Abio Angel Discussion Part 2

OK, I am totally new here, my 1st post....and just got my 1st real BJD! He's an Abio Angels "San". I am thrilled with him. Immediately made him a black and metallic gold "Sky Pirate" costume. Tunic over pirate pants with a sash. Black pleather vest and black pirate boots. He looks awesome.... Not quite so sweet, especially since he's carrying a pistol and a sword....
I have no comparison to other brands but he is very nice.....
And please point out what I need to do different in posting.....

 

He's the avatar...... He was tired after his photo shoot...... actually his (letter opener) sword is quite heavy.
I haven't quite got the hang of posing him. That and his knee keeps popping out of joint.... Scares me to not play with him....
So how bad do these guys stain from black clothing (silk!)? I'm sick of trying and failing to remove black marks on my vinyl family.....

 

It depends on the clothing, I think. I don't know about silk, but my Er has a couple of black outfits and they stain a lot in some places. They don't stain nearly as badly as vinyl does, though, so most stains should be really easy to remove with a magic eraser and rubbing alcohol.

 

I have AA Jiu and I love her. She is a quality doll. I just bought Wu this morning. I might be the only owner of a Wu or will be on DOA. I'm not sure about that I've been looking for a photo for months. I will definately post pictures of my Wu when I get her. I hope it soon because she was in stock.

Have you seen photos other than the promos??? If so, I'd love to see them! I haven't seen any owner photos of Wu yet...

I thought she looked stunning in her promo photo, but she seemed completely different from other angles. So far, all of the newer sculpts have seemed that way in my opinion...a lot narrower, angular, and somewhat awkward .

 

Yah, found a carved flintlock on ebay...also a carved rifle....seems I like weapons of not much destruction.... Made the outfit from a silk sari.

That is awesome! A doll sized flintlock pistol that isn't a lighter is a very good idea. And a rifle, too? Doubly awesome.
A silk sari? I wouldn't have guessed. I love the colours, black and gold are great together. ^^ I have much respect for your sewing ability, I...have very, very little. Oh, yay steampunk! It's great when it's done well.

Thank you.^^Luke is somewhere in between those two. He's pretty much a Jrock influenced American goth boy, if that makes any sense. The outfit he currently has on looks a LOT like H.Naoto's stuff, only way less pricey, but his makeup style is more like a little Visual Kei mixed with a lot of classic gothy makeup. And of course his beloved Skelanimals hat is pure Hot Topic mallgoff. *lol*

I did the face up and made the outfit from a pattern I got online.

 

hi ppl, have any one looked at double jointed bodies for AAs?

 

My new Wu is double jointed. It is possible that I have a AA head with a Angel of dreams body. I read that is what's happening. I'm not sure but I heard something like they are not doing bodies anymore. The body matches so I would have to contact dollfie fashion island to find out. My Jiu came with the single joint body and I have to say I prefer the double jointed body.

 

I love my AA. He doesn't pose as well as some of the dolls I've tested out, but I'm thinking a little modding at the joints will help.
I love their face sculpts! They're so detailed!

 

I love their faces too! As for the bodies, I've switched out most of mine (I just kept one of each type and sold the rest). I don't mind the poseability issues that much, but I just think they could be a lot more attractive (especially those hands).

If you do manage to make them pose better, please post your results .

 

I'm interesting in a ShiWu that I've found on ebay but he is really cheap...is that normal?
I'm a little bit worried because of this price....
does someone have a ShiWu and show me pics?

What is the price? All Abio angels are 'cheap' for that scale. They're normally about $240-$300 new-they can be even lower than that used (I've seen them as low as $160).

There are some shiwus on this board-you can try looking at the abio angel database if you want to see some of them .

 

Where is it double jointed? Can you take a picture of that body compared to the old one your Jiu has?

 

Hi all, I have an Abio Angel Liu I bought her from a seller in Spain off ebay second hand and she only came today, I had to restring her as someone had had a go themselves and made a bit of a mess of it. She also had a rubbish faceup which I have removed ready for me to do myself when my can of MSC turns up! She doesn't sit very well but she stands really well. One shoulder seems a little floppy compared to the other and her S hook in her head was too small for my liking and almost dissappeared down her neck so I made my own for now. But she is a really nice doll i'm happy with her.

 

Whee~ finally the thread I was looking for or at least hoping that I could get an answer here! I just bought an AA Shiwu Head! It was a spontanous buy 'cause I fell in love ith it at first sight and it fit perfect for a doll I've head in mind for quite some time. Now I'm not all that familiar with the whole What fits with what issue but I wanna get a worthy body for this beauty asap. So I was wondering if there's any companies you guys could recommend to 'hypridize'

I am sorry Love Haze I did not see your request for the body shots, PM me if you still want them. I definatly have an AOD body. I have one official AA body and they are single jointed. I actually like this body better. The only problem I have with this is she should have told me first. April is banned from DOA and when I have asked her for info in the past she does not answer. I think she thinks I want my money back. I am very happy to have the Wu head at all. I bought her when she was listed as a offical dealer here so luckly I have had no problems showing her at DOA. I also notice the resin on my Wu is pinker then my Jiu. I want to keep her but if I did want to sell her I would feel like her worth is diminished by the whole thing. It is scary that someone can trick even DOA. I know now to be a more careful consumer. I have read much worse horror stories with people buying doll and then not getting anything. I feel lucky I got a full doll, even if it was not the doll I agreed to.

 

has anyone tried any jointed hands on their boys/girls yet?

i've ordered the female hands from dollzone and will take pics on how it fits on Cammy when they arrive.

i wondered if anyone had photos of an aa normal skin girl on a luts body. i have the body, but want to get an aa head to go on it. is the match good? is the fit okay?

Yay, an AA topic that's still (somewhat) alive. I have Shi, plus a Shi-wu head for which I am currently trying to find a body. Both are normal skin, not sure if there were any other options given.

Anyone know if the normal skin AoD bodies are a good match?

Your Shi-wu's the darker pink tone, right? I've got a winking Shi-wu like that on a normal pink doll family body-the match is great!

It seems to look alright on most normal pink bodies, except AA is a shade darker (including in comparison to AOD skin, but the one I have is a few years old).

That's a nice picture, I'm surprised you managed to get a natural looking pose out of that body :P.

 

Hehe, thanks - they're not really very cooperative, those bodies. I prefer double jointed bodies, which is why I am anxious to find out whether the AoD resin will match (all the AoD dolls around here are ws).

Yep, I reckon the correct colour/name would be dark pink, or normalskinpink, or something like that. It's pretty beige, compared to my ws dolls. That's interesting about a match with Doll Family; one of the girls right here where I live have one of those, in normal skin too, I believe - we just haven't been able to meet since she got hers. I will have to check that out, thank you for the tip!

 

I have 3 Abio Angels and I love theses guys to death. I got my first AA 2 years ago just before Anime North and then this summer I got 2 more off a girl who is selling them in Toronto Canada. Divinity Dolls.

My first was a Er (Nico) and then at Anime North this May I got a Ling (Connor Stoll) and at Polaris convention I was able to pick up a Yi (Travis Stoll). I just love the Abio Angels faces. Here a pic of my 3 boys together.

I have 2 Abio Angel boys, both second hand. I have a Abio Angel Ling (Maze) and a Abio Angel Yi (Ichigo) and I'm thinking about getting an Abio Angel Er if I can find them. I just love my boys!

I have 3 Abio Angels . I have a Er named Nico, a Yi- Travis and a Ling named Connor. I love Abio boys.

 

Poking my head in here. I recently aquired an AA Er (who is darling and easily now my favorite out of my expansive family.) and am completely in love with him and his face- he's exactly right for the character I was hoping he could be, but I've had a bit of trouble getting him to 'fit in' with my other SDs.. (A Soom Gena Hybrid and DemonGarden BasilHybrid) does anyone else have this kind of trouble? It seems almost like the features on AA's are more rounded and generally larger (at least than the SD's in my home.) Anyone have a comparison shot or two of their AA with an SD from another company they could share with me?

I'm trying to decide on a sculpt for a companion, but they have to look 'right' together. XD

 

I just got an AA Jiu head that I plan on hybriding. I'm a little bummed to see the thread kind of trailed off last year. Anyone still doing much with their AA dolls?

 

AlmySidaKay - I love my Abio Angel! I have a Yi - he was my first doll and still the one I consider my 'main' doll. He's always the first one I look to buy new clothing and accessories for, and I just love him.

Xhai-Pan Gale - I know your post is from awhile back, but I do think that the features of AA dolls are a bit bigger/rounder than most other SD's. I was a little bothered when I got my second doll and discovered that, but I don't really notice it much anymore. I think their heads are just a little bit wider. There's a pair of glasses that my 70cm boy wears, and if my AA boy wore them, I think he'd definitely stretch them out. But I love his fat head.

 

I got just a head from Jiu but she is so lovely! I got her all together and snapped a photo the day it got her, she also decided on the name Lena as well. I hope you. Enjoy!

AlmySidaKay: Lena is lovely! Jiu is one of my favourite Abio Angels, a while ago I was sooo tempted to buy a head, but as I'm only in the hobby to a very limited degree lately, decided against it.

My boy is a Yi named Kody, or Kodavi if you wanna get all formal. :P I've always planned to hybrid him, as much as I love his face, his body is rather cumbersome and makes me less inclined to do things with him, especially after I got my Minifees. Also I too have noticed their rather large round heads, it does make me worry about how a hybrid would go, I always planned to put him on a FL 60cm body when they came out with one, now they have one, would just need to save up to buy it (and then pay someone to mod Kody's head for it because I don't trust me) but part of me is tempted to just recreate him completely in the new doll but... I love his face, and you know, he was my first doll, the attachment is strong lol. Here's a recent photo:

My friend told me about her love for Abio Angel and her and I ended up trading, but she promised to share her as much as I did. She's been in the hobby a lot longer, and has loved them since they came out.

And then we traded back because I Iove my abio head. I think she is getting a different body this time though, possibly a fantasy doll or AoD. Lol Abio win!

This is Sonora... my abio angel 'Shi'. She was used and half a gift and half a purchase... I went half on her with my friend Dubious. (She was purchased on this site!) I've had her for... I think about 3 years now? She was my first doll, and even though my friend has been encouraging me to get a new body, I kind of want to keep her as is... she needs sueded and some new s-hooks something fierce though! lol

 

I've been busy for the past 11 years taking care my kid and family, I'm kind of outdated on the BJD world now. My only 2 BJD are still my Abio Angel Jiu 60cm and Lati Lami. My daughter now is a teenager and started interesting on my BJD. She doesn't like those outfit I have for my Abio Angel 60cm, but since I've been off the doll world for 11 years, I really have no idea what outfit can fit my BJD. I don't remember everything about BJD now, so I'm like a beginner again!

I searched on Etsy, and found many nice outfits are made for SD13 and Smart Doll. I asked one of the Etsy seller (from Korea) do her products fit my Abio Angel 60cm, I also provided her the measure of the doll, she replied me that "It is expected that compatibility will be good." I really not sure how good it will be.

Does anyone knows is the body build of Abio Angel 60cm female BJD same as SD13? My daughter wants to get some hoodies and a pair of jeans for my BJD.

Hi its been awhile since i posted on this site so please bare with me?

Uh the question is, i have had my abio angel ling for a very long time now. And i still for the life of me can't find shoes for the poor bugger, so i was wondering if anyone knew someone or some place where i could get the size required for the dolls foot. Or would i have to change his feet altogether?

Also i noticed this while setting him back up that his head cap doesn't want to stay on? Has anyone had this happen before? I mean said head cap looks a little bigger than the actual head by a few millimeters?


(Also if i posted this in the wrong thread again i am sorry its been awhile and its okay if it needs to be moved or deleted)

 

Buying doll shoes that fit is tricky. If no one has any sculpt or company specific recommendations, it might be easier to measure the doll's foot length and width in cm and inches and then use those measurements as references when shoe shopping. Good luck with the search!
