[Adopted] Immortality of Soul: Discussion Part II!

It's pretty much permanent, but you never know when IOS may change their mind, like with Blood. He'll be re-released in December, but I think that's a rarity.

Well, my Jaguar arrived today, just as I was heading out the door, so no pictures. I whipped him out of the box as fast as I could, popped some eyes in and a wig on, stood him on the shelf and then ran out the door. I've been like an hour behind, all day because of it!

He's wearing some pants now (yes, he stood on the shelf, totally nekkid with that wicked smile, and waving - good thing we didn't get robbed today, they would have gotten more than they bargained for!), that I got for my mecha angel - they're maybe an inch too long, and just a little too big around the waist.
His feet are tiny! He's wearing some SD13 sized boots! THAT threw me for a loop! I thought he'd have to wear bigger shoes.
Anyway, after a very busy day, I'm finally home now, and ... it's dark. SO I'll try for photos tomorrow. No faceup of course, and totally the wrong wig, but hey, I discovered I had his eyes waiting here just for him, for the past two years!
His lower torso joint, where it meets the hip piece... is very... mobile. Gets a bit frustrating when I'm trying to straighten out his legs for standing, and his torso decides I want him to sit. And the fish-gill syndrome of the upper torso (it hangs out over the lower torso just enough to make the sides look like gills). Oh, and the resin doesn't quiiiite match. The body has just a touch of pink that the head lacks. Could be just mine though, or indoor lighting. I've yet to get him outdoors or see him in good light.
And the neck seems a little long...
But! He's beautiful!
And I totally love the wackedout smile! He's so wicked! I love it!

My boyfriend nearly disowned me when I decided not to order him a Jaguar. So since they are starting to arrive home, i thought I'd haunt this thread a bit to see some more pictures ^_^

 

Yup, default IOS body that came with him. And yup, definitely looks like the neck is a little long to me too.

Rou: paint him up and then bask in his creepiness, of course!

skye - your bf didn't figure out how to order one himself? Keep a sharp eye on the marketplace, is all I can say. You just never know what you'll find.

 

Here's my Macavity!



That's his real wig, and temporary eyes, though his real eyes will still be green, just a brighter/more yellow-green. He won't have a faceup for a little while, I'm having a friend do it, but Macavity is a ginger. He'll be covered in freckles. I love the pale pinkish white that he turned out - it's just right for my evil little ginger cat.

His head and body are a perfect color match, I don't know what happened with your Jaguar, aernath. But I agree about the neck size. His neck is huuuuuge. No movement problems, but his head is definitely just kinda perched up there. Having a wig helps, cause it sort of visually smooths out the transition. I'm glad Macavity has shaggy hair. And his eye wells are really small. Those eyes he has in now are 14mm glib acrylics, and they don't sit right, they gap a bit cause they aren't really all the way in. I might have to buy him 12s, which sucks cause he already has two pairs of glass 14s in the mail on their way here.

His body sculpt is gorgeous though. I can't stop staring at his hands! They're so detailed and his fingers are long and graceful and have really nice nails. He feels really solid, poses well, and his joints all lock nicely, except his lower torso which pops a bit. He stands great, even while leaning a bit in the torso.

Overall I'm super happy. He is a gorgeous hunk of resin. I can't wait until I have him faceup'd/blushed.

 

cowpewter congrats! I know that when I used to have a MNM head, the suggested eye size was 14mm, but For me the Irises always looked too big. I suggest getting 13mm eyeco soft glass eyes - the iris are much smaller, but the white is still the same and since its a little flexible, there is no gapping.

 

Just got my head today! The box was scary - It had a hole I could get all my fingers in to ._. I have him on one of my DragonDoll uncle bodies... >_>;;; I do NOT recommend it as a match. AT ALL. Lol and the proportions make his head look tiny.

 

Other than the proportions, how is the resin match? Too far off? just curious!

 

The 60cm bodies have the same kind of neck. It doesn't show from many angles, and having a wig on can help a lot...

I'll load up a pic this weekend (yay for working until its dark :p ), but the match is pretty awful >w< The IOS WS is sooo pink compared to dragondoll, which is quite yellow/ivory/creamy. The proportion is better the more I get used to it, I think it just shocked me at first b/c my dragondolls' heads are big lol

 

Got my Jaguar head Wednesday!

I love love love his most awesome grin~ even more than I expected.

Eyes are a bit of an issue for me: the way his eye wells and eyelids are sculpted, most pupil shapes and sizes give him a far away / gone in thought / daydreaming look that doesn't really match his smile. Fortunately, slit pupils are perfect : since they are long, they don't hide under his upper eyelids, so he can keep the keen, intense expression I love.

I already had a Pink White 72cm Angelsdoll body waiting for him and the match is absolutely wonderful! Color-wise, it's incredible: there's no visible difference. The head's texture is definitely grittier than the body's, but in my opinion, as the body isn't shiny, the difference isn't noticeable to the eye. When it comes to proportions, I'm very happy as well: the neck is undoubtedly long, but not too much as far as I'm concerned. The sculpting style of both sections also seems to merge perfectly.

If anyone is curious, I could take pictures during the week-end...

 

lol yeah, as I was saying before, I usually don't like dolls with teeth. I loved him on the site and in person I started laughing like crazy when I opened the little box and there he was grinning up at me. Even if it was probably due to him thinking like tearing me to pieces, but hey, whatever works right? XD

Not perfect, and I'm unsure of how to do his teeth. Decided to leave as is before I ruined it.

I love his body so much. I can't believe he stood like this, rock solid, no fussing, no fidgeting bits for 20 minutes to try to get him to balance, just...he poses.



And the front view, showing that even his hips are tilted.

I'm going to sand his seams this weekend, and hopefully he'll get a faceup! Weather is supposed to be nice.

 

A totally n00b question: Did any 70cm body NS batch match Luts? I'm quite confused about IOS colours to be honest -.-'

 

Tsukasa: Thank you! You are real help. I just wasn't sure about the batches, because I had no idea when exactly IOS changed their colour. And I kind of dream about getting their 70cm body, because I prefer it over SSDF (yeah, it's kind of long run, I guess).

 

Speaking of resin colors, I FINALLY managed to get a couple comparison shots of my different WS dolls and my Jaguar head on a WS DragonDoll body. I like the proportion but the color is pretty bad:


This is pretty accurate to real life. I'm putting a comparison of IOS WS, DragonDoll WS, and DollFactory WS (which is paper white) in the IOS resin match thread for anyone who wants to see that too.

 

Haha! I just love seeing that head! I need to get mine faceupped. Was too busy playing with other dolls this weekend... plus he still needs a wig...

Was just checking IOS to see if it's about time for the Chaos heads to ship, and lo and behold: NEW HEAD!

Looking a bit like yet another Bleach character to me.
And yay! Blood is still on for sale in December, along with Lulu, Lora, and Jack.

Edit: shipping of Chaos heads: 1 - 10 November. Got a couple more weeks yet.

Ah Ulquiorra as the new Bleach-inspired head...I hope it's only a matter of time before IOS makes an Ichigo one XD
...but then again, hopefully maybe not as that would make me buy an Ichigo head for each of his forms, and from the many transformations he's had, that wouldn't be good for my wallet T__T

 

I just spotted the new head that will be up for offer next month! Yoowwie! I think all my boys are going to be IOS at this rate. :3 I noticed it does say "Head + Body' and 'Head' SALE!" I think I am about to be under all kinds of temptations. I wonder what the scale of the November model will be as I don't see mention of it.

Plus Blood now says "limited offer", so I wonder what is really getting released. Dang, now I'm on pins and needles as I thought I had my game plan all figured out for the rest of the years doll releases.

 

Yeah... That pic of the new head already makes it pretty tempting... and perfect for one of my characters! I started stalking the IOS site again... ^_^;

I finally got my guy done up and got a photo at a meet yesterday.
He has those black glass eyes with grey irises, so they only show up well in person.

 

Is anyone else in agony with me on waiting for IOS to finally announce details about their November items? I'm like, *refresh refresh refresh* on the site everyday now. Waaaah, the suspense! XD

 

Did you look in " Diary"? She's taking care of a tiny little kitten and that may be why she is behind schedule..it's super cute and itty bitty!

 

Fishcake - I have and I feel for the poor kitty! I wouldn't want to leave it alone for a second. I guess I'm just really excited because I love her work. It's worth waiting for, just trying to figure out my Winter doll schedule.

 

derilan - Thanks! psammead is right, it's a Daisy Dayes blue flying monkey. I've punked him out and now call him Punky Monkey. lol He's got an earring in his left ear too, but you can't see it in this shot.

fishcake - Hopefully kitty will give us all time to save! Must go look at itty bitty kitty! (got used to the blog being down) I was just wanting a Blood, but now that I've had a good look at Jack, I really want him too.

 

Hopefully poor itty bitty kitty is doing well (I've always been a sucker for looking after strays and injured wildlife myself).

As for waiting for pics of the new November IOS release, I'd been wondering if we might be seeing another mid-month release, much like with Jaguar & Chaos.

 

Yea, more details about the upcoming Nov/Dec sale items now posted! Looks like Nov's boy is going to be a 70cm. I can't wait to see the finished photo's of him, I'm sort of on the fence right now about him. Thinking hard so I'll be ready for Nov 10th, more detail day! :3 Anyone already know for positive they want him?

 

Just saw that too, MacaronTea...so 10th for more photos and 15th - 19th for release.

 

I really like the new Nov sculpt but I don't really have a character lined up for it...and plus I think I would rather just get the re-release of Blood in Dec.

I am currently waiting on my Chaos head and I would be thrilled to have my two favorite IOS sculpts in my possession.

 

Anyone waiting on Chaos orders, just checked the order board this morning and I have a shipping notice.
Hence, anyone waiting for Chaos heads or head + body sets, it's worth having a look.

 

I really love Mezz and Sezz and wish to own them someday. Sadly I was late..just discovered IOS last month and found out they were sold out. I posted a question asking if they will ever be released again and they said: "We have plans for selling 'Mezz and Sezz' again in 2012!!! "
Hurray! That will give me plenty of time to save up.

I'm, also with MacaronTea ...If IOS re-released Osiris I'd be really intersted. However, when it comes to more character mods / customisations I'll have to see how I go this time. If I get a taste for it then I won't be surprised if I do more in the future.

 

Pics for Nov guy "Shadow" are starting to show up around the site. You can see a nice one on the diary right now. I'm a little puzzled over his expression...I can't tell if he's tense, upset or concerned. ^_^;

After seeing further photo's of Shadow which are now posted, I am relieved to say I will be passing and holding out for Blood next month. He is nice, but his heavy brow just doesn't work for my crew.

 

I don't blame you for holding out for Blood next month, I just want to see if they do another Bleach Captain next and no more bad guys from the series.

 

I'm kinda torn. I really like Shadow and I want to get his head, but I'm also wanting to see what other Bleach characters IOS will do, and at this point in the hobby I'm really trying to limit my doll buying. If I get him and then IOS releases an Ichigo...hngh I'll be in trouble because there goes my resolution to only have a certain number of dolls

 

Satyrsmoon - Well you could always get just heads and limit the number of bodies you have. Then switch the heads out when you want that character. ^_^

 

MacaronTea is wearing cute little devil horns when she says that..it sounds so logical and efficient, and then the darned heads start grumbling about sharing, and before you know it everyone has a body and wants relatives to come stay, too. That was how I ended up with way too many people. None of which I want to sell now.

 

fishcake- Now that is a very scary thought, but very true too. I have Sezz and he is looking at me funny when I showed him Chaos today. I think Chaos knows he is getting that body as soon as I paint him and my poor Sezz will be headless for a while

I've tried this theory myself, but in the quest to upgrade bodies I've ended up with bodies for all and not selling the old ones. I am planning on testing this theory again though sometime next year. We'll see how it goes. Heh

 

I got my Chaos head in today, and I wasn't sure what I was going to do with him. He was a bit of an impulse buy at the last second. I just didn't want to miss out on him and then do the marketplace scramble later on.
He's currently on my Jaguar's body.... still. Jaguar's head (Jet) is threatening to gnaw through an ankle if he doesn't get his body back soon. lol

 

I really fell in love with Blood.
But I'm such a BJD newbie and I truly wonder if I already have enough experience to turn him into an awesome character.
My other dolls all had wigs, eyes and faceup included when I ordered, so I'll be needing to work hard for this doll. But i'm so willing to do that! But I'll be spending a LOT on this doll. ( so worth it though )

It's just... his face... I really can't say no to that.

 

MacaronTea That is kind of what I am afraid of Put up "S" spam when you get him on a body!

And Ryuutje when you see Blood in person you will be so happy you have him--they are incredible to see in real life, very much "artist's dolls."
If it helps, I don't paint faces very well, but I found the IoS sculpts are so nice you just have to sort of tint them and they look really good. And I found a wig that covers my G's eyebrows

 

Fishcake - Oh I most happily will! I'm working on building his living space very slowly right now, but hope to have it finished when his body arrives. Which I guess would be in February sometime since he is getting Bloods body? Which is also when the DZ body is paid off...so yeah. So much for getting his in-between body here earlier. maybe he will forgive me eventually.

 

Aizen I hope she will do Kenpachi and Nnoitra too *o*
But I won't use them to portray bleach characters. I just bought SHADOW, even if I don't like Ulquiorra at all. xp
These sculpts carry a lot of personnality that I can't find in other companies.

 

For those with the 63cm body, have you found that pants in SD or SD13 size fit better? I'm a little concerned about making sure the legs are long enough and don't end up too short. I've found a wonderful Dollheart SD13 outfit, but don't want to splurge on it if in the end I'll be nothing but disappointed.

 

My guy has been wearing just regular Delf pants, but he also wears boots so the shortness of trousers wasn't an issue (he's the 63cm version) I've had more trouble with how slim he is--some of the pants I have are a little big in the waist, so I just did a tiny tuck here and there. (I have the older, heavier Luts boy bodies). I'm sorry everything is packed right now, or I would pull out my tape measure and do his inseam for you! (He's actually sitting in Chicago watching TV with my husband, so that makes it even harder).

Totally agree with you! These faces really appeal to me, both because they are so expressive and because their sharp, more elongated features are common among my characters but so hard to find in the BJD world.

LuckyXIII: I think he'd look good with a more natural skin tone! His teeth would shine more and he'd be closer to Grimmjow. Maybe the color of his wig could be a bit brighter too... Spite & Malice on the marketplace has a cyan that could work, if you like.
