Does anyone want to see a Stacy in tan skin? Arrived today!

Oh wow! The tattoos are lovely against the tan skin!

Since we've seen two Stacys in a row now, I was wondering... are they still coming with jointed feet? I ordered one during last year's Halloween event and I love the look of the individual toes. I was even planning on making special sandals for them. I'm going to be pretty disappointed if they don't make jointed toes anymore...

Hi, yes body Y-03 which is the one in my picture is the default body for Stacy and comes with jointed toes (and the extra ankle joints that I find hard to pose...). But good question I was wondering the same when I saw Milenas beautiful photo too. Maybe it's a hybrid?

 

Thanks Zaliayn! I'm very very pleased with the tan skin. I admit she is my first tan doll so I can't say whether her kind of tan is better than other brands or not. What I can say is that her whole body looks so beautiful in that warm tone, not too orange, that my pink skin BJDs are all of a sudden looking really pasty. Maybe they need a holiday by the beach!

Yes, I haven't even clothed her yet. It's like she doesn't need any with skin that nice!

 

She's really beautiful! I need to get some pics of my grey Evangeline posted for you all! She's another one who doesn't need clothes because she's so stunning.

 

Please show us you grey Evangeline! If you could have her next to a white, pink or yellow skin for comparison that would be awesome. Does she have a face up yet?

 

No face-up yet. If I can finish the two heads on my desk this weekend (the weather is so perfect for the next two days!) I'll get started on these two. Here's a pic of her in her (white) helmet. None of the box opening pics I took were in very good lighting, but you can still see how the grey compares.

Thanks urbanizer. Love that sculpt, those lips, those dreamy eyes. And the gray skin certainly contrasts with the white but it's not too dark or cold. Great choice! Looking forward to pictures of your girl with her face-up sometime in future.

Hey everyone!

I got myself a DC head and now find that I really want another DC doll. However, I'm not sure I want to go bigger than a 60cm. Do you think the Evangeline head will look too big on the new Margarita body? I'm pretty sure Evangeline is 20cm vs Margarita's 18cm.

 

She's gorgeous in grey! I can't wait to see her face-up.

 

Thanks @CopeliaBJD, @IzabethS, @Zaliayn, and @Fawne! I thought the weather might hold out a bit longer so I could get heads sprayed and started, but winter returns. I'll certainly share my painted, wigged, and clothed girls as soon as I can.

@Lady_addiction, I didn't realize that there was a difference in the proportions of the bodies until you asked this question! I see no reason why the Evangeline head would look strange on the Margarita body. I think it's just more realistically proportioned. All the other DC bodies are very elongated (usually in the limbs and torsos), which is where the extra height comes from. The heads tend to be about the same size across the board in my experience.

 

@urbanizer, great to hear your opinion on the head! I am very very tempted by the current spring event and am almost ready to put a layaway order in for either an Evangeline-A, blank with a Hubery head, or get a Margarita with an Evangeline head via the coupon. I really love Margarita's body, but I'm so-so on the face for now; whereas I just seem to keep coming back to the Evangeline doll so I'm guessing I should purchase her first. I am intimidated at the size of the default Evangeline body though. Not sure how hard it would be to handle a 66cm body versus a 60cm body, which is the largest I have. I do tend to like the stylized versus realistic style but it's definitely a difficult choice! Oh, to win the lottery!

 

I recently noticed that the Youth boy bodies are no longer available on Alice's collections. I asked them about it and they answered that: "Doll Chateau currently does not offer any youth boy bodies." Does anyone know anything about that? I will be very sad to see that one go because I am completely in love with that body and I feel that their newer bodies have a completely different look to them that does not suit my purposes for their male bodies. I heard a rumor that they were updating the male youth body, but I had hoped that they would have informed us before they stopped making them.

 

They did stop producing the first adult and youth girl bodies without warning...
I really prefer their first bodies too...

 

I asked DC about the old style Youth bodies this year, and they confirmed that they are revamping them! Hopefully they will sell them again soon.

 

I hope that they will still have the same look to them instead of the wide shoulders and narrow waists of the new bodies. I really like the thin, "realistic" look of the old ones.

i was really planning on getting the y-03 for my jupiter next year, but i might hold out and see what the renewed y-01 looks like if that's true...!
i wonder if they'll re-release the old heads too, i would die to get my hands on another thera, gosh..!

i also like the thin, alien aesthetic of the old bodies a lot. the new ones are really beautiful and gorgeously detailed, but they don't have quite the same charm to me as the old ones. :P

 

I was really hoping to buy a Y-02 body, but it seems they are no longer available. I would have loved to get my hands on one of the A-02 bodies as well but they became unavailable a long time ago.

I wish DC would tell us about these things before they make these changes so that those of us who like the old bodies would have a chance to get them before they are discontinued. (T_T)

 

I'm assuming the new youth body will look more in line with their current style, which I'm personally happen about, since I've been waiting for them to update that body for a while. I need a pair of Snow Nymph twins and the old youth body just wouldn't work for what I have in mind.

 

I personally would love for them to bring back a body like the Y-01 .. I would love to be able to get a sister for my Agnes.... though I cannot decided if I would get her in grey or tan!

 

I mean there isn't much time, but I wonder if they still have the molds for the old body. They might buy the argument well I want to get that body in the last chance sale in the old resin last chance sale. It is a last chance sale after all. Never hurts to ask them. The old yellow and white resin sale ends April 28, so you could ask if they would allow a last chance sale for the body too.

if i had the cash i would totally spring for an old skin body right now, but unfortunately i have 2 layaways and a hold going on, with two more layaways looming soon...

 

Unfortunately, MoC is not an option for me because the shipping to Sweden is really expensive (last I checked it was about 100 dollars). I think I will have to keep an eye on the second-hand market if nothing else. Maybe the new youth body will really appeal to me *fingers crossed*

 

Maybe try Angelesque or Dollsquare ? They're both UK based and it seems they still have the Y-02 bodies listed.

Does anyone know if the Doll in Mind heads work with the Y-04 body?
After looking at the neck measurements it seems the DIM msd bodies necks are around the same size.
I just bought a y-04 body in yelow skin and I'm looking for a head for it.

 

The DIM MSD heads will look extremely pin headed on the Y-04 body. Mainly because the Y-04 has huge hips and very long arms. So even if the neck circumference is the same, it would just look off. Most people put the DIM MSD heads on the Kid bodies and they look great that way. You could look at DZ heads, or other smaller SD heads!

 

Oh thankyou for that! I ended up buying a minimee Milla Jovovich head, I wasn't planning it that way, but I was browsing the marketplace for a DIM head and found her. I love her, so I hope she works for my body. The y-04 neck is 7cm so I'm sure her head will fit ok, just hope it's not too big.

I did find a Bellosse dim head too might work as she's an SD head, but that totally makes sense about the msd sized DIm heads looking pin headed.

 

Does anyone here have the DC Evangeline? I have recently ordered her as my first BJD and love her styling in her promo pictures. I've gone for a blank doll as I want to have a go at customising her myself and was hoping to see what other people have done with theirs. I can't seem to find many owner pictures though; perhaps she's not a very popular sculpt.

 

I don't have a DC Evangeline...but now I wish I did, she is really stunning! Thanks for bringing her to my attention! I look forward to seeing yours when you have finished working on her.

 

She is lovely, isn't she? I hope you decide to get one as well at some stage; I just can't understand why I'm not seeing more of them around. I hope I'm able to do her justice when she arrives; I was so tempted to get fullset A, but the main reason I want to get into the hobby is to do my own face-ups/clothes etc.

 

Evangeline is an amazing sculpt and she looks stunning in the A Set photos. It's a shame that there aren't more of her around - there are a few photos on flickr and DoA but that seems to be it really. She's been on my wishlist since she was released although I still can't quite make up my mind about her, since I have something of a love/hate relationship with open-mouthed sculpts! Her lips are gorgeous though.


Does anyone use/know of any doll stands that are good for the youth girls? I've (finally!) started making some clothes especially for mine and it would be great to have something to hold her upright while I'm draping fabric on her and such, rather than having to hold her and do everything with one-hand. She does stand on her own, but I don't trust her to stay put when I'm messing about with her outfit...

 

I figure this may be the right place to ask. Does anyone know if a dollzone Merlin head would look super bobble-headed on a DC Youth-2 body? I'm looking for a body for my head that's coming in and I'm slowly falling for this body. I just worry that the neck is so much smaller I'd need to have someone mod it and it would still look bad

 

tbh it looks worse when the neck is too large, rather than too small. I've got a Soom Sweet Witch head on my youth body, and oh boy does the neck gap (Soom heads fit on bodies with 10cm necks) but with her wig it's not that noticeable so long as I mind the angles I photograph her from. You can kind of see the gapping in this picture, but it's not terrible

 

I'm thinking of getting a youth body 2 for my incoming grey skin Evangeline head. This is a new idea so probably change my mind . Does anybody think that'll work? The female bodies are way above my spending even before adding grey. I also have had a blank Hubrey on my wanty list for ages.

I have no useful suggestions, as I'm new to BJDs, but I look forward to seeing what you do with your Evangeline. I have one on order and have been struggling to find owner pics!

 

I can find Christina online on that body and i like the fit. I already have a Stacy on DZ adult body who i love. I only really wanted a male if i got another big doll. Grey male Evangeline? Maybe? Eh, thinking out load .

I do think that once I get the money I'm going to try the DC Youth 2 body with my DZ Merlin head. I just can't find another body that fits what I have in mind for the character as well. I'm just hoping I won't have to find someone to mod the neck to make it fit

I just received my Margarita and Evangeline head! Will post box opening thread by tonight, if not tomorrow. Currently they'll be sharing bodies but I'm seriously considering ordering Evangeline's default body and high heels but I wasn't sure how well that body works for posing. Plus I'll have to wait until next year since I have another doll on layaway.

Anybody ordering the Hubery before it gets discontinued?

Help please! I've just recently put up a Flickr account but am having trouble adding Flickr images to my box opening post. I use the share URL but the images don't come up at all. Any thoughts on what I could do would be much appreciated!

As far as I can see, it's not but if there's a specific setting I should be looking for. I can doublecheck.
