...with the head. The rest of the body is just a pile of clay yet to be sculpted >_> Well. I need to sand it smooth but I was curious and so I painted it (acrylic paints and stuff), it was pretty and then I tried blushing the cheeks and it just, whargh, really, really unevened the skintones. I'm going to wash it all off and stuff, so I can sand it smooth and then airbrush it and make it actually pretty. But here it is. I like the expression, that was unintentional at first. It needs a headcap (I had one. But i mistook it for clay I could use for other parts. So I'll have to make another one @3@. ) It doesnt necessarily have an actual wig, I'm going to see if I can't make a wig out of those fake-hair hairbands. And yes I do need to clean my room. I gotta shove some stuff up in the attic though so it has to wait. x_x;
I'd reccommend using a very fine sandpaper to smooth it out. You can get doll hair at Michaels. I'm not sure if you are in the US though. The hair is about 2-3$usd and found in the doll isle with the American Girl things. It comes in curly, wavy and straight in several colors. It's made from mohair so you get dye it using any semi-permanent hair dye, like Punky Colour, or Manic Panic, and there are several brands that carry normal hair colors, like auburn, shades of brown and black. The hairbands, like the ones they carry at Claire's are way more expensive. They are also synthetic (meaning plastic) and harder to style if you'd ever want to do that to them. I think thats a better option, unless you have the synthetic hair laying around and dont care about dyeing or styling it later on. the doll is great, i hope you had fun making it.
Thankyou very much for the info3. And yes, I'm in US. We have a Michaels nearby but it frankly...Sucks! There is a doll section but there are about,...Two options of hair. Dark brown and overlycurly, or blond and overlycurly. I was hoping for straight... Maybe I'll just buy an actual wig from a BJD store. Yeah, I probably will. My talent is not in wigmaking. S/he'll turn out to be MSD sized. Something like 40 centimeters tall. I think. I'm not sure. I'm never sure. And thankyou for the compliments and the advice on sanding, you are very helpful. I do have a question again before I tackle the body. The ball joints - I see some make them with wooden balls. Should I do wooden balls, or clay? I'm using SuperSculpey. I also have mexican pottery clay but. I'm not using that, it's not at all good for something like this.
I made ball joints with clay.Here ,I recommend a website. http://www.linkclub.or.jp/~oshizaka/honten/doll/howto/index.html It shows how to make a BJD from step to step.I think it is very useful! It is writened in Japanese.ops: So we have to look the pictures and guess...
