The faceup on the second picture is my own and it was on a blank/new Red head. I still have the Special Red head, don't worry.

When I originally adopted Red, I had in mind for him to be Zekke, my 'master muse' who figuratively gave birth to many different versions of himself in many different stories. Sometimes, I see 'Zekke', but lately, I've been seeing one of his other versions of himself more often than not, so I think maybe Red will end up being an incarnation of a version of Zekke, named Yin-Xian. If he resettles back into 'Zekke', I'll change the info, but I'm pretty certain Yin's here to stay.

Demetrius Folcwine is an only child. His father was an English literature professor. Demetrius' mother died at his birth, so he was raised by his father alone. His father never remarried. Demetrius was a quiet studious child, and he learned how to read even before he went to school. He would spend the afternoons after school in his father's university classrooms, either listening to all that went on, or reading his own books. He had very few friends. Other children found him odd, because he would sometimes speak in archaic forms of English that he had read in books or heard in his father's classes. Otherwise, his childhood was uneventful.

His father, Thomas, loved him dearly. They lived together in a townhouse with Thomas' widowed elder sister-in-law, Bridey, who was also their housekeeper. Thomas was very conscious of his son's isolation and tried, during family vacations, to expand his son's horizons. They would travel to Europe together, and often went to the United Kingdom where Thomas would show Demetrius the places they had read about in books. Demetrius loved to see the different places come to life and often felt that he belonged there... but they would always have to return home, back to their scholarly life in the United States.

Thomas worked hard to provide for his son. He often feared that Demetrius was too introspective and lonely. Thomas carefully put as much money as he could spare into a trust fund for his son. And it turned out that his foresight was indeed necessary -- because when Demetrius was eighteen, Thomas died unexpectedly from an infection due to a sudden bout with pneumonia at the age of fifty two.

Demetrius was devastated. His father was the center of his entire world. He had planned to go on to college and follow in his father's footsteps, to become an educator. But something had snapped inside Demetrius and seemed to be permanently broken. The quiet, reclusive boy retreated even further into himself -- and Bridey, the only person left in his life, felt that there was nothing more she could do to help him. So life went on in the townhouse, a shadowy semblance of what it was before. Bridey went through the motions of cooking, cleaning and maintenance... and Demetrius never left the house.

Then one day... he came out into the kitchen where Bridey was working -- and something was different about him. He seemed taller, stronger. There was a glint in his eye and a wry smile on his face that she had never seen before. The transformation was so striking that for a moment she thought he was a stranger. "Who are you?" he asked her. "Why, I'm your Auntie Bridey, Demetrius, don't be foolish," she replied. "Demetrius?" he laughed. "Now who's the fool? If you're truly my auntie, don't you know your own nephew, Glorfindel?" He sat down at the table and demanded to know where he was. He declared that he had been sleeping for a long while and something had finally prompted him to wake up, though he didn't know what it was. Bridey was in shock over this new development, and once Glorfindel decided he was going out into the strange new world that had evolved while he was sleeping, she immediately called the family doctor for a recommendation to get help for Demetrius.

Demetrius was eventually diagnosed with dissociative personality disorder, the onset of which was caused by his father's sudden death. He (and Glorfindel) continued to live at home with Bridey. She was soon able to easily distinguish between the two facets of Demetrius' personality and could address them properly at first sight. However, Demetrius' plans to attend college were now derailed. He was able to obtain a job at the university bookstore, but could not attend classes because the memory of his father distressed him too much. He continues to have treatment for his disorder, and has made some progress... but he finds that his life as Demetrius continues to be difficult without his father's guidance.

And as for Glorfindel... he is determined to find others of his kind who have adapted to the modern world.
