Event 9th Annual San Diego BJD Con 2017 -- "Opulent Orient" theme

The 9th Annual San Diego BJD Con was held on the 9th of December, 10am to 5pm, Saturday. The Theme was "Opulent Orient."

There was one large main room with the large dioramas that this con is known for making: a large Torii Gate, ricepaper screens, Buddhist Temple, Teahouse (small and large), Sand Garden, Moon bridge with rocks and waterfall background, elephant with palanquin.

There were also tables to sit at and display dolls, and also a section for sellers tables.

There was a smaller room for snacks and drinks and for the panels.

There is always a fantastic Costume Contest, with many amazing costumes--it's always an impressive thing to see. First prize this year was a doll! There are give-aways and door-prizes (also including a doll!). Great vendors. Talks included Bo Bergemann with a presentation on her new American Sign Language dolls, and Galina Schoettger of GGDoll Fashions who talked about parts and proper way to wear Asian clothing, and How to make Dioramas with the SDBJDCon crew.

Lots of amazing dolls and outfits, in the Contest and just sitting at tables or in the dioramas--with outfits from all over Asia...

It was a great time!

I was having problems uploading my photos from my camera... I tried Flickr, but Flickr totally rejected my photos! Then went with Imgur... I still can't figure out how to get photos off my phone... I've done it before, but somehow my computer wasn't recognizing my phone at all! --So yeah, I hear you on the posting photos problem!

I love seeing photos of events I can't be at, myself, so I totally understand! There's always so much great visuals at this con, between the numbers of dolls all dressed up and the dioramas. I love seeing photos of it.
