Hello everyone! New project journal! I know I already have one that I'm supposed to work on (for a customization challenge that ends on 30th November) but it's so rainy those days that I am a little stuck in all that is makeup, tattoos, blush... I love this month >_< So! I got a newcomer lately. A Napalmdoll Puppy. Only 35cm, while I prefer 60cm+ dolls. I fall in love with this little guy when he was a prototype, and couldn't resist to his first preorder earlier this year. I decided he will take the character of my former Otherside Kobalt, a gnome in my steampunk crew, named Eol. But he needs everything! As I said, I prefer 60cm+ dolls and I have NOTHING for him. Not even eyes. Here is he: And here is the former Eol (yeah she was a girl) : What I'd like to do on him: wig (complete) faceup (complete) tattoos (on arms) blush manicure + pedicure (manicure complete) outfit #1 (complete) outfit #2 (complete for now) outfit #3 (in progress) I can't do his aesthetics yet, but that gives me time to think about it. I want to keep some features from his previous self, I just don't know which ones (aside the reddish nose, that I find so cute). Currently I began a first outfit. I haven't make sketch for it, and I don't really know where I'm going . I sewed pants, in the same fabrics that the former Eol (that had an outfit made by a talented seamstress. I will do my best but it won't be as much detailed than the previous outfit). Here are the pants ( I should have ironed the fabrics before sewing and now it's too late ): Then I began a tunic. Will I keep it without sleeves, I don't know. The tunic isn't finished, it miss beads in the back, and sleeves or a quick sewing at the shoulders. After that, I thought a belt would be nice. I wanted to try something decorative, so I look at a tuto on youtube for a macrame belt, but an easy one for beginners. I never did macrame in my whole life, it was my first attempt . I used two colors of thread because I didn't have enough of each color. Here is the belt in progress: And done and weared by my little guy: That's all for the moment! I'd like to make a sleeveless jacket or coat, but I need to find which fabric to use. Currently all the fabrics and threads used are scraps. That's the advantage of a little doll XD Thank you for looking!
I love his tunic! Somehow reminds me of an FOB album ~ I love him and I agree with having the red nose too and the face paints and possibly the fur vest! Following this thread! Thanks for sharing
Yay, new project! I think you've done a great job so far and I can't wait to see what you will make for this one. He's a lovely little doll and it looks like he is quite a flexible poser.
Thank you! Yeah for face paints and fur vest! It will be more simple (the fur vest) but I would love to make one for him. Thanks a lot! Haha yes, new projet. Again. He is a flexible poser, it's incredible! I'm used to SD size dolls that pose like sticks, so this tiny guy that can take a lot of poses, it's so amazing. Of course it's easier for a small doll to be correctly balanced, but he is really well thought out even for a little BJD. Yesterday was my day off, and I went crazy. I decided to make brazilian bracelets for my Puppy. At his scale. Someone must have dropped me on the head when I was little, cause that was the craziest decision I ever made in doll stuff making! It took me a couple of hours per bracelets, and I made two so far. I'd like to make a third in other colors for this outfit, and that will be enough ^^'
Oh my gosh, those bracelets! They're amazing and I love them. Awesome project so far - that's a beautiful doll and sculpt, and I'm loving the aesthetic! Can't wait to see more. (I'm also always a sucker for DnD character shelling projects haha)
Thank you @Harmony909 ! In fact he is not really a DnD character, but I can see why you think he was one ^_^ This evening I worked on a short jacket (with false fur, yeah!). It is as unfinished than the tunic. The embroidery in the back is not complete.
Oh oops, my bad haha! Sorry about that. I think something about "steampunk crew" planted the thought in my head. Regardless, I'm excited to follow along and love his design (and general aesthetic) so far!
No problem, and thank you for your enthusiasm! First outfit is finished! I also begin his wigcap. I hope to begin the wig itself soon!
The detail with the beading and bracelets looks amazing! I'm looking forward to seeing him with a wig and faceup!
Thank you so much! Wig is done now, but he will need to wait a little for faceup and other aesthetics ^^'. Weather is not good currently, that slows me down (especially for commissions >_<). That's why he gots his outfit and wig so quickly, btw. Thank you very much! No pictures of the wig in progress, so here is the final result: Next will be all the aesthetics I want to do on him. But when will I have the time and weather to paint him, I don't know! I also bought him eyes recently, I'm so impatient to get them! ^_^
Awesome progress! Love the finished outfit and the wig (especially the white streak). I'm assuming it's a hardcap wig with glued wefts?
Thank you @Harmony909 ! It's a wig cap made out of liquid latex (and thin tulle) and the wefts are glued with latex too. So it's not totally rigid, but it's not elastic either.
Quick news before the end of the year! I began his faceup (and manicure, but no pictures of the hands yet) :
The wig and the faceup are so lovely~! I love the skin texture on the faceup! He's going to look so amazing when he's done!!
Thank you @Ankka ! Little up on this thread : my Puppy finally got his eyes! Thank you again @dm_sof ^_^ And I decided to let his faceup this way, without eyebrows. I asked three friends if I needed to add some (I was unsure, I've no dolls without brows) and all the three told me to keep him like he is. I will only add some gloss, later.
He looks amazing! I agree he doesn't need brows, I didn't even realize he had none until I read the text. And those hands! This is such a cool project!
Thank you very much! Thanks! I still need to blush his bust and feet. ^_^ Second outfit in progress: Thank you for looking!
Still in progress: I have shorten the sleeves and added false fur at their bottom since this picture. Now I have the jewelry to make.
Here is second outfit, minus the jewelry. But I don't know what to do yet, so it is finished for now.
I've started a new outfit for Eol! The third in less than a year. He is a lucky little guy XD I'd like to sew beige pants, and craft him belt, jewelry and rope sandals. Also the tunic is unfinished, I still have some hems to sew.
Continuing his new outfit. by Follow-the-Wind Now I have all the accessories left to do (jewelry, a new macrame belt, the sandals).
This is a really cool project! I love how intricate all of his outfits are. The beaded jewelry looks amazing too. What a fashionable guy!
New Thank you so much! And sorry for the late reply! Thanks a lot! Here are the pics of a new outfit for Eol! I was in holiday this week and sewed a new tunic and pants (the jacket is the same than previous uncompleted outfit): I have no photos of the outfit in progress, sorry ^^'
New Thank you @castironteapot ! Now I try to play with textures on my outfits, aside kimono outfits. But those fabrics are often harder to sew (to handsew at least).
