A list of all doll conventions? (ask your, "is there a Doll Con in X?" questions here)

Sep 18, 2017

    1. Hi everyone! I'm new to the doll community and wanted to know if there was a comprehensive list of doll conventions/events (doesn't have to be limited to US). I've done extensive google searches, but there doesn't seem to be a decent list. Thanks so much :chibi

    2. Your best bet is watching the community threads. They usually are good about putting those in there.

    3. I was just thinking this last week when I was looking up Japanese conventions. If there's a place to make a wiki page, I'd be happy to construct a list for other collectors to use!

    4. Gonna make a actual calendar for it - anyone who wants to help, just follow the link :)
      https://teamup.com/ksntacbjv64x86xwi2

A real calendar is better than a wiki page, because that one has to be updated regularly to filter out events that are over. The Calender behind the link also offers different "sub calendars", like only for Asia or America that can be toggled on/off.

Edit: All conventions from DoA are added, added also a few from facebook. Maybe regular meetups could be added too?

    5. Anybody knows some events that I'm missing? There are a few asian cons like DollPaCa and Dollism Plus (difference to regular Dollism?) missing, but I couldn't find any dates for next year. I'm also putting in the LDoll 2018 at a temporary date (1st October 2018), since it will be held in 2018, but there aren't any infos yet exactly where and when it will be.

    6. You can see some upcoming major events in Japan from here: ドールイベントリスト
What a great idea! Much appriciated.

    8. And then, in case of BJD events in Korea...
for the next Doll Free Market (Seoul/Busan) : 인형행사 돌프리마켓에 오신것을 환영합니다.!
for the next Project Doll (Seoul) : Naver Blog Project Doll : ???̹? ???α?
They have some posts in English : Naver Blog Project Doll : ???̹? ???α?

The Dealer list of the upcoming Project Doll : Naver Blog Project Doll : ???̹? ???α?
(There will be some well-known dealers like El's Cat, EnchantedDoll, Bambicrony, Little Monica, WigMadam, etc.)

      Hope it helps! :)

    9. thanks @nemurenu :) Got ProjectDoll already, but added DollFree to the calendar too.

    10. Dollism Plus and Dollvie are different event hosted by different parties.
Coming Dollism Plus: 26 Nov 2017

    11. Thanks for that calendar list. I'll have to try making one for all the other doll collectingconventions. I currently use Pintrest, which is fine, but it doesn't re-arrange them by date or anything, just when I upload them, so that's been annoying me for the past few years.

I'll try to add the BJD events I'm missing that have a pinnable image to my yearly Pintrest board for doll collecting conventions.

    12. You boards are nice, but they're mostly fashion doll/barbie conventions if I'm seeing that right? So not specific BJD Cons, but more doll Cons in general (Afew of them are in the calendar already, like the PNW Expo or Dollpa).
You could make a calendar with thesem but I'd like to not mix them all up in one calendar - unless people want it al meshed together?

    13. I will keep my eyes open for any BJD Conventions and I find any I will be more than happy to add them to the list.

    14. Super awesome I was just looking for info on these ! Now I can start planning a trip for one that’s gonna be close to me , thanks so much for putting it together!

    15. Just added a few cons to the calendar!

    16. Added two more French cons to the calendar ^^

    17. Awesome. Thanks everyone. There's one only a day's drive, and while I have time off no less. My daughter will be thrilled.

    18. This is awesome. Thanks for putting it together.

    19. also looking for that~
      thanks

    20. Sigh. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to travel around the world visiting one doll convention after another?

    21. If someone could help me out finding the japanese/chinese/korean events this year then I'd gladly update it :)

    22. How do one find out the dates of the autumn doll events in Tokyo and Seoul in 2018? Do you know of any sites at all that will have info? I found your calender very useful, not sure where to go to find info about events now... :(

    23. I'Ve mostly just clicked through the links posted in this thread - I can't speak korean, chinese or japanese, so I'm mostly going by pictures (like the next project doll dates from here: Project Doll : 네이버 블로그)

    24. I can read japanese, but the Bjd community here mostly uses twitter to organize everything, and I don’t have it. I’ll try snooping around though!

    25. @meanae @ourtangledbones Oh I hope the calender will be updated with more events- I've been Google' searching trying to find dates for upcoming events, but with not much luck so far... ><

    26. Hello! I’ve updated the calendar with some Asian cons in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Thailand & Malaysia.

I’m afraid I’ve missed out on the timing (11am - 4pm) & homepage URL for Project Doll, could I trouble you to edit my post please?

Project Doll English Event Page: 10th ProjectDoll - Paticipation Guide for Dealers

Update: I just saw they’ve got 2 dates up for 30th Sep this year and 5th Jan 2019 on 기본 레이아웃 but nothing detailed yet. Not sure if you want them added in?

    27. Seems the Doll Free Market in Korea happens several times a year in Kyungki, Seoul and Busan. Upcoming dates are all next month but I imagine they'll have a few more lined up later in the year. Maybe wait for more dates & see if it'll line up with the Project Doll con in Sep?

I suggest bookmarking this website for updates.

Sorry I couldn't help more, I can't read Korean haha :sweat

    28. @shiroiku Thank you so much for the link! It will bookmark it for sure :3

    29. Thanks for the links! I'll see that I edit/add everything in the next days <3

    30. Thanks for the other doll free market site, the doll free.com site needs updating.

    31. Hi there! Having a proper calendar is a really great idea. I was also wondering if there could be a map or at least a country-sorted lists?

      • x 1
    32. I think this is an awesome idea. Or at least continent sorted. I think Europe is small enough to visit different countries. :)

    33. the current calendar is continent sorted ;)

    34. Oh yes! Thanks, I did not notice !

    35. Just added seven cons from Japan to the list! I'll keep the iDoll shows updated each season :3
I'll also post smaller events as I come across them

    38. Thank you for adding our event on the calendar :love

    39. you're a hero

    40. Any doll conventions around there? There was one in NJ I believe in September but I wasn’t able to make it.

      Any help would be appreciated!

    41. I’m not sure the answer to your question, but I’ve kind of given up on seeing a convention nearby. On a similar note, could anyone suggest the best and biggest cons in the US/Canada that would be worth flying out for? Thanks!

    42. I haven't heard of any but I wanted to add a voice here. I'm also looking for something near MD/DC/DE. Maybe eventually we can encounter enough interested parties to make something happen...?

      • x 1
    43. well there was one in NJ but i missed it :(

    44. Not a doll convention but I’m at animenyc this weekend and Danny Choo from Smart Doll and the Dollfie Dream folks are here :) And they have special con deals too!

    45. Oooh which one in NJ? Maybe it'll happen next year.

    46. Oh I just missed that by like 2 days! But thanks for sharing - I'll add it to my list of things to watch for. Appreciate it!

    47. No problem! Danny has confirmed that he will be back to AnimeNYC next year ^^ I don't know about Dollfie, though!

    48. I would love to know as well! It seems my best chance is to fly out to France for LDoll next year ;A;

    49. It would be awesome if they had a convention in the DC/MD/VA area. I'd totally try to attend!

    50. Is anyone planning on going to MAGfest in January? I know it isn't about dolls, but I have a group of friends that attend every year. If there were doll friends attending maybe we could find time to meet up?

    51. I thought there were a few cons in California? and if I'm not mistaken there use to be an Atlanta one as well...no clue how to search for BJD cons either, nothing much comes up in google search unless you know what specific con your looking for.

Edit ok scratch that when I googled BJD convention I found these: Not sure how to update the calendar so I'll leave that to someone else..lol

St Louis 2019 St. Louis BJD Convention
      Austin Austin BJDC
      Anime/Doll North Canada: Doll North
Looks like San Diego one is usually in December but I can't find any info for 2019

Atlanta one is no longer going on...we need some on the East Coast..lol

    55. The only doll convention I've gone to was Dollism in Buffalo, NY a while back...but I doubt there will be another one. There is Nekocon, in Hampton Roads VA that has bjd exclusive events and a lot of panels. Other than that there are the meetups that usually are planned for Katsucon and Otakon....and the Trunk Shows that happen at Fabric Friends and Dolls (I guess you can say they're seasonal.. :/ ). Umm....Katsucon would be the next one coming up, but I'm not certain who's planning the meetup this year. I'm unfortunately not able to make it this year, but hopefully there will be some information posted somewhere soon..
As for conventions in other states, that I know of, there's Doll A-kon and Austin BJD in Texas, PNW Bjd Expo in Seattle, ....I'm sure there's another one that I can't remember. -_- If I do I will comment on it . ^^

    56. ....oh..and the Atlanta BJD Retreat. I believe they mostly post information for it on Facebook though....and it's still in the works for this year.

    58. Hi Bocchan,

I saw that there will be a doll prom in Cuyahoga Falls, OH on April 27th. More info here:
      https://bjdprom.wixsite.com/dollprom2019

I am considering going - it sounds fun! I live in Northwestern PA (between Erie and Pittsburgh). I have been considering hosting a meetup but am not sure if there would be anyone interested in coming. If I hear of any other events I will share them with you.:3nodding:

    59. As far as I know, we don't have any doll conventions in Ohio, just meetups sometimes. I sure wish we did, though.
