I worked a bit on Link’s cursed arm, adding some green glow and gold shimmer to the yellow bands. I wanted it to look a little ancient and worn. I also removed a few pieces that didn’t match up to the references we have now.
Thank you @skyealloway ! I worked on my Wolf Link Migidoll Miho, painting his white facial details on and sewing his ears into his fur wig. The wolf ears I made with sculpey, made a few holes in them, and then painted so I could sew them on and blend the wig with a little paint into the ears. I want to make his elf ears next.
Wild’s waist belt thingie has been made to go along with the arm guards and wrap. It’s looking more complete, but there are some things I need to tweak. Onward! Reference image:
I got back to work on Zelda since the poor thing hasn’t had anything of her own to wear. First I drew out a pattern for the pink dress. Then I cut out the bigger pieces, like her sailcloth and waist sash thing. I used a brad to hold her belt together and will make a cover to match the one from the game. I also need to paint the designs onto the sailcloth and waist flag and make the designs all around her pink dress. I need to check my shoe stash and see if I have any boots and leggings that might work, otherwise that’s on the list, too. I think the trickiest part will be the hair pieces/wraps. I need to find something that won’t slip right off the hair, since the hair is rather silky. It also has to have the right colours, and I’ll need two sets since her white dress (to be made) has slightly different accessories. Oh boy! Here’s a cute photo of her and Link because hand holding.
Wow! These are just incredible. I've loved just looking through all the different outfits and dolls you've created. You'll have a whole army of Links at this rate!
@cakie99 Thank you!! It started with just one…but then it multiplied and now, I’m afraid, it can’t be contained. I’m thoroughly enjoying sewing and crafting for this project, and I’m glad you enjoyed looking through it!
Absolutely loving your zelda! She's so pretty, and at the same time gives that same 'dont mess with me' attitude she has in the game!
Omg thank you so much @Tagath !!! I’m so glad you think so, I was a little worried when I first got her but she is really coming along nicely.
I got a horse! I've been searching for forever and I was fortunate enough to win the bidding war for this one. It needs some work, and I'd love to put some actual hair on the mane and tail. I love that all the gear came with it and fits perfectly for Link!
This is incredible! I love how you used 3d printing to make accessories for the character! Very inspiring!
Thank you so much @ParticiplePotato ! I wish I had my own 3D printer because it would make it a lot easier to make things, but I just don't have that budget at the moment. One day maybe. I was able to get all the designs painted onto the Hylian hood, using paint pens. I think it turned out pretty good. I swapped out Twilight Link's body to one a little more his body type. I just need to tweak the outfit a bit. I'm currently working on an Ordon Village outfit for him, too.
I got some hair delivered to work on Epona's mane, but my brain decided to get back to working on the Ordon Village outfit. He's always been one of my top 3 favourite Links. (sorry for the bad lighting) I still need to add details and paint a lot of little things, plus shoes, but it's off to a decent start. I always loved this look, and goat farmer Link is such a sweetheart, I needed to make this outfit.
Thank you @quilleth ! It's definitely helped me get more comfortable with sewing and making my own patterns.
I have enjoyed seeing your Links in the gallery so much. He is such an endearing and good looking character, it's awesome to see your ingenuity with materials (like the faux chain mail and the cardboard shield) and such a loving portrayal of the character. Wolf link is looking wonderful I look forward to seeing how everything keeps coming together.
You're so sweet @AlisonVonderland ! Thank you so much! I wish I had more time to work on everything, especially since this project has blossomed into so much more. But one step at a time! I have a cool idea for Wolf Link so I'm excited to get back to work on him.
I got a few more pieces done on Ordon Village Link, plus his little plush version. I still need to make shoes and arm wraps, but it's getting there. I forgot to mention I swapped his body out with a DIMdoll one, and thankfully the colour match isn't too bad.
that outfit looks so good! I'm a big fan of Link wearing anything but his green tunic, and his ordon outfit is definitely peak fashion... you've done such a good job with it too!!
I love this outfits so much! You've done very well at making these outfits look just like the references. It's amazing!
Thank you @Tagath ! As much as I love the green tunics, he has so many other options, too, I just can't help myself. You're so sweet @cakie99 ! I'm learning a lot as I go, so I'm glad they look good!
More work done! The second trailer for Tears of the Kingdom came out and finally gave me some good reference images. I wasn't too far off, which is great! So I tweaked some things and painted his curse/goddess hand black to work with more situations. Hilarious reference: I switched his arm out while he's in the blue tunic since it won't be seen and will reduce wear on the paint. I changed out the belt for the shoulder guard and added a band for the arm. I fixed up the arm guard and put what I've got together. All together again! I also had the chance to work on Epona. I painted the black mane/tail blonde and then began adding hair to fill it out. I need more so that's been ordered. I also painted the blonde above the hooves and added some light to her eyes. After all the hair is on, I'll work on trimming it to look right. I might paint the painted mane brown to match the body if I can make the mane thick enough. Thanks for following my crazy LoZ obsession!
It's been awhile (work, family health, my own health), but I was able to get some work done on Zelda. I painted the design onto the sailcloth, starting out with thin lines and then filling it out. I added the gold and jewel accents to the pink dress, as well as the bird to the sash. (Don't mind my mousepad haaa) I also added the tie decoration to the sash and finished the little details. Next will be shoes, bracelets, and hair accessories. I'm excited to try this all on Zelda and see what she looks like!
I just have a few more accessories to make for her (belt, shoes, bracelets, hair wraps), but she is getting there! I really want to make her the new Zelda look from Tears of the Kingdom, so that will be next on the docket. Here are some quick snaps:
Not much of an update, most of the things I've done lately have been small tweaks. But I did manage to find the props from a 20" Jakks Pacific Link figure that I can use for his sword and shield. The 3D printed ones I have are nice but very fragile. These toy ones are sturdier, and I will be painting them after filling the screw holes, and then weathering them to look more realistic. I had to remove and reattach the handle on the shield to work for a left-handed sword wielder, but other than that I think the scale is pretty close and works well. I also boiled one of Link's hands to make it so he can hold the Master Sword. I'm so happy with how this is all turning out.
I have the 20" link figure and was always impressed with the quality of the sword and shield accessories! They look even better with your Link !
