As promised: the doll couple by the Aqueduct de Ferreres aka the Devil's Bridge next to Tarragona, Spain. The photos with the dolls were taken from the parking place. I did go nearer and took more photos but without them. The path was rocky and slippery, I'm happy I managed just by myself without falling. Wow!!! These photos are gorgeous and their outfits are so wonderful! I love that you dressed them up for the location. That's so fun!!
An impressive building! But a strange name for such an architectural masterpiece. An excellent place for breathtakingly beautiful pictures. The wonderful garments are now also shown to their full advantage. Adam's trousers are a creative sewing project and an interesting detail for his "armor". Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you everybody!!! Strictly speaking the aqueduct is Roman, the outfits vaguely medieval. Which gives me the idea that I really should make them also some Roman togas or something, after all in our part of Europe there's so many Roman sites for them to visit. Closest villa is about 1/2 hours drive from home. So delighted to get out of their transport boxes! IIRC the name comes from a notion that there must be some super natural help in building such a structure. Also there's a stream at the bottom of the valley that's called Barranc del Diable - Devil's river. Which gave the name to the other? Note that I saw other Barranc del Diable along the way, so it's a popular name for unruly streams. I didn't take too many outfits for the dolls, the ratio is 1 box for them, 2 for me, 3 for hubby. But I should do the Cloak and dagger/Robin Hood and Damsel in distress trope photos. That's where the trousers were intended for. The garments keep improving, for example I just added more beads to the veil. And Eve will have new jewellery.
I think the clothing turned out really well already! Perfect choice of fabrics, especially for Eve. Very nicely soft drape - ideal for the scale. I'm still practicing. My biggest problem is that the Bernette sewing machine doesn't have an adjustment for the presser foot pressure.
Oh, thank you! The fabrics are my hubby's old t-shirts. He had chosen them well. Well washed so there's hope the colour will not stain the dolls. I also have a Bernette. IDK I just sew and don't worry about pressure. What does irk me is that it skips a stitch if I go too fast. My old Singer knockoff went like a machine gun. But on the other hand doll clothes are so small that you don't really get the long fast seams.
I'm familiar with this phenomenon too :-| Most often, the tension of the bobbin thread is too tight. Or the sewing thread isn't suitable for the fabric and needle. This doesn't seem to be the Bernette's strong suit. And thank you very much for the information about the naming with the devil there in Spain.
