Welcome back I've been here only since 2011, but I think the forum itself has stayed functionally the same (or maybe I don't notice much from consistent use). I think the hobby has changed a lot in many ways, but if you still like old dolls for example you will find some company still. And if you like what is most popular now then you will find plenty of company. Nothing is stagnant forever, that's unnatural of course!

Hallo, long time no see! There's a LOT more companies and dolls, but a lot of good stuff out there. You should see what Granado's been up to! And the Fairyline from Fairyland, with fantasy parts! Hard to find because they do very limited runs, but they're out there. Dollshe has.... well jumped the shark in terms of timely deliveries- I'd advise to avoid. You might like Myou Dolls, they're newish, and Doll Family-H has some surprisingly beautiful and subtle sculpts that have surprised me personally. IOS has done some cool heads and have a lot more body variations now. Miracle Doll might also be up your alley.

 

Welcome back! What kind of props have you been making lately?

 

A lot of companies have closed and continue closing. Its really sad for me too, even when they weren't necessarily favorites of mine. I just feel bad thinking about it
I think if you can still find new companies and sculpts you like though, then it's not too different. I don't know what happened with me exactly, but I don't really see dolls I want to buy anymore. The new aesthetics on human faced dolls are mostly not doing it for me. There are a crazy amount of anthros though, that I personally like. I think if you like anthros they are having a big resurgence and there are so many cool ones to choose from. Dream valley releases tons of limited/event ones and dearmine is still around, has made new sculpts in that time, I think the luts zuzu delf were rereleased, and pipos is still around too, also cocoriang makes many cute little fellas (some are on topic, some aren't), same with Aileendoll (if you like fantasy, they make dragons as does dream valley).
Anyway sorry for talking you to death hope your new dolls arrive swiftly and without too many customs fees!

It’s always lovely to see an old-timer come back to the forum.

I remember the Abio Angel dolls. I really really wanted one back in the day. I’m so glad you still have Takuya! Would love to see a photo of him.

There have been so many changes since you have been away. So many companies have closed their doors. I find I’ve become very nostalgic for the older sculpts. Are there any older dolls that you regret not getting?

Love-love-love seeing Takuya! Thank you! There was something so appealing about those early Abio Angel sculpts. The current aesthetic is so different from those days. (LOL! Yeah, not enough “mood”.)

I hear you about the old CP/Delf sculpts. Those were so iconic. And, the closing of DIM was a real heartbreaker. I would sell a kidney for an old Danbi.

I’m kinda in the same boat as AlisonVonderland previously posted: “…I don't know what happened with me exactly, but I don't really see dolls I want to buy anymore. The new aesthetics on human faced dolls are mostly not doing it for me.” Which, actually, works out great for me because I have enough dolls already that really need my attention. (But, I still like to look.)

 

LOL! Wow! A tan Lishe! That's awesome! I may have to play barracuda around Fairyland, too. If they re-release Shiwoo, I'm so there for that!
