[Adopted] CP Delf Discussion Part 8

That's the biggest problem! All my 18s are different brands and sizes so I'm not sure I'll get an accurate idea of size with them. My 16s are are too, but I have way more of them, and I think I can still get a decent idea of what the eyes I want will look like. I need to go through the eye bin again and see what I have. I keep looking at pictures of my Chiwoo who I thought has 16s in - he had 18s when I first got him and I can't tell the difference at all so no I have no idea. I have a couple pics of one of my Volks boys I used as an eye comp for someone with 18s and 16s - and all of this has just made me grateful my Breakaway is blind so I don't have to deal with this eye nonsense with him *throws things*

It really wouldn't be a big deal except I plan on buying a few pairs of eyes so he can mix and match...I don't want to spend all the $$ and change my mind D:

talithax ~ I actually really like your El in the 16s. It looks devious - which is a good look. Maybe I'll go totally cray and give mine one of each! That'll reinforce that whole "he wears contacts" thing. Or make him look insane. One of the two. *flails*

 

VampireAngel13 LOL good luck with it all I sometimes feel like it's ok to buy eyes that may not work since if they are a nice brand, they usually aren't too hard to sell or trade. I do agree that sometimes the 16s can give a more snarky look, but for some characters that doesn't work as well. Other times it just depends on the color even. Els do like to have LOTS OF THINGS so I'm sure he won't mind if you get him several to try

 

Ha I believe it!! I already have several pairs of eyes and wigs lined up to buy when I figure out what sizes are best for him, and I bought a guitar for him already (none of my other band-members that I've owned for years have instruments...O.o). Clothes will come next. I'm going to be broke....

 

Everyone's pictures have definitely swayed me, and I submitted the order this morning with 18mm eyes for both my boys. Hopefully I can show the two of them off soon, since the El head is off to the modder for his repairs and eye-opening, too! (I'm so excited to watch him come together, and will be eating up any and all photos of Els until he's back.)

 

Weird, I perfer 16mm in both my Shiwoos and Els.

 

I think I'd be fine with either, Rynn007, but since both are modded Dreaming sculpts, I can't say whether the eye openings are the same size as in an actual OE head. Since the 18mm photos did look quite nice, I decided to go for them to avoid gapping problems.

 

everyone has different tastes. All my Lishes wear 18mms because I prefer the larger eyes.

My Dreaming Lishes have the same size eye wells as the OEs, so I don't think you'll have a problem in that area.

 

Hmm I have always used 18mm eyes in my Soos with the exception of my AES who wears 20mm. I have a new pair of 20mm makos I will have to wait to try when my AES comes back from Angel Toast.

But here are some 18mm in a DES.

I wouldn't have thought so - there is no difference between the original El and Elf El, Lishe and Elf Lishe and Shiwoo and Elf Shiwoo, so I presume it would be the same for the Chiwoo. Unless it was released more than once, then going on the example of the thinner faces of the Elf Lishe 06 and Elf El 06, there's always a chance of a difference.

But hopefully someone who knows Chiwoos will add their expertise.

 

There is definitely a difference between chiwoo and elf chiwoo. Years ago, when my friend Kearsy got her elf chiwoo, we went to a meet and got to compare him with a friend's regular chiwoo, and there is definitely a difference in mold. The chiwoo is more rounded, while the elf chiwoo is more narrow.



And with wigs on.

 

I personally have 20's in my Soo Special, but then again her eyes are really massive.

I've been liking 18mm in my Delf girls lately (If and Soony). The brand really does seem to make a difference though. The Mako eyes I have in 18mm run a tad small, and I've got some Ving's in 18mm I still need to try when I get some energy. Here's some spam of my Soony, Junko (who stole my F60 body XD):



I'm excited to see how the F60 Soony compares to her. I have one coming that will be her brother, and a minifee one because who can resist Soony? XD

 

I've got a pair of 18mm ED eyes on the way, to try on my Delf Soony girl.
She currently has a pair of Gumdrops in (looks like), also 18mm, I think. They're a salmon pinkish colour, which is nice, but isn't quite what I like. I have a strong preference for blues and blue mixes.

Anyway... I'm adding a photo from this evening:



I did a bit of crochet last night, and Leilane (the Delf Soony) ended up with a new RED beanie. For some reason, I see her in my mind, wearing deep-cherry-red things like hats, socks, leg-warmers, scarves... etc...

 

My lovely Soo wears 20mm eyes due to her eye sockets being giant. I do not know the brand, as I bought them at Think Pink XD

When you say the eyes run a little small, is it just the iris size, or are the eyes small in the sockets (with gapping at the edges)? Wondering if I might need 20mm in Makos, but I generally prefer to size down rather than sizing up.

It's mostly the irises. I haven't noticed any significant gapping for the eyes themselves. There's the teensiest bit of gapping that can happen with her depending on how they're positioned (I can get her to look up, mostly to the side, and straight forward but positioning them a little too much looking to one side can gap a bit), but overall it's really not noticeable or bad. I'll see if I can snap a better close up pic to show you what I mean.

Miffimifster: Your Soony is gorgeous! The red looks great next to that dress.

 

i am so glad we are discussing preferred eye sizes in soony im about to buy my new girl some Mako and i wasnt sure if i should get 18 or 20mm. these pics will help. gorgeous dolls everyone!

I was thinking of getting incoming-F60-elf-Soony (who may have smaller eye openings, nobody knows yet) some Owl eyes from Mako, but knowing the right size is pretty important

Also, I accidentally a whole Lishe.

(A friend was having to sell her doll for financial reasons, and she's a gorgeous NS girl with a Luts face-up, and I'm now apparently going to be bringing her home from my visit to England. I cannot argue with this plan!)

I finally caved and bought a Juri05 :'D she should be on her way now! I'm getting a week off work in October, and it looks like it's going to be a week of doll maintenance LOL. I'll have to re-faceup both my Juris, my Elf El... and I think my Mako eye order is finally about to arrive, I can't wait to try out the owl eyes in my CP Elf boys >3<.

I got to see VampireAngel13's new El at our Halloween meet yesterday and I definitely think he'll end up being my next Delf. I should've gotten a pic of him with Io but I didn't 'cause we just kept talking and talking about doll stuff. lol!

Urg so many beautiful Lishes ;3; I still slightly regret selling my 06 Elf Lishe but there was always something a bit off about her. Now I realise her head was quite narrow compared to the normal Lishe. Which... I will one day have XD can't resist the bobble headed CP dolls.

Kittywolf13 - such a cute Yder! I gave my Barry a wig that frames his face; I think the Yder sculpt suits wigs that sit very close to the head, just my own opinion of course but it's always worth a scan through the database to see what others have done.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Well, not great-photo (or even good-photo!) spam, but how about a pair of oldies - Nanuri06's. These two heads finally got bodies and went to my area meet recently. I bought both heads secondhand, with their faceups already on them. --I have this vague memory regarding the modded head, that originally there were a pair of heads modded with the third eye and given matching fantasy face-ups as a set. But I'm not sure where or how to verify that, unless someone else remembers it too!

Noriko (DES) and I went to the Hatsune Miku concert in NYC October 17th, but before we went to the concert, we went to the Miku art Expo. A selfie of Noriko and I next to the life-sized Miku statue (she's 5'2" in case you were wondering.) Noriko was cosplaying as "Hatsune Miku at age 32."

I don't have a Chiwoo (yet!) but I DO have Shiwoo...and others too!

This is the first time I have all of my current Delf in one pic. From left to right its:

Manfred (Shine), my morose goth boy; Prism, (Sleeping Yder) Goddess of the rainbow and colors as well as the recipient of the Epically Cool Rainbow Wig ; Tielo, my vampire Shiwoo who is currently waiting on a wig; Noriko, (DES) the backup vocalist and keyboards to the band Nittle Grasper; Ryuichi, (OE Shiwoo) Nittle Grasper's lead vocalist and frontman; and Ryuma (Dreaming Shiwoo), a mangaka (comic book artist) and (original character) older identical twin brother to Ryuichi.




Poor Ryuichi has a new wig waiting for him, but since I don't know how to cut hair, much less wig hair, he's patiently waiting for me to watch enough YT vids to learn how to do so. And now, I'm about to get a new addition to my Delf family! YAY!

Dantes is beautiful yumi! You did a really great job on his faceup sadly I don't have any chiwoos to spam (or elf chiwoo for that matter) but I did take Padma out yesterday.
