    1. http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/catalog/product/view/id/6964/s/instant-mold/category/173/ got pointed to this a while back. I haven't had the chance to use it, but I have some... mine isn't this exact brand, i found mine at a japanese dollar store(ichiban) ironically.

It's obviously not something you're going to be able to cast a huge amount of things from or really accurate fiddly shapes. However, if you just want a quick and dirty cast of one of your parts, or just to see what your part will look like in resin- it seems like a good product. I like to see a face in resin and paint it before I commit to the final sculpt, and this stuff is a lot cheaper than the two part silicon putty i've been using for quick casts.

My husband used to play Warhammer 20k, and I learned to work with the green stuff. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat470007a&prodId=prod1095494

Green stuff is a two part epoxy putty that is more elastic in the end than the Apoxy Sculpt that most doll sculptors use. It's more expensive too... it's great for modding action figures tho.

However now they have "Liquid Green Stuff"

I just bought some the other day and started patching up fine lines and holes on the Turian head I've been making as well as a mini boy head i was working on. I'll let you know how it goes.

    2. I have heard of InstaMold, but have never tried it nor know someone who has it. I used to do Warhammer, so I am a bit familiar with the green stuff and the new liquid green stuff. I was wondering what to use to patch up some minor dinks and holes on my resin head sculpt so that I can use it as a prototype for a production mold. Is liquid green stuff epoxy? Or what is it exactly? When applying liquid green stuff to resin, does it have a good texture that blends with the resin when sanded?

You probably don't know the answer for that, but just curious. If I find someone who has it I will be sure to try it out.

Something else I found to be an interesting product are various types of moldable plastics that can be melted and reused. Such as InstaMorph. Seems like InstaMold... ?

    3. I have a jananese brand, Oyumaru, that work like InstaMold. I have to say that I like it very much. It take small details and I can use it again, I use to make mold of small dolls and parts.

The green stuff is interesting make me remember a green material that is used on japan to make action figures (morimori or something like that). Will lurk here to know more.

    4. That instamorph stuff sounds really nifty!
I might add that to my next list of things to buy on amazon along with a ton mre beeswax!
