Aesthetics A Smile Better Suits a Hero; FFXIV WoL Shelling Log

Hi! It's been a hot minute since I've done much in the BJD world. I mainly am very happy with the ones I have and how they are, but there was one that I have always been not completely happy with; my Feeple60 Chloe. She is a beaut, but I never knew exactly what to do with her.

However, today it finally came to me. I have been on a FFXIV kick, and the game and my Warrior of Light (my character) have begun to mean a lot to me. I decided that I will begin my journey into shelling my precious WoL as my Feeple60 Chloe.

My Feeple60 Chloe was NS, so the first order of business was to figure out how to get her to be tan. I decided to go with blushing her with pastel.

and so it begins...I will be commissioning her outfit to be sewn/tailored (way out of my skill-level) and I have gotten a base-wig for her hair. Will update the specifics of this once I have them secured.

Blushing will be done by me and faceup also by me. Have got to cut those financial corners somewhere!

 

Hi! First update~

It was quite the Time trying to blush her tan. It took many hours of trival and error, but I finally got her to a place I'm happy with with regards to her resin color change.

I'm personally quite happy with the job I did! This is unedited except to make the picture a little brighter and more smooth (my camera + bad lighting = potato pictures). I used soft pastels. It took a lot of adding color, not being happy, and removing, then adding more, removing, rinse and repeat until I was completely happy. I also did her makeup again (had to sadly remove old, pretty faceup I previously did) but I think it turned out nicely. I also added the white markings of my WoL. For this job I decided to only blush the areas that would be showing outside the clothes. Her joints will be covered so no use, in my opinion, at this point spending more hours blushing everything when only a little bit of her body will show in the end.

I also have commissioned a tailor on Instagram for her outfit. I found a BJD tailor who was taking custom commissions after a lot of searching, by the name of noka collection who will also make the viera ears as well as my FFXIV WoL's main glam/outfit. Very excited to see it! I also have ordered the wig from Etsy from bbeautydesigns (wig pictured above is not final wig). The wig I ordered is more of a base, will be adding the styling myself, fingers crossed I do a good job on styling the wig!

Also, thank you to everyone who left kind supportive words of the project! It made me very happy to see others support this idea! I'm also happy to see I'm not the only one who thought of this idea (WoL as BJD) and its been amazing seeing others' ideas for this being done. I hope if you want to do this too, that my project will give you inspiration to do it

 

Hello! Long time no talk. I have been waiting on getting the outfit and accessories for my WoL, and they arrived! I have commissioned Noka's Collection on Instagram for this project's outfit.

However, there is a problem. I am starting to realize that while Feeple60 Chloe is very beautiful, there's something that's not sitting right with her being my WoL. Firstly, her face does not match my WoL and how I envision her to be in real life/as a doll. Secondly, her skintone is off from my WoL. Of course, there is nothing wrong with paler skin, however that simply doesn't represent my WoL accurately and it's bothering me. So, I have ordered a Myou Doll 1/3 Delia in Coffee skin to better suit a hero/this project. I ordered her in 1/3 so that she will fit these clothes, since the clothes are actually so nice and I highly recommend this particular seamstress.

Delia will have the same wig, and clothes, and accessories. I will make Feeple60 Chloe into someone else, maybe. Or maybe just a pretty doll to display. But she just doesn't fit what I want for my Final Fantasy FFXIV Warrior of Light. I will make another update once my Myou Doll 1/3 Delia arrives.

For curiosity's sake, here is Feeple60 Chloe as my WoL. My WoL is pretty olive-skinned, and unfortunately Feeple60 Chloe's face nor her skintone on this one match her. I know I could get her in tan, but I think Delia matches more in her face and not even just the custom skintone. I will definitely make good use of Feeple60 Chloe for something else (feeling kind of bad about doing this and making Feeple60 Chloe not my WoL anymore...as if she has feelings!)

 

the time has come! my myou doll 1/3 delia has arrived after almost getting lost. thankfully she got sent back to myou and they resent her quickly. i'm over the moon with her! the outfit i commissioned for this fits really well on her as well. personally i think this bjd is a lot more spot on. I have other plans for my feeple60 chloe eventually. but at least now, my WoL shelling is done! i did her faceup myself. FFXIV is definitely one of my favorite video games, and I am so happy I got to shell my beloved Warrior of Light into a bjd apparently i'm not the only one who does this, either. i love seeing other WoL dollies
