[Adopted] Dollstown 17 and 18 year boys and girls

@BlitheFool Yes I noticed the second link only after posting my reply ^^" It's quite helpful and the proportions look good to me! Very similar to the original Zenith proportions (the neck might even be slimmer, which I think is better.) This might be the realistic look I'm going for. Oh, if Fresh is actually more yellow than Oriental then I should definitely go for Oriental é_è It wont be a perfect match but a skilled faceup artist could definitely fix it (not me ^^")

 

Just in case you still have any doubts that the 17 body is the better match... just for the sake of hilarity.... here is the Souldoll Agnetha head on my DT18 body, oops!!! So not a good look
I had forgotten I even had Agnetha as Argodoll If it always has the zenith body. I left Kana in the shot so that @earth.spirits can see the Honey Peach resin next to pale skin with the flash. Hope this helps

Thanks, vonbonbon, for another comparison pic of the resin types / colors, most helpful. : ) Your girls are lovely! Hmm, and that's interesting, to see just how small a Souldoll head looks on the tall DT18 body. I used to have a Souldoll Hye, and while she was a charming girl, her head sculpt was indeed very small.

Dayme - if you want an idea of the color of fresh, check out photos of my DT Kana, who is fresh (there's a pic of her "upstream" in this thread). In photos, and in person, fresh is a very pale, delicate color, so you'd want to keep that in mind for any potential color matching. I suspect a fresh color body would not work very well with a more robust "normal skin" tone head.

 

The DT18 is quite hefty, I hybrided a SD+ male head on mine (as a girl, because I like girls with strong features)

 

@earth.spirits I saw your beatiful Kana! Fresh skin seems to be quite pale, more like Souldoll white skin with a good blushing. If I follow through with this hybrid, I'll definitey go for an oriental skin D17. The problem with matching Souldoll NS to any DollShe resin is the intense pink undertone that Souldoll has, which isn't present in any of the DollShe resins

@Girrl I actually love the D18 and its proportions somewhat more than the D17, if it wasn't for the huge feet it comes with! That's what's pushing me towards the 17, and also that lovely hip joint

Since I went and mentioned Nemesis (my DT18 hybrid) I may as well spam her and her absolutely lovely clavicles!

 

Not taken many photos of Pandora, my DT18 Amy but it is too hot today to do much else, I intended that she would be dressed all in black but she somehow seems to have become a pink girl instead complete with her own Cath Kidston bag.

 

@avrilpaeony : cute, it's funny how they always go their own way, no matter how you initially saw them ...and yes, d*mn hot, even in WALES!!!

 

@Girrl Those clavicles truly are amazing, I love it! I'm very curious about Nemesis' faceup after having a glimpse of her like that.

@avrilpaeony Pandora is adorable! I love all her accessories especially the earrings; are those actually pierced through the ears or a "clip-on" type? :O I'm thinking of putting on earrings on one of my dolls but any mods are completely terrifying to me é_è

 

Yes her ears are pierced by me, I have done most of my dolls, I do have an electric dremel type drill which is good but if you don't make a tiny pilot hole first it can slip. I now use an archimedes drill, available on ebay for around £5.00 you just push it down to make the drill bit turn and it works very quickly and easily without slipping.

She's a counter-part to my other elven guardian, Verity. Nemesis' markings are inspired by the blue woad war paint and tattoos of the Celts (designed and painted by the ultra talented Vitta-Vera) Now I just need to get Forté her body (and faceup) so I can get shots of the 3 of them together...

 

Question for any of you out there with the 17 boy body....anyone find any other hands that would work for it? I did some head swapping last night and the current owner of the body needs some fists. I was thinking Iplehouse SID (none of which will be a color match unfortunately), but if there are any others out there that might be a good size that I'm missing, I'd love to know.

What I have that I know will not work: Ringdoll (too small), Luts SDF (too small), Iplehouse EID (about the size of his head).

I use Doll Legend jointed hands on my 17yrs boy body (1/3rd scale) but the original hands are in between 1/3rd and 70cm hands for Doll Legend. My body has new smaller feet too, so I think it works (1/3 or 60cm hands v. 70cm).

I also received the email--I plan to mod them to add an extra joint to twist the ankle.

 

Is this in regards to the 17 boy body? This is the first I've heard of any issues with their legs. I own a 17 boy (purchased on the secondary market), and have not noticed any problems with his legs (my guy poses and stands fine). What is the issue the email discusses, etc.? Thanks for assistance with this question.

 

A few weeks ago I took my 17 boy body apart to restring him and noticed that the calves were very thin around the knee. Like, see-through, gonna break any minute, thin. I was worried enough that I have been trying to figure out the best way to fix them and they haven't even broken yet (that I know of). Contacting DT didn't occur to me since I ordered the day the body was released and that was nearly a year ago and I thought it would be too late to do anything.

Over the weekend I got an email from Dollstown stating they've been informed of the issue and have already sent me new legs. So someone must have said something to them about it, and it wasn't just my guy.

It's not a posing issue at all (though mine wouldn't even stand....turns out he was just too loose lol once I tightened him he was fine.), but there may be a risk of that thinner area breaking.

You may want to pull him apart, even if its by the knee, and check. And if he's unusually thin there, maybe contact the seller and see if they have heard from DT....

I've noticed no issues for my body either, but with my tendency to mod, I won't turn down free elastic and resin.

I modified it to be more thicker.

I purchased my DT Yoon from a friend, and have just contacted her regarding this (she may have also received an email / update
from DT about this issue).

 

That is so very cool that DT is doing that. Improving their design to the extent they send out parts for free.
I keep wanting the 17 yrs girl body, but what head? Then I get distracted by ......'squirrel!'.......another doll.

But yeah, it's pretty awesome. Especially since I was actually afraid for the integrity of my dolls legs lol. I mean, how many companies notice a flaw in their product and take it upon themselves to make up for it?? Dollstown is A++ IMO.

 

@Feliz: Have a look on the Dollstown website, the page they sell each body from has all the measurements. It will tell you the foot length there

 

My free calf parts for the Dollstown 17yrs boy body have already shipped! Whew, that was fast!

I figured people on the thread might want to know how quickly the parts ship out (with how slow Dollshe is, although I must say I've never noticed them being as slow for Dollstown in the past).

Is anyone else following the progress of Dollstown's new Byula head? I've been fond of it since the clay work, and awaiting the faceup photos and release any day now...

I've been following the Byula head too! I'm eager to see the face up they are working on. But really I think it is such a beautiful sculpt even without any face up. I had emailed Dollstown asking when it would be released I liked it so much. Back in June they said it would be released in July. I also have a question, does anyone know if the Dollstown heads like Kana will fit the Dollshe 65 cm female body? I am wondering about body sharing because I will have my first Dollshe coming. Thanks!

 

I've been anxiously awaiting Byula since her initial photos - she's an exquisite sculpt. It's interesting that she is a limited head, set at only 100.

I took the plunge right away, and have ordered my girl, and am really looking forward to her arrival (possibly early October?).

Anyone else getting Byula?

 

I'm not a regular in here, but I just ordered Byula on the 18 body this evening. . I have two 13 girls, two 15 boys, and a 7 girl, so Byula -- her name will be Fiona -- will be a new experience. I need to look back through the discussion to see what clothes and shoes are likely to fit her. I have a Dollmore Model, SID, and EID, so I'm hoping Fee can share at least some of the clothes I already have.

I think you will love the 18 girl body. I have Kestrel, an 18 yr girl Soi, and she's a pleasure to pose and photograph. Absolutely love her. She can wear some 70cm guy size boots, and has some lovely handmade clothing that was kindly created for her by my talented friend @Robyn_in_WA.

The rest of my DT clan includes Isobel (17 girl) and my Yoon 17 guy.

 

Hi, I have a question, will the Dollstown Kana head or other DT heads fit on the Dollshe female 65cm bodies without modifications? The neck on the Dollshe body looks like it might be kind of big from the company info...Thanks for any help..

 

@Cherylsdolls - I've seen photos of the Amanda head on the DT17 body, so logically a similar size neck hole would fit from DT to Dollshe.

Oh dang, I had no idea the Byula heads were limited. I don't have the savings for it now!

 

I would like to introduce my new gal - Sakura - a Byula head on Dollstown 17 body.
She's in oriental resin (I got lucky with an in-stock head!). I did the face "paint" myself,
pierced her ears, and modded her hands a little (mainly thinner fingers).

Sakura is wearing 14mm Gumdrops in StormyBlue with a straightened Iplehouse wig
in saddle-brown. I just tied on some bits of panne' fabric while I was working on
her. She'll try on a Mori girl dress tomorrow!

 

@Robyn_in_WA Oh she's lovely! Her wig & eyes suit her perfectly; I like your Byula even more than the official DT photoshoot! Can't wait to see her in her summer dress~

 

@Robyn_in_WA - Congratulations, Robyn, on the arrival of your lovely Byula! ♥ Her face paint is charming, and I also like the colors of her wig and eyes. Sakura is a delightful and poetic name, and suits this girl perfectly.

Makes me excited about my own Byula, who's still on pre-order - Hopefully she'll arrive home in September or October (fingers crossed).

Your Byula is beautiful, and the rose pink Mori Girl dress and cream petticoat you created for her are too. LOVE this dress! The garnet necklace is the ideal (and pretty) accessory too.

 

Does anyone who has a 17 boy body also have an IP SID guy? Do you think the hands\feet would fit on the DT 17yr body?

I really need different hands for my guy, and I'd also like different feet. I don't have anything that works - he's using Ringdoll fists right now but it's not perfect, and RD feet won't work at all. I don't own an SID so I can't check myself, and I'm afraid to order a bunch of parts and have them not work.

If anyone can try the parts on or at least get them close ( since I know how DT does their stringing - another reason to trade parts) I'd appreciate it. Also, other parts suggestions are welcome. I would prefer the hands and feet to match just for the convenience of ordering from one place -- a good reason to use Iplehouse since I have other dolls from them who could use new parts....

Really, I'm in this hobby from 2011, bought first doll in 2012 and since then I;ve be in love with that body and finally! Finally there was a head that could sit on it ^____^

Congrats @Shao-ron. I like that body also, but have never bought one. I keep looking though.

If the body is "in stock", you should get it pretty quickly. In fact I don't think you can order out of stock things on that site, so wait shouldn't be an issue.

 

I ordered in "preorder" and you can do that. They say that waiting is 1-2 months but I pretty don`t believe that :p

 

Though Dollshe pours the dolls for DT, the wait should not be that bad. I know that Twigling's dolls were not the horrendous wait that the usual Dollshe doll was back in the day. And all of Twigling's girls were poured by Dollshe. (I have absolutely no clue what takes the "in house" dolls, meaning Dollshe's own dolls, so long to actually see the light of day.)

 

I ordered my Byula 18 in oriental skin on August 4 (Dollstown time), so the wait shouldn't be much longer! Then her head will need to go off for a faceup to turn her into the Fiona I have in mind, while I work behind the scenes on finding clothes to fit her long lanky body.

@Robyn_in_WA, your Byula is so lovely, especially in that rose-pink dress -- I hadn't checked in on this thread for far too long, so I'd missed her completely.

 

We will see. I know that the waiting for my Twigling head wasn't that bad so maybe...

Looks like Dollstown is having a sale on all "whole dolls" for the rest of the month. I was really not planning on getting anyone else for the rest of the year, but I had to make an exception to finally snatch up Remi; I told myself I miiiight get her around the end of the year if there was a sale, but since Dollstown decided to have a sale sooner, well.... Dollstown is also offering face ups and body blushing now, for anyone interested.

 

There's a picture of a new female body too on Flickr, with what looks like the ShinBi head on it. Very beautiful. I like the ShinBi head so much. I need a money tree....

 

@Cherylsdolls Let me know if you find a seed. The new body looks fantastic... I wonder if it'll be replacing the current 17yr old body, since it's apparently nearly the same height, or be another offering in its own right.

I also noticed that honeyskin doesn't seem to be an option on any of the dolls anymore.... For a moment, I wondered if this had to do with the sale, but it's true if you go in for just an individual head as well. Maybe it's because of how backed up Dollshe seems to be at the moment?

 

Does anyone have any comparison photos of the old 18yr body resin and the new? Please and Thank you.

I've never waited more than six weeks for a Dollstown preorder -- Dollshe must be seriously backed up. Still, what better time for a new doll to arrive than Christmas??

Congrats earth.spirits... I've heard of another person who waited from the Summer but she had a mixed order, so had to wait on it all to be cast before shipping.... I got my beautiful new Kana on the 17 body today. I paid the ransom demand to Parcelforce last week but she was due to get here on Friday and the snow meant she was delayed until today.... I LOVE the 17 body already... such a shame there is such a huge height difference between that and the 18 body. I had hoped they would look like Sisters, but they just look silly together.... this is my 3rd Kana (although I sold the other 2 over the summer) and now have 1 fresh skin whole doll... will take pics as soon as she gets a face

 

@vonbonbon I can't wait to see pictures I'm always going back and forth on getting Kana myself, but she is a lovely sculpt.

I've been waiting a few months now on Hwan, and a month less on Remi, but I'm not expecting either of them to ship until next year. She may take a bit longer since I ordered her with a Dollstown faceup. Since the faceup offer is new, I don't know how long it will take them to do it.

 

My Yoon head is finally on its way. A bit over a month wait and the hands will be shipped later. Now my 17 year boy will be whole and I can get him faced up soon as well. Body work will have to wait until Spring. Slowly everyone will be home and done.

 

I'll be VERY interested in seeing what the Dollstown faceups look like these days -- I got one back in the old days (2005) with my Mui, so I'll have to dig up some ancient pictures for comparison!
