Wearables A Great Big List of Things I'm Going to do....

May 22, 2022

    1. Well....let's get in to it.

      (Main Quest)

      Naran:

      • Create a pin-able dress form for Naran
        • Need: Expanding foam, Spray adhesive, Fabric.
      • Start work of ears, cuffs, and tail of the playboy bunny fit
        • Need: Fuzzy white fabric, Possibly cotton balls, Buttons (wrist cuffs).
      • Start work on the body suit.
      Kaede:
      • Draw up design of the outfit. (blouse, vest, shorts, socks possibly)
      • Create a pin-able dress form for Kaede. (optional? I think I could honestly just buy one he's pretty standard MSD size)
(Side Quests, that should be main quests.....but...aha)

      • Go to craft store
        • Buy cutting mat
        • Buy rotary Cutter
        • Peruse the fabrics and notions
        • Possibly buy spray adhesive and expanding foam....might have to go to a second craft store
      • Clean Desk (to put cutting mat on)
      • Watch a billion YouTube videos on pattern drafting.
      • Paint the bottom of Naran's new heels red! ;_; she deserves to be bougie!
In hind sight....not that big of a list....I'll be updating with progress pictures and drawings, and when the time comes I'll be adding a 3rd doll to this list! There's going to be wig styling and a whole lot of sewing in my- hopefully near future....

    2. I have drawn what I'm gonna do!

So basically--- I've always put Kaede in dresses and he'll probably gain more dresses in the future but- I wanted him to have something more boyish and kind of ouji style. Which uh-- literally brought me back to the source material that got me into BJDs in the first place, Kuroshitsuji, 100% definitely a modified version of what Alois wore-- however in all black. I'll definitely have to do some research into how to draft a vest...I'm a little further on the shorts though and I have a few tutorials at the ready.

In Naran's case I just-- bunny girl, need I say more? jk yeah actually I do have more to say! I! Absolutely! Love! Zelda Wynn Valdes' work! Like...literally fashions greatest icon I'll die on this hill (politely) I wish I had known about her sooner-- but--- Literally this fit is one of my all time favorites, it is literally the definition of Iconic. So far I have the tights and heels, I may buy a white/"nude" pair to paint to match the orange of the fabric I decided on to be a bit more accurate. I don't have the fabric for that jacket (it will probably be pushed off to the very end because the only references I have of it so far are GIFS :( )

here's a image of the fabric I plan to use for said body suit/ears[IMG]
It's vintage I got it at some famous local architects estate sale (ah...I know his name, he designed the airport and the science center..I think...) I don't have that much of it, and it might be a little too thick for the scale, but I think I can make it work if I'm careful.

Anyways things I accomplished today were
      • Get a cutting mat/ rotary cutter
don't know if they'll be useful, but I have em' now!

    3. Love this fabric, looking forward!

    4. Wow, you're moving forward at a good pace. :D

So....I've made patterns for the ears, band, cuffs, and collar o-o' I'm no professional so they aren't the best but shape wise they're close enough for me.

;_; I'm too scared to take on the pinable dress forms but it's needed for the next part.....

I'm probably just going to go ahead with the mock up version and then the final version as like a lil warm up...

    6. YOU THOUGHT YOU SAW THE LAST OF ME!!! YOU THOUGHT WRONG!!!

haha yeah anyways I kind of ditched the idea of a pinnable dress form, for now at least, I have been messing with a pattern I either...made by watching a video or found online somewhere..at the moment I'm not entirely sure-- as, you know, its been like 5...6 months at this point-- but I ran into the same problem I had when making her corset top, the pattern was somehow ending up way too big even though it was made either...

      A) on her or B) with her measurements

I'll probably realize why eventually, but today I just committed to pinning it till it fit...AND GUESS WHAT
      IT WOOOOOOOORKED AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
      [IMG]

excuse the garbo lighting, and the absolute amount of things in the background--- I cleaned the suit up a but and its like!!! it looks decent! I think for the outer layer-- I decided to line it...so...technically speaking the mockup is going to end up being the liner to it once I switch out the thread for white...clean it...and find another zipper-- is going to have the middle seam like the real outfit does
:> I'll probably use embroydery floss or some sort of ribbon for the small side bows and I have no clue how to make a rosette but! I'll figure it out!

that's it, that's the update, I found some really cute blue and grey small print plaid that seems like it would be a good scale for a little suit...I'll get pictures of it tomorrow...

edit: I used this tutorial! Playboy Bunny - Full Costume
