A minor distraction. (Tiny body)

Oct 22, 2011

    1. I got bored and decided to distract myself from my ongoing WIP and make something quick and care free.
Two days later I had a small tiny body to show for it. It's not finished, it doesn't stand yet, so I will be working on it more down the road; to make it stand and my own head, hands and feet. But for now, it's done, it was great fun and the perfect quick project/ distraction.
(All of these pictures are from my camera phone, I was just snapping some pics and loading them to Facebook while I was working on it.)

      Day 1 (Tuesday)
I built all her limbs on coffee straws and rolled up cardboard. Normally I don't work on plastic wrap; because the parts are so small and the clay is so thin I used plastic wrap to keep them from sticking to my work surface and being torn/ruined.

Beginning of the body/ body base.
Knees and elbows were built on plastic beads. torso cut into three pieces.
Chest built up, waist being shaped to the hips and a leg ready to be jointed.

Checking my work against my "plans".

Cleaned up for bed time. =P

      End of day 1.

Day 2 (Wednesday, I had work this day so didn't get to spend a full day on her.)

Shaping chest to waist, hips to legs, Building up arms/ shoulders.

Next to the PukiPuki for size comparison. =P (Not shown: I found that my first knee joints were too big and started new ones from smaller plastic beads.)
      Partially strung.

Strung with Puki head and feet.

      End of day 2.

Thursday I took her to Bok Tower Gardens, took a bunch of pictures and found out all the places that still need work.

    2. Eeeee! So cute! Now I wanna try to make a cute body for my (neglected) Puki!

    3. Mine was neglected too, the puki bodies are great posers for their size but not very exciting to look at. I love the Pipi face and just couldn't bring myself to part with her for a Little Fee.
I think I MIGHT be done buying dolls, now I just want to make them. :XD
Next I'll get her to stand and make my own head, hands and feet. :P

    4. wow, she is just so elegant and lovely. will the head you make be chibi-like, like this one is? or are you planning to make her a mini adult?

    5. ohhh cute! great idea!!!!!!!

    6. Thank you everyone! :D

Higgy, I don't know what I want to do with the head but I do know I want to make her hands long and slender and her feet small, about the size they are now, but with only three fingers, one thumb/four toes. The face will come to me later. I never draw the face because then I'll just obsess over making thesculpt just like the drawing. :p

    7. Ooh, she's like a sprite, so cute!! I love her proportions, even with the babyish puki face and feet it looks right.

    8. Oh gawsh, I just looooooove this body! :love :love
I must ask, do you have any plans to cast it? :x
      It's just so cute and delicate and~ >w< <3 <3 <3

    9. Perhaps once she's finished with all my own parts, I'll give that some more consideration. :p She would be cute in a blue or green similar to BambiCroni's (sp?), or in a somewhat translucent resin like French resin.... Now I wonder what colors French resin comes in. :XD

    10. [IMG] Working on hands for her. also began a base for her head. Tiny tiny little hands, so hard to sculpt. XD I also did some work on her elbows. =)

Just some pictures to update the thread. I've named her Tsula and even started her a brother, Van, the smiling faceplate. I finished her hands and feet and she stands...though I keep fiddling with her knees.
