Hello to everyone. I used to think that self-introduction was unnecessary. But getting encouragement from the community may be a link for me to rediscover my love for bjds. Hope I haven't brought you negative feelings. And, one question need help: Can I use non-English to organize my doll profiles? I know that the theme of DOA is to encourage friendly communication, but I prefer to build my bjd electronic archives rather than show it to others.
Hello @gezijing welcome! If you check the rules you will find the answer, that this forum is English based. So if you write a lot of non English content I'm sure it will get removed. It's not really good etiquette either, to bog down the forum with only your own private archives instead of the community aspect. Hopefully you will find a lot to enjoy about the community though. There is plenty of information to learn and you can of course share your own and others' joys in shared aspects of this broad hobby. You can't delete your own posts either, you can request it in Ask the Moderators under the help tab.
Thank you. Now I know... "Doll file" is a part of our forum. It still follows the rules of "English based" instead of private space. I'll read the rules again to make sure I can completely understand it. Maybe I'm better suited to watch others discuss at first.
gezijing, I feel your pain relating to the language for your doll profile. {} I often consult my info here when I need a quick reminder about my doll details. Hopefully Google translate will not fail you. And I guess you'll need a private file to refer to as well? Anyway, thanks for joining the community. There's lots to share & learn here (as long as the google translate is satisfactory) What dolls & aspects of the hobby do you enjoy?
I think a lot of people have trouble settling in at first or feel unsure how to interact, so you are not alone! Not sure if it applies to you, but there are also many people here who do not use English as their first or preferred language in life, and use things like translation software to interact. Most everyone is going to be pretty nice and supportive and if they say mean things instead, that's actually against the rules too. If you want to post your doll profiles they show up on the front page after they are created and others can admire them. it's a fun and easy way to put yourself out there. You can also connect with other people who are not very experienced with this forum yet in Newbieland. Or you can check out General Discussion topics and have fun writing and reading answers to all kinds of interesting questions people ask each other about different parts of the hobby. Anyway I hope you have fun!
Yes... I try to organize language by myself as possible, then check it with Google Translate. Before coming here, I never thought that this language (only exist in school) can be really used. The strange slang on social media make me worse. By comparison, our forum is easier to understand. Everything will be fine. Thank you, thank you all. As for the question 'What dolls & aspects of the hobby', I guess it means the size and appearance of my dolls? I prefer the appearance and mature posture of large bjds, but they are too big, so now I have 3 heads without body. They are incomplete, sometimes it makes me guilty... Tinny dolls are more convenient to pose, I can't resist the charm of my lovely girls~
Thank you for your reply! Now I am no longer controlled by embarrassment and depression. An unforgettable start.
For me I decided any doll over 68cm was too big. A couple of my boys had to go on different bodies to achieve this. 58-60cm are my favorite size. And I resolved to have no small dolls. Sold my msd dolls to clear space. Only to begin a family of dolls where the children are between 31 & 60 cm!?!? But I love them all so I have adjusted. ;D Studying information & photos to understand which resin will match which head, and then will the body proportions work, and will the neck fit required lots of study. And also led to acquiring more dolls as I'd fall in love with some in my studies. Good luck with finding bodies for your heads!
Thank you for your wishes~ Couldn't agree more. Too much to learn. One of them is IMPL's Sicily. And IMPL is preparing a new 60+body, so maybe I will have a complete large bjd this year!
