I was thinking about getting some glittery lip-gloss or something to put some sparkle on my boy's face for a photoshoot, but I wasn't sure if it would work. Has anyone tried this?
Lip gloss would have oils, colors and fragrances that may stick to the resin. I would recomend buying loose glitter instead. You can get little pots of glitter from the make up section, wet 'n wild even sells it. Any thing with oils of any kind is best avoided.
yes i was wondering this myself. what do you recommend to get the glitter to 'stick' to the resin initally before you seal it in?
Delta Ceramcoat, which is a brand of acrylic paint along the lines of FolkArt (cheap and available at WalMart), makes an iridescent medium with glitter in it. I haven't used it, but it was one of the things I took a look at when I needed a lip gloss for Chy. I would suggest trying it on something else before giving it a go on a doll, though, because the glitter seemed a bit sparse, and I wasn't sure if the clear portion was glossy, or just...clear. Which is why I didn't get it. ^^;
My Eurydice is always sparkly with glitter. I used wet n wild loose glitter shook out of a brush onto a thin layer of white school glue where I wanted the glitter. When it dries use the brush to dust off the excess and the glitter will have stayed only where you want it from the glue. And white school glue is water-soluable so it washes off with a bit of hot water. I don't think I've MSC-ed over any glitter though since I wanted it to not lose it's sheen.
