There is an old stone mansion nearby owned by the Church. The house is beautiful enough (and I'd love pictures in it), but they also have a large yard with one giant weeping willow at the center. It is incredibly stunning, and I'd love to do a shoot under its canopy.
There is a fish pond right near us and I love to go there for a walk -- with dolls or without them. The sunrises and sunsets there are exceptionally beautiful, but I'm not the only one who thinks so and lots of people come there too )
There's a pretty neat wet-crossing road by one of the local hospitals that I think would make a great twilight shooting place.
The woods behind my house is very mossy and pretty in certain parts, but the only way to get into it is down a steep and muddy hill that I'd be too afraid to try and take my dolls down Guess I'll just stick with my yard.
I live near a beautiful university campus. They have several gardens including an herb garden, statues, garden walls and huge gazing balls. Also near by are two parks with plenty of neat spots. When I do have my late white doll, I intend to bring her along on my photoshoots.
The Indianapolis Children's Museum has all of these really cool very well made concrete miniatures of famous buildings in front of it. It has pyramids! The Parthenon, the Eiffel tower....etc. They are in the 5 - 8 foot tall size range, and would be great to photograph dolls against. I live in the southern part of the state so I don't get up there very often, but one of these days I am going to do a major photo shoot there with the dollies.
Oooo! The botanical gardens near me! Or the bike trail through some trees! Those would make for great places~!
There are so many places there for our use as backdrops. Even a city street or near a fountain. If you have a camera with a a lens that has an f-stop below 5.6 (lower the better) you can blur the background using the lens. You can also use the low f-stop with fairy lights in the background to create a boken background. I too would be afraid of steep muddy hills. I am also a miniaturist so when I finally get my doll, I can put her in dollhouse situations.
There's a long trail leading to the mountains which runs through miles of farmland and woods and such, and it's along a river. Only thing is that it's a pretty popular biking and jogging trail too. But it's pretty deserted in winter, so maybe then I might be able to take some doll pictures there. In winter, with the snow, there's a lovely bleakness to it which'd suit a couple of my current and planned girls well.
I would really love to take photos in proper toy-only toy stores! I think it'd be really cute especially for the types of characters most of my dolls are. Unfortunately social anxiety gets in the way of me doing anything like that. I feel like I'd be able to, I'm just too scared of doing it haha! Sadly my backyard is awful. I usually end up making badly put together dioramas for backdrops xD
I live in Denver, so right next to mountains, where there are infinite beautiful areas that I'd love to take my dolls for pictures once they arrive. There's also a really nice botanical gardens here, so that'd be a nice place to do a photoshoot
