up the site of her face!!! I screamed so loud my partner came running... to the rescue. Removed the offending creature and took it outside. Holy cow though... was very shaken up.

I'm now definitely very interested in drilling my JID girl for restringing. Has anyone done this with photos of the before and after string + parts arrangement that I can use as a reference? I've had a search but I can only find discussion chat on it rather than helper how to photos.

    13. @MB Lilac wow, that Boromir's outfit is so amazing! Where did you found those period-friendly decorations? The ones acting like fasteners? And the chainmail is simply amazing!

@guls207 is the glow RS more reddish?

@Dilly1109 Congrats!! :D I agree with Jenny, the faceup is very nice!

@Buzzibee wow your twins are amazing!! I love them, and the photo is great!

My I share Venezia? She is here posing with Coco (a Withdoll Rachel), since their characters are both models. I made those outfits, based on real-life inspirations!

    14. Thanks! I found those 'fasteners' at a little Chinese bead shop in downtown Toronto once. The chain mail is from a 'butcher's glove' my son gave me as a gift once. The two chain mail sleeves are actually two of the fingers of the glove.

Well, one thing led to another, and I was needing a groom for some wedding photos, and I thought I'd try my FID tuxedo on Owen. The shoulders are a little wide, and the sleeves and pant legs are too long, but I folded them in....

    15. Your Venezia is absolutely gorgeous, @Musume ! I don't remember--is she light brown skin?

@MB Lilac - Owen looks very debonair! Now I know what to do with the FID tuxedo that is just that little bit too snug on FID.

    16. @MB Lilac wow, those fasteners where an awesome find! And the glove reuse such a good idea! Owen looks amazing on the tuxedo! Love that sculpt, hope to own one someday.

@vermont chick thanks! Yes, she is Light Brown, but the glow version!

    17. I never tried the tux on Lawrence yet, so I'm hoping mine isn't quite as tight as everyone else's, but then Owen will inherit it. It just needs the sleeves and pants legs shortened - or just folded inwards.

I see his cummerbund needs to go down a bit too. Oh well, the bride hasn't arrived yet, so everything is good.

      • x 2
    18. Actually, most of the outfit fit my FID--it's only the cummerbund that was too tight. I'm thinking of making another one from a scarp of silk or taffeta. And the black oxford shoes are so tight going on that they're a real struggle to take off.

    19. That's good to know. Well, maybe not about the shoes. So I guess Owen won't be keeping the outfit.

    20. @equine-aurora - Lovely face-up! What is the design on her tattoo? I see some flowers but can't make out the rest.

    21. There's some other angles and pictures of her other tattoo's in the linked album but that one is "spring" in Russian with flowers around it. Calanthe can speak Russian.

    22. I'd say so, but that particular batch only. It looked like it would be at the midpoint of RS and LB.

    23. I've fallen off the face of the earth for a little while, and in the process I totally missed celebrating my own 47th birthday in doll form here (back in March xD)....
So here, extremely belated but always cheerful, is Ripley, our annual Foxy Birthday Caveman for 2017. :smallcake: [IMG]

Besides, when you're a megalomaniac like me, you don't really need an excuse to celebrate yourself at any time of the year. Every unbirthday is worth a party! [IMG]

    24. Jumping in here..I would love to see photos of JID in white resin. I have several KIDs in white resin and now considering Cordelia. :) thanks!

    25. @guls207 that is awesome to know! I'd like more reddish tans, though! Thanks for answering :D

      @JennyNemesis he looks great!

@MB Lilac I think Owen looks amazing!! Who will be his bride?

@equine-aurora she looks so cute, congrats on having her complete!

    26. Owen and Leona are a couple, so she is the bride....

    27. Wow, I've been away here too long. Love everyone's pictures!
@Musume , thank you. I really love my Ryan.
My Leona arrived last month. She's Ryan's sister.
I'll have to check if I have already added pictures to my Flickr.

    28. @Dilly1109 your siblings are so cute and relaxed at home! I love the drink and the bookshelves. Ryan has a dreamy look about him. <3

    29. @MB Lilac OMG that dress!! *dies* Your sewing skills are so amazing and inspiring! Leona looks great!

@Dilly1109 Congrats on Leona's arrival! I'm really liking that diorama you have in there!

    30. [IMG]

I have neglected my Iplehouses so much (except Pazuzu but that doesn't count cause she'd murder me if it were otherwise) as she is now however partially in France for tattoo work, I bring you Akira/Jeromé aka Asa/Ryan ;)

    31. Thanks! I think I've finally decided that I prefer my JIDs to the FIDs. Since the tux I bought for my FID guy can work on a JID, I tried the dress I'd made for Miho on my Isis, and it fit well too (just a bit long in the skirts, but she's in her flat feet). So good-bye to my FIDs. I'm going to get a second Owen instead, and have him painted darker, so Isis can have a guy of her own.

    32. @Roterwolkenvogel they look amazing! I love his faceup!

@MB Lilac that sounds like a plan! Owen is such a great sculpt, I do wish Iplehouse will release more like him. Your girl on this photo looks so stunning! I love that dress!!

    33. Every time I see that dress, I am just blown away. It is stunning. Your dolls look amazing. I'm glad there is still love for JIDs. Can't wait to see your new Owen when you get him home!

Also is that a tux that was sold as an iplehouse FID tux? If so...I'm definitely buying one for one of my JID boys if I can get my hands on one since JID clothes for boys are so few and far between. He looks amazing!

    34. Thanks! Yes, it's the tux that I bought for my Lawrence. I thought I'd try it on Owen - just to see if it would fit. I had to fold in the sleeves and pants legs, because they were all too long. But if I get rid of Lawrence, then I can make those alterations permanent. I haven't tried the FID shoes that I ordered with it though. I understand they are extremely tight on an FID, so maybe with socks they might be okay for a JID. I've not compared their foot lengths, but I know the JID and FID girls have the same size feet.

I haven't ordered another Owen just yet. Leona and Owen thought they'd better ask Issi first, to see if she was interested in meeting his brother - who is still in Korea. She said she was....... so now I better go order that brother.

    35. Oh wow! Both of those dresses! They are simply amazing!

    36. OMG Martha. I cannot even imagine the hours you must spend on those creations.

    37. Thanks! The white one was originally on an old art doll, and I reworked it to fit my JID girls a few years ago. The green one took most of February and March, and was intended for my FID Miho. But now I know it will work on my JID girls too, so I've decided to just stick with the JIDs.

I've just ordered a second Owen, and am actually feeling relieved, and excited again about my dolls after having come to my decision, and now I can start thinking about making this new guy some clothes. I've wanted to do a 'Braveheart' outfit for a while. Which means Isis will need something to go with that too.

    38. You do historic Celtic so marvelously I'll be anxious to see what you do with a Braveheart outfit.

    39. Thank you, @JennyNemesis and @Musume .
I love to set up scenes for my dolls, it's a bit of a shame I can never let them stay up for long, but at least I can play with them and take pictures of it.

      • x 1
    40. @MB Lilac , that dress is looking stunning on Isis!
So glad you found out you can use it for her.
It will be interesting to see what you come up with , I always love to follow your creative journeys.
So glad for Isis she will get a guy of her own.

    41. @MB Lilac if FID and JID girls have the same feet size, does that apply to heel feet too?
By the way, your girls are so stunning!! A Braveheart outfit would be amazing!

    42. I don't know. My FID is away right now, so I can't compare her feet size.

    43. @Musume - Are you thinking of putting FID heel feet on your JID so she can wear FID heel shoes? If so, you should know that JID and FID girl feet don't attach in the same way. The only FID girl shoes currently available come with feet made to fit them--feet that have only a bare suggestion of toes--and there would be no way to attach them to the JID ankles. The first generation of FID heel shoes were limited and designed for the super high heel feet, so even if you could find a pair of those on the marketplace, the higher arch wouldn't work with the JID foot.

I use JID heel shoes for my FID girls, using the regular FID heel feet. They're not an exact fit, although stockings or felt insoles can take up the slack.

    44. @MB Lilac Every time I see your marvellous creations I swoon. My dolls would kill for such amazing regalia! So much time and hard work is obvious in the pictures. Thanks for sharing. <3

@Roterwolkenvogel Such an intense photo. I've recently joined Tumblr so saw this there first.

Was there anyone with a drilled torso JID girl restrung who was able to take photos for me?

    45. Most of my JID girls have had their torsos drilled, but most are strung too tight to be able to take a photo of their insides. I do have to do some costume switching soon, so can check if anyone's elastic has gotten a little looser.

    46. Thanks! I'm a bit nervous about doing it, I feel better if I have a reference.

    47. speaking of drilling.... do the boys need to be drilled? or are they strung properly???

    48. The guys are strung properly.

    49. @vermont chick No, I hadn't thought of that either. I simply want pretty heels for my JID girl D: She is way to hard to get decent footwear.

I thought the boys also had that weird stringing! So no legs hunging loose for them, then?

    50. okay trying to add to an order so not much time to 'hunt' info... Can JID boys wear any Dollmore shoes? I'm looking for either black dress trypes or boots that would work with the steampunk set and Ashed set. from iplehouse... what i want are the riding type boots but they have been 'removed' from the iple site >< so mad... but ya

    51. Having traded her big white gown to Leona, my Kassia is enjoying her newfound freedom....

    52. @MB Lilac I loved that series with her reading and enjoying freedom and alone time! It was cute and so well done!

    53. Hey, guys. I've fallen hard for Daniel and am considering buying him next month. I was wondering if someone could tell me what the posing and stability are like for the model body, and where I could buy clothes that fit? Thanks!

    54. @Selenae - Hello! I have a Daniel on the model body. He's without a doubt one of the best posers in my entire crew (the only exception is I find his elbows a little tricky). Otherwise he stands like a rock, and sits very naturally too.

    55. I agree. The Model body is definitely the better choice. My guy poses well too, but his elbows were rather kicky until I wired his arms.

    56. omg eeeee i can't wait for Edwin to get here! I so have to try this LOL

    57. @MB Lilac - That's probably something I should do while I'm modding his feet. Or at least figuring out how to mod the feet to fit him...

@Lady Tiku - Hehehe yes! Do give it a go! I've not tried to get him to stand like this with clothes on, I was in the middle of sewing his outfit when I decided to test out his posing abilities.

    58. I also have Daniel on the model body and just love him dearly!

As for clothes, I don't really know where to suggest as I make all his clothes.

    59. Hello new JID thread! I come to you from far in the past. No, seriously, really far. I haven't done doll stuff much for like 3 or 4 years now, so I haven't been really on here, but a friend of mine recently bought her first doll and I was providing old resources. Then I got sucked into reading threads and now I'm wondering where my half-face mask and MSC are so I can redo faceups. ...Guess who hasn't finished his Isar's pants yet even though the pants were literally planned when I bought her in 2012?
If anyone from many threads ago is here and remembers me, how are you doing? Most of you probably don't, but I am excited to get to know you. Gonna read this thread from the beginning if I can manage it.
