I recently watched Netflix's "Over the Moon" and their portrayal of Chang'e, the Chinese moon goddess, was amazing. It makes me want to look for something similar in bjds. I did a search for bjds in kimonos and Chang'e bjds, but they're mostly displayed in white kimonos. I'd definitely love something in the more traditional red.
Are you looking for the outfit or the doll itself? If you are looking for a doll with a similar aesthetic I would recommend one of the older line of telethesia 1/4 dolls. Ji-Telesthiadoll - stacyspinkocean.com Huan-Telesthesiadoll - stacyspinkocean.com
I'm sure you can find a talented seamstress to reproduce the kimono fairly well - there are a lot of them! And I'll bet that SophyMolly could make a really good stab at reproducing the wig (at least, she's my go-to for unusual styles). I would think the greater challenge would be finding a sculpt that looks like her - although @Merla's Huan suggestion definitely has similarly overstated eyes. Just as an FYI, you don't have to post this kind of thing in Brigadoon - you can post it in the main forum, probably best under the Workshop's 'Visual Concepts' subforum, and using the 'Shelling Characters' tag. Good luck - she looks like she'd make an amazing bjd!
Kimono are a Japanese garment, and they are not traditionally red. That is a hanfu. You'll get more results if you search for the correct term :>
Thank you, everyone, I'll check these all out! Oops, you're right. I don't want to go too big, preferably around 30-38 cm. Currently I'm looking at FairyLand MiniFee Moe Line with Sylvia (w/makeup) head and Moe Line body and Glamour Bust (it's the smaller of the two available). Just have to see if anyone makes a hanfu for that kind of doll.
Hanfu can be found in many colours for that size on Taobao under the search term 古装. If you'd be willing to go slightly smaller like Asleep Eidolons mature minis (27cm in height) you can actually fit most hanfu for barbies on them!
I ended up going with a FairyLand MiniFee Celine, which is bigger than I intended but works for the scale of my PukiFee and LittleFee.
I love that movie. I can't recall very well, but the movie was about a Chinese myth wasn't it? Then that wouldn't be a kimono, so maybe you can look up on some Chinese artists to recreate you that dress. If you want it exactly like that dress in the photo you can get it commissioned. I've seen a few people on Instagram make beautiful outfits that were commissioned.
