Oh no, that sounds rather unpleasant for you. What a strange attitude to take. I've had people refer to them as barbies in a derogatory way, but not baby dolls. I hope that eventually, he takes a leaf out of your mum's book and starts to appreciate them, and realise it's nicer to share someone's enjoyment of a hobby than just to disapprove.

 

SmoteyMote and MadWild I'm sorry you're having problems with your parents. It really angers me when people treat their adult children that disrespectful. Just because they are your parents doesn't mean they have the right to judge.

I would never ever judge my son like that - not even if I didn't understand something he was interrested in. Back when he played World of Warcraft he used to tell me a lot about things that had happened in the game. I was interrested in listening to him even though I didn't care about WoW because I cared about HIM. (BTW I'm ooooold - and he's 35 now.)

You know I think some people are just not worthy of being shown our dolls or being told about them.

One of my friends met this guy about 6 years ago. They are now married. When I told him about my dolls he said: "I understand. It's just like I like to collect model trains." He didn't care about the dolls but he understood my feelings and was very nice about it. Most of my friends are like that. Even if they don't care about the dolls at all they care about how I feel.

I had the same problems as you did with my magnets. I used a bit of eye puddy and smooshed the magnets into the jokes with a small amount. They have staid put with no problems

So, my totally impulse buy mint Pano arrived today and I am smitten to say the least. She is definitely more of an imp than a pastel princess She just has this mischievous smile that tugs at my heart. I'm gonna have to re-think her faceup... Anyhoo, I'm thinking of calling her Juniper - she reminds me of the berries my sister and I used to throw at each other when we were younger and I love when names have a special memory/meaning. Soooo, here she is!

I'm loving everyone's pictures of their beautiful realfees! I ordered mine the first day of the event from dde but still no notification of them coming in =(

Guess I just have to enjoy everyone else's =P

 

I'm with you - sort of - still waiting for my FS and I ordered the first day as well. I got impatient though and when I saw this cutie up for adoption, I couldn't stop myself I shortened her dress already and she has a wig cap drying on her head as I type!

 

Just love to see what everyone is doing with their Realfee's.

I ordered mine on the first day of the even too and finally received a shipping notice today. Not a very good timing since I will be giving birth Monday!

My order coincided with a small GO I ran, and contains multiple Realfees and two other dolls, so I think that's why my order took a bit longer.

 

What a treasure trove, Fenris! I wanna come live at your place!

It can be hard for parents to get over trying to "raise" their kids. It's easier for folks your own age, they don't feel responsible for educating you. My DH doesn't always understand why I like a particular doll, but he sees that they make me happy, and he approves of things that make me happy. It helped, I'm sure, that I didn't start collecting dolls until we'd been together for years, so he trusted me to know my own mind & not get over-invested in anything too crazy. (He does like my RealFees -- we've both been sf/fantasy fans since we were kids in the 1960s, so he completely understands the allure.) Take heart that your fiance understands, and give your parents time to adjust...

This morning I decided to pay off my Pano's 4th layaway at DDE a few weeks early. 2 hours later, I got a shipping notice! When I checked with DDE, my Pano had just arrived! :O

Thinking it couldn't happen twice, I had them check if my May had also arrived. Not yet.

Now, back to deciding on their names again.

DANG IT - still haven't gotten mine

 

I'm in the same boat. ;~; I ordered the first day, and even got up extra super early to order (5am CST!). I ordered some extra parts for my Littlefees though, so I probably have to wait even longer. Plus I still have one more layaway payment.

 

I'm still at a loss for name D= I'm hoping as I start doing wig and faceup, something will stick. The half a dozen or so options I've floated for the last 3 months haven't had that "oh yes!" moment. Name choices have always been agony for me. Takes me days to roll a character on an MMO

 

Well my fullset Tan May arrived from Fairyland, Wasn't hit with any bit of love for her yet, but ill try some things out on her first to see xD

i did a comparison photo of my realfees with all of the other tiny sized dolls i have. (only tiny i have that isn't represented is my daisydayes centaur, but she's dainty compared to any others.) hopefully this helps those without their dolls yet to get a sense of scale!

 

That's really helpful thank you! I had no idea there was such a size difference between the normal & fantasy legs!

Anyone here with the fullest May disappointed that you can't use the underwear on the bunny legs? I noticed the Pan's had 2 different sized shorts. It's a shame that they didn't do the same for May. She seems a bit rude to me

 

O my, I knew the fantasy legs would be fatter, but did not realise they will make the doll so much bigger!

 

I wish everyone could have that attitude. That's how I approach other people's hobbies, I'd love it if everyone were the same.

What a good point, you're completely right. I am glad that my fiancé understands, especially as we'll be sharing our home soon and he'll have to deal with all my stuff being around!

I thought that too, it would be nice. Especially as the front of her skirt has that split so it's sort of a view straight through!

 

I also ordered my Pano the first morning, a fullset with no fantasy legs, faceup only on the OE face. I too had one more layaway payment, although I paid that yesterday, a few hours before they shipped my Pano. There doesn't seem to be a logic to how they sent them this last few weeks.

 

that's a huge difference between the fantasy legged doll and the regular! looks like i'll have to keep at least one doll one each set of legs to fill in my height differences between littlefees and pukifees. i wonder how the realfees with fantasy legs compare to the littlefee babies?

 

Juniper is done!!! Soon as I got her, I realized this girl did not want to be a pretty-princess. She has some spunk. She not only refused the teeswater wig I made her, insisting to go bald instead, she made me ignore my faceup concept. She wanted to go a little darker, a little more 'alien'. So, here she is

[MENTION=45718]Ban Sidhe[/MENTION] she turned out amazing! I love the feathered shading on her ear. Does she have a bit of fang added or is that just a speck on my screen? She does have a bit of spark for sure!

Did my first attempt at a wig last night. The colors are spot on and the basic lol is right, but I need to alter my wefting method. Lost too much fiber when brushing out.

 

I'm not used to that, most of my dolls are shelled characters and they either work the way I planned them or they go bye bye. But I enjoy letting the fantasy ones (Realpukis and Realfees) tell me who they are

LOL - that's just a bit of light reflecting off the gloss but she would look cute with fangs... might look into that And thanks, I'm thrilled you like her

 

Oh my GOSH I love her so much! Your faceup style is PERFECT for this sculpt. I wish I'd seen your girl in the mint resin before the ordering period, I would have ordered that skintone, too.

 

Yeah, I think that's why the legs work so well with the larger LittleFee heads -- the visual weight of the two parts "balances".

Speaking of which -- LittleFee hands fit nicely on the RealFee wrist knobs, if you want your RLFs to have more gestural expressiveness!

Juniper is looking very nice. I think Pano's head is so prettily rounded like Pkf/Ltf that she pulls off the bald look very nicely.


Fenris: thanks for those comparison photos. I wish the Realfee legs carried the height off the anthro ones because I love how tall they are with them. I won't be using my anthro legs so I'm going to miss those extra inches.

YES YES YES!!! I wouldn't have looked if you hadn't said anything!!! Just paid and I'm soooo excited. You are gonna love your doll - seriously, I had a feeling I would but after getting the Pano, I am totally in love with these dolls

 

Just wanted to share a picture of my May, now that I actually have one to share. She's in her fullset outfit, minus the red dangly thing (does that have a proper name?) and on her human legs, not that you can see in the photo! But you can see just how big her hair is, I've now managed to tame it a little by putting half in the hood, but it took some wrestling. I need to take more photos with her bunny legs!



Ban Sidhe, your girl is a stunner! What beautiful work you've done on her face up.

Siiigh... You guys got me excited, but no shipping notice from DDE for me. I ordered a fullset may, normal skin and white bunny parts on the first day. Doh! Maybe next week...

 

Oh no, you and I both - JUST got my notice from DDE today, was not expecting it. I'm sure you'll get yours in the next batch. The truth is, if everyone wasn't getting theirs in, I wouldn't even be thinking of my order this soon. I was hoping for mid to end September, so this is a treat I think FL really did the right thing this time!

 

Not to get you all excited again, Botflybaby, but I got my DDE notification on a Saturday... and my RealFees arrived the following Monday. Keep hope alive!

 

Well, I just paid off my invoice for my Pano! He'll be on his way home soon.

 

lol! welp, maybe I'll get one tomorrow! but i guess i'm okay with waiting, really. my plans are a bit up in the air, as i had originally planned to use the pupu realfee plate, but seeing how it actually looks i'm not a fan as its pretty different from the realpuki and pukifee version. i would use the pukifee version, but i'm not entirely sure how i feel about the size of the head on the body. i do like may, she's really cute, so maybe she will grow on me and i'll be happy with her. otherwise she might just be a place holder until fairyland comes out with a realfee face i really like, but who knows when that will be! i do like pano but i don't think the head suits the bunny or human legs, personally. i just want the faces in hand so i can paint them and make my final decisions. bah!

 

May is here! As I suspected, Soso will be getting this body, but the tan with white bunny parts is adorable. I actually like most of the fullset, shockingly. My wig is okay but pretty tight. It's odd not to have the magnets in the faceplate already.

Great photo, MadWild! I think the proper fashion term for May's red accessory is "an apron" -- if she were a Scotsman, it'd be a sporran. (And those who know kilts, or who wear skirts themselves, know *why* Scotsmen weight down the front of their garments.)

My Pano came with a wig almost as big as her whole (human form) body, too. I've had problems in the past with Fairyland mohair wigs that were too sparse... they may have decided it would be easier to let every buyer cut their wig to their own specifications, than to listen to all of us crab about not! enough! fiber!

 

My Pano has arrived at DDE and I have found a trade : one of my Pano head for a May... squeeee!

 

I just got my shipping notice! I'm quite surprised as I asked DDE to send both my orders together. My 2nd order was placed during the last week of the event so I didn't think I'd be seeing it for awhile

i don't want to bother them again as i emailed them about it on the 7th. i don't want to seem pushy, lol. it's just odd as i didn't order anything extra, just the fullset with the event heads.

 

I understand that, I just emailed them last week and if I didn't get my notice yesterday I would have held off. They honestly don't know what's coming when. They knew I ordered on the first day and that others who'd ordered after me were arriving first. They said they were hoping I was in the next batch. It's all on FL how they completes DDE's orders. *shrug*

Question (and if this was asked before, I apologize)- are Realfees a pain to restring? My Pano came to me so tight that I actually had to take his head all the way off just so I could swap out his legs. Try as I might, the O-ring just wouldn't go down far enough to sit in the little lip. I'd like to get some pictures of him with his human legs soon, but I hate the idea of popping his head off whenever I change his legs. :/

Thank you! And thank you also for clarifying about the red apron. I find it's a bit of a funny little addition to her outfit and I was just getting tangled in it so thought it's better left off. Plus that way, I can see all the layers of her cute little skirt!
