Gem of Doll Coraline is not my usual aesthetic, but I recently had an idea for a mermaid-themed doll project. I requested the company to change her default tail color to orange ("koi color" in their listing), and they agreed! Wig and eyes only temporary. I am honestly not sure if 40-49cm dolls is the right category. Coraline is technically 1/4 scale, but her lovely tail easily tips her length to 1/3.
1/4 is still correct though, because scale describes how things are proportioned and compare to other things , not just total lenght. She looks strange next to 1/3 dolls because the proportions are different. 1/3 props won't work for the same reasons. Souce: I have one, too. Plus, if you take off the tail and put on her human parts (if you have them) she's like any other Gem 1/4 doll. I'm very sad that I didn't see all the color variants of the tail (Alice's Collections did not list them and it didn't occur to me to check elsewhere) because the orange is beautiful. I'm thinking about airbrushing some transparent orange on my pink tail to get a peachy color, maybe.
I'm really curious to see what you're going to do with her. As you said, she's quite different from your other crew. Looking forward to the final result!
Thank you, everyone! Also, @EagleVision1999 it did take some digging on my part to discover Gem of Doll's separate listing for the mermaid body (although I ordered mine from a different official channel other than their website). The solid white tail looked charming in its own right.
