    1. I’ve got some other plans the 19th, but I’m free the other Mondays.

Edit- I vote for the library because bad parking is the bane of my existence.

    2. I'm in the middle of trying to move apartments right now so Monday the 28th is the worst, but I will be interested in trying to attend one of the other dates, if that's what everyone decides.

    3. Im looking forward to some chances to meet coming up. :whee:while I'm here id also just like to suggest the great plains nature center for someday when it's not too hot or wet. Which, please forgive me I might have already suggested it earlier I don't remember. They have a big covered eating area sheltered from direct sun. I know I'd enjoy taking a doll to the nature center for some golden hour photos sometime, maybe anyone else is into that.

    4. So May 12th looks the tentative winner for next time!

I am game generally for an outdoor meet weather permitting. I will check with the Nature Center on whether they need anything from us to use the space just in case but I imagine it’s probably first come first served most of the time. Sunset for May 12th would fall around 8:30pm so it would be an ideal time to catch golden hour photos!

I did find out The Burrow (east side off Rock Rd) has free rooms that would be available until 9pm on weekdays if we wanted slightly more time for an indoor meet. They book 6-9 on weeknights and could fit up to 12. They’re set up for ttrpg playing (tables, chairs) so that could work well for us too.

So basically our options are now downtown library, nature center, or geeky store for May 12th.

    5. It's amazing how quickly the days get longer in the spring moving towards summer :drool all those place options sound like they can be great. Hooray!

    6. Well I don't believe I will be able to attend on the 12th afterall. Of course :sigh lost 3 people at work this week. So next month's schedule is retooled, and probably I'm covering someone's vacation day blah blah blah. Hope you all have a nice time!

    7. We'll catch you one of these days @AlisonVonderland !

Leaning towards indoors for May 12th. Preferences on Burrow Geekeasy (can go until 9) vs Advanced Learning Library (6-8)? I'll be able to reserve either one after this weekend.

    8. I can do either but would prefer the library for familiarity. I’ve got finals May 12-14 so I’m not trying to stay out very late. I have a 9am exam the next day, and I will probably be cramming after the meet.

Work schedule is going back to a combo of Saturdays/IDK for a while. I’m trying to switch jobs so that’ll change (hopefully!). But I should be predictable for the next meet.

    9. We are booked into the Advanced Learning Library’s Room 204 (Purple) on the 2nd floor for Monday May 12th, 6-8pm.

I have reached out to a couple other doll collectors I know who primarily have playline or vinyl dolls (Monster High, Pullip, American Girl) so feel free to invite others in too!

    11. Aughhh, I unfortunately had some nonsense come up and despite my previous post will NOT be able to be there. I apologize! I was looking forward to it, too.

    12. @PegasusxCroquet Stuff happens! Thanks for letting us know :)

I brought an American Girl couch which may have been overly ambitious of me lol, but here for whoever else can make it in!

    13. Hey everyone. How've you all been? Not an on-topic doll event exactly but there is a doll show taking place next Sunday in Wichita by the Wichita antique doll study club:

      Wichita Doll Show
      Sept 28 10-4pm
Holiday in at 549 S Rock Road
      $5 admission

      Anyone thinking of going?
I saw the flyer and was considering it. Mostly just because I do enjoy a good any type of doll gander and could use more practice getting out for new/unexpected things.

Anyway... Might show up with my own doll and poke around. I have been here a year and not met anyone outside of the job I'm about to leave, so yeah, trying to figure that out.

    14. I was going to poke in just to look for eyes or furniture, it seems largely geared towards turbo vintage bisque dolls, but one never knows. I'll be carrying a Dollfie Dream around because I don't want to haul around anything heavier lol

    15. I'm still not sure if I'm going today. It would sure be convenient if someone had eyes or wigs or some little thing I might use, though I was definitely just thinking it would be fun to go look. I love looking at all kinds of dolls even kinds I would not own. I hope you have fun if you go @PegasusxCroquet

    16. I went to the doll show and bumped into @PegasusxCroquet unplanned! I took an offtopic Azone girl this year, but in past years I've brought BJD I wanted to try to find wigs or eyes for. This year I ended up bringing home a Ruby Red Fashion Friends Hana and an American Girl Mini display stand because I have a hoard of minis to customize and I'm hoping the display gives me motivation to work on them

I talked to a few collectors-of-other-dolls who are local while there and floated the idea of doing a crafty learning thing at MakeICT - I have a friend who wants to learn more about rooting fashion dolls, I'd like to try wig and eye-making, practicing faceups, that sort of thing. MakeICT has a cool textiles specific room for sewing and a fab lab for 3D printing/resin printing, but their other classrooms are open for pretty much anything. I have a membership and I can have up to three guests, so could be a great fit for small group activities.

There's also a local Wichita Jfashion swap meet I'll be tabling at on October 19th, and I will likely bring at least one of my DearSD with me. There's no fee to enter, just a fee if you get a table.

    17. That's cool @Sarako ! I'm glad you both did go. I went as well and had a very nice time! Talked to the lady with several bjds in the back corner for a little while. I bought some knitwear from a vendor in the middle (the one who had the JID girl for sale) and I think it's all a good fit on my doll chateau. So that's really nice.
You won't believe it but I won their last raffle of the day and now have two reproduction antique dolls I do not have any real interest in tucked away in my closet. They have outfits handmaid by the previous (deceased) owner which are very well done. I feel so guilty for winning them.

So the make ict membership gives you guest passes for the what, $25 a month? I didn't realize. That helps. I moved to South Central in April and live close to that library. I've been meaning to go get our library cards at least.

    18. I wouldn’t feel guilty - they’re yours now, so whatever you do with them is up to you! I know that it can feel much harder than that in practice.

For MakeICT, it’s not literal guest passes, more just a standing policy. I also have to keep an eye on said guests so they’re not allowed to wander without me. I think they probably settled on three as a good number for potentially bringing in one’s friends/family. Once you have your badge activated you can come and go at will. I know they also offer scholarships to help cover or minimize the membership fee.

Library cards are always worth getting! In Wichita, you can get the main city library cards + if you go to one of the suburb libraries like Andover you can get a Sunflower consortium library card as well. Andover Public Library also lends American Girl dolls (maybe only to their residents)!

I’ve got a fairly busy October lined up but if someone wanted to meet up beyond the fashion swap, let me know where to show up! November/December will calm down for me but I know it’s the busy season for others’ obligations usually.

    19. I have heard there will be some MonsterHigh dolls attending the fashion swap & maybe even more resin beyond mine*! So feel free to come by and have an impromptu doll meet!

    20. @Sarako belated response but it was good to know about the make ict passes because I have exactly two other people in my normal hang out group in Wichita and we would love to go all together or just two of us and do something together, so this was perfect. My household is very poor so the difference between me and my partner having to buy individual passes vs one being enough would make the difference in us ever trying it or not.
On to the jfashion swap- that event sounds fun and I think I will let my partner know about it because they will probably be interested in checking it out. Was it free to enter or a small cost? It's just nice to find different stuff to do on a Sunday. :blush I like to be forever invisible so I don't know if I would bring any doll... If anyone ever wants to spot me someplace they would probably just have to know what I look like already.:XD:
Edit: ooh it's this very Sunday! :dance fun fun fun
Idk maybe I would feel like bringing someone. I have Flora as my current Volks in house.

    21. I totally understand about costs, it can make a huge difference!

The swap event is totally free to enter & I think the raffle tickets for door prizes are free too, just be around when they’re drawn sort of thing. And if your partner has any stuff to swap with folks with tables I think that is fine too (for people who did reserve tables, it was $15 to help recoup the cost of the venue rental).

The organizer did a similar swap a couple years ago with the university cosplay group and lots of people had accessories/shoes type stuff as well as garments. I’m plus size so will definitely have some plus size garments on my table but plan to have other stuff too!
