I’m trying to figure out if it’s possible to scale down my 75cm bjd heads onto 70cm bjd bodies. I was wondering if people would be able to send pictures of 75cm heads on smaller bodies so that I could get a size comparison.
Which heads do you have? There's a wide range of head sizes for dolls of the same height, so it might help your search to know the sculpts. ^^
Really depends on the heads and the bodies you have in mind. A lot of it for me depends on proportions and if the neck fits. The main issue I’ve had with 75cm on 70cm is that the neck/shoulders don’t fit.
In general the answer is going to be no. As DemonMiko pointed out your biggest obstacle is going to be neck size. The vast majority of 75cm heads are meant for bodies with 12-13cm necks. Most 70cm bodies top out at 11cm. The heads are also usually bigger in general (there are some exceptions of course) with a 22-23cm head circumference, and they tend to have longer faces then their 70cm counter-parts. Devotion Doll Bite has a 23cm head circumference, and a 13cm neck. I couldn't find the measurement for Cyaoo's Doggy, but the only 70cm body I could potentially see any of the 75cm heads looking good on is the LLT Ballerino body, which has a 12.5cm neck and 17cm shoulders. But, it's not an easy body to come by.
When I had him, Doggy/Goujuan also fit really well on the body with a 13cm neck. Measurement wise, he was similar to my Bite I saw measurements for Dollits DAD70 and that might work. It’s like a 75cm body but with shorter legs. Not sure of neck size so let me see if I can find them. Vings 70 also has an option for 12cm neck whenever they open for orders but the body might be too skinny overall depending on the vibe you want.
Thank you all for the feedback and info. I needed some other input than my own opinion for figuring out if it was possible.
When I get home today, I can try my Bite on a 11.7cm neck to see if the 12cm might work. It’s probably possible if the shoulders are also proportional. But as Cloudedmind mentioned, most of the 70cm top out with 12cm necks.
The Soom Megagem body has a neck which fits Idealian heads and is 68cm. When compared with that physique style of bodies nowadays it looks very short and stocky though. Soom do not produce this body anymore I think (feel free for anyone to correct me), but you may find one second hand for a reasonable price.
There's a couple bodies other than Mega Gem with similar proportions; I've got one on order for a larger doll head at the moment, actually. Impldoll Star and Idol male bodies have 12/12.5cm necks, and stockier proportions. Also, Iplehouse EID bodies fit 13cm neck hole heads perfectly and are shorter. (You can go down to SID if you want smaller and are okay with a little gapping.) But if you want a lankier look, yeah, you'll have to go taller to get a neck and shoulders that in proportions that don't look off.
I have Bite and he fits perfectly on my Ring Doll Hua Cheng's body (RGM-5, measures to about 77cm) I don't have the head with me so I can't post a picture, but I did once try Bite on my DF-A 68cm body and was way too big of a difference. The shoulders were way too small.
I was actually looking at the Ring Doll bodies. I was a little confused by the measurements of the RGM-5 body measurements. On the website it says they stand 66cm excluding the head, but you mention it measuring 77. Is the base height of the RGM-5 body 70cm?
The measurements on Ring Doll's site are always confusing. Like for example is says the shoulder width is 16cm which it most certainly is not... Just from eyeballing it I'd say his shoulders are closer to 20cm, so they might be measuring without the arms. Anyway, the body is advertised as 75cm with the head, but I find most bodies end up being a little taller than the companies say. If you look at the new Hua Cheng's listing acbjd, it does say 77cm! The heads are quite large so it wouldn't shock me if the body was 66cm without a head and 77cm with one. Here's a photo of Bite on my RGM-5 that I found!
