The urge to be dyed is strong with this one...

Theo will be going for a dip in the good ol' dye bath as soon as I get his replacement hand in the mail (*). Please hope for a lovely, even color!

(*) That second Star Wars ref was completely unintentional, lol.

 

Sooo... does anyone have any news on the postponed to middle of october sale? Did I miss it?! :O

 

I've been stalking DIM's page, Rainbow. So unless the sale went on for less than 24 hours, we haven't missed it yet.

 

Oof, thats a relief, thanks @wherethelilacsbloom ! I got busy at work and forgot to check their site for about a week and suddenly remembered I was patiently waiting for a rerelease of Gayane! Ever since I realized Gayane looks like Daenerys Targaryen (from Game of Thrones) I've been obsessed with that idea, lol

 

Oooh, @PeppermintPocky - I can't wait to see how he turns out!

No word on our order yet (I'm in MissEmily's group order) but it'll come, eventually. I think I've decided my Ace is definitely the cook on the pirate ship, and his name is Justice. Other than that, I'll just have to see what I can dig up for him to wear.

 

It would seem that they postponed the sale event to Nov. 10-15, according to their website. And they made the note that these dolls will not be offered for sale ever again

I might get more than one head, now that I know they'll not be coming back.

Ah! That's so sad. I was hoping DiM planned to revamp them... maybe...? Makes me all the more thankful I bought my boy when I did.

What other head are you considering, if you don't mind my asking? I'm sure your future Flowne would enjoy a friend!

 

I'm looking at the upcoming sale and bodies have me a bit overwhelmed. How are knees for the standard Happy girl body? How does it pose, does anyone know?

 

I just tried a bunch of MSD outfits I have on my Flowne (she's in the glamorous girl body) and everything seems to be a bit off. Both slim and regular MSD clothes. Anyone have any tips for clothing these lovelies? I'd love to find her a nice dress.

Has anyone tried hybridizing a Happy head on a big baby (what are they called?) body?

 

I have seen a Love head on the new little child like body that Dollzone has? But the pictures are not very clear if you want to see the proportions of how the head looks on that body.

 

@RockingHorseSoul , I tried my Miru head onto the Aimerai Big BB body and the head was ridiculously way too small lol

 

On the subject of hybrids ... does anyone happen to have a Gayane or Annabeth and both current boy bodies? I need to make up my mind if they open sales again soonish

 

I dyed my Theo today with RIT Dyemore Sandstone and am super-psyched at the results!

Here's a sneak peak of my boy's new tan. I'll snap better photos tomorrow in natural light, as the lighting in my house tends to distort his color. Gonna let him cure for 48 hours before restringing him, just because I'm paranoid.

I finally finished modding my half closed eyes Larina, gave them a face-up and found them eyes and a name
Unfortunately I don't really have any bodies they can borrow readily available, so they're kinda just floating at the moment.

I love your Laia! That skintone is amazing! I'm a huge fan of blue resin even though I don't actually own blue dolls myself, just one mint and one blue-grey.
I have a Laia too, that face of hers is just perfect. ^_^

All of this discussion about dyed DiM's is really interesting, glad to see so many different skintones!

 

Dropping in to show my Flowne, Paisley.

She is currently borrowing the body of my Kid Delf girl (this one if you're interested) which isn't an amazing resin match but it fits great! The body is a good handful of years old too.

In the process of buying the new happy immature body for her. I know I will need to mod the neck some, but I'm excited for her to stop being a floating head.

Has anyone got experience with sanding the necks?

 

Sorry to drop in only to ask a question (and, of course, say that everyone's dolls look amazing ), but I'm a bit confused by DiM's notice about the event from the 10th to the 15th. Are they saying that the dolls will not be sold anymore once the sale starts? Or will they be discontinued after? I sent them a message but it took a few days for them to reply last time and I don't want to miss the chance for my Primrose(wrong thread, I know, but I can't find the one for tinies). I don't know if I want to buy her now or wait for a sale that may mean she sells out too fast for me to snag her. How much was the sale last time? I don't know if it would make much of a difference since I'm only planning on ordering the head anyway... also I'm a bit disgruntled that they only have NS available for resin color, but I suppose with the limited quantities I will have to make do... though, I remember they were like restocking some in batches when this discontinuation thing just started? So maybe if I wait I could get her in WS? I dunno, sorry for being such a worrywart, I just have the perfect character for this doll and I don't want to miss my chance! D:

 

Hi, @Cattya . As far as I understand it, DIM is discontinuing all of their current sculpts after this one final sale, from Nov. 10-15. So after Nov. 15, these dolls will be gone forever.

 

@Cattya , the sale is time limited, not number llimited, so as long as you order within the time frame she wont sell out. Most of DiM's dolls are only available in NS, I dont know the criteria they used to decide but only like four of the heads ever had the option for WS.

@astromayhem , The easiest way to sand a neck to to use a dremel. Regular sandpaper takes literally forever.

 

Are the bodies going to be available too?

My Laia is on the Happy new girl body and I just cleaned her up a few days ago and finally sanded her seams too (she's five years old) and tried to sand the neck too a bit but not sure if it made any difference. Though I haven't had problems with posing or the head placement, I just did the sanding for aesthetic purposes.
I'm so eager for the sale to start! (going to order Marcellina head)

Laia is an absolutely gorgeous sculpt, I particularly love her mouth.

Also, throwing in another vote for dremeling if modding necks, I've done one with regular sandpaper and it took for freaking ever.

Super excited for DiM to open orders back up tomorrow, even if I still haven't decided exactly what I want to get. I know I'm going to get Lucinda and a Happy body and a Love girl, but I'm also considering getting Oakley a body (and modding it a little)
What's everyone else planning on ordering?

Oh, I know what you mean. My Kid Delf is very lucky her resin didn't match my DIM girls or she might have lost her body to Miru for the time being!

I am sad that my financial situation hasn't improved, so I won't be able to order Jullis or Larina like I wanted. But at least I already have three DIM heads to comfort myself with. I'm sure I can get Larina and Jullis secondhand if I really need to.

Ah that sucks, but at least the secondhand market is always there if you need it.

On a semi-related topic, does anyone have someone on a Happy Body and a Love Girl that would be able to take a photo of them together for me? Or point me in the right direction to a pre-existing photo comparison?

 

I have messaged DIM just now on the topic of their final order period (10-15 nov.), since pretty much everything on their site is still listed as sold out? But perhaps someone else has already written them an email/gotten a response/ has more information? I really don't want to miss out on this final chance to order laia and larina! * _ *

 

I love your Flowne! Her ears are so cute and her wig is a beautiful shade of pink!

As far as sanding necks go, I don't have experiencing modding DIM necks, but I did have to do that for my other hybrid. I sanded the inner neckhole on the head as opposed to the body's neck, itself... but since DiM uses faceplates, I don't know if that would work quite as easily.

@Hyperion I did get a response just now : ) They did not answer whether every head/body would be available again, but they responded to my question on the order period itself. literally what I got was;

I understand that they probably want have cleared up most of their backlog, but I'm getting to the point where I'm about to stop waiting, since they keep pushing it further and further back and I can't keep pushing everything else on my list back and back.

So I've been searching around for an answer, is there a reason why Jullis can't be on the version 2 boy body? I planned on ordering him with the ver 2 but it clearly states it just wont work for him. If his head really that different? thank you.

 

@Riine , His head is just way bigger than all the newer happy size heads. The old boy body is large enough for him but the V2 body is very small.

DiM has opened up some dolls for sale again, but there's a bunch that are still sold out! I've messaged them to ask if that's it, so hopefully I'll get a response soon...If this is it, I honestly don't know if I'm going to be ordering anything
EDIT: apparently everything that's going to be available will be up by tonight

 

Aaah sorry for the late reply, thank you for your help! It seems the event is upon us... or is it? I'm a bit confused about where it says, "The event period is for few days from now on." Is it saying the event has started and will continue for a few days, or that the event hasn't started yet and will start in a few days? I've already bothered them with enough questions and to be honest I'm kind of embarrassed about being so confused, so I figured I'd ask if any of you can interpret this for me. The main reason I'm confused at all is that I wasn't sure if there was going to be a sale, but none of the listings say they're on sale so I'm not sure if there will be a sale in a day or two, or if the event just consists of bringing the out-of-stock dolls back in stock? I don't want to wait and miss out but if there's a possibility of the price going down in the next day or two I want to consider that as well.

I'm hoping that with more experience ordering from companies I'll be better at deciphering this stuff, but for now all I can do is ask.

 

Most of the Happy and Sweet dolls are available again. I'll guess that Love will be available by the AM.

 

@Cattya - the sale is currently going but theoretically they haven't finished updating all of the listings yet. However I do not think the price will be going down any further from what it currently is, I'm pretty sure they've already applied the sales prices to the listings.

@Kymera - The one Happy doll that I most desperately wanted is one of the ones not available *whingewhingewhinge* Hopefully she'll become available once the Loves do as well

 

Yikes did shipping go up? All Ive got in my cart is one head and the shipping is $60.

@Cattya , yeah they "few days" thing is kind of annoyingly vague. Im hoping they'll set a clear end date once they finish updating all the listings.. These are definitely the sale prices though.

Ahhh the second/last order period is so tempting... I just received my Luria and Ace kits, and cannot get my eyes off Benetia. Any idea how long they will accept orders?

I have had to ignore the discontinued dolls sale for awhile as I really shouldn't be buying more dolls and always thought I would get a Flowne human head on the marketplace later when money permitted but I couldn't resist looking and now I have a problem. (no self control) I need, really need a dim girl in my life but I can't decide between a Larina or a Larina half closed eyes or an Annabeth, the pressure is on and I have to make a decision.
I am going to have to use my credit card to pay for it and I don't know if I should be totally reckless and get two heads or just try and be a bit more sensible.

So please any help, opinions, comparisons between the heads, what you like better about a certain head.

I got my shipping notice today, so I guess my girls won't come home before the last sale ends This needs thinking about. I'm pretty much set on Amelie's head and a Gayane boy, but I think everything else will get scrapped.
