I am searching a pattern for pants that fit a male SD, but I don’t find any stangely. Do you have one to share? Every style is fine, but I would prefer something fit more than pijama pants (but those are fine too if there is nothing else)
You can do a sarouelle easily. This is the Moroccan traditional trouser. Do you feel confident to draw your own pattern? Sarouelle pattern: Note that these have no side seam. Hint: make it in scrap fabric first to see if it fits, then use the fashion fabric. Plan 1/4 inch seam allowance. Measure the waist. Measure the hips. Get the hip depth - the length from waist to table when doll is seated on table. This will give crotch depth. Measure back waist to middle of crotch between the legs - this is back seam. Measure front waist to middle of crotch between the legs - this is front seam. Add 1/4 to 1/2 inch to the two crotch seams for ease, your call. If you want it baggy, use 1/2 inch. Otherwise, add less. Add 1/2 to 3/4 inches to hip measurement for ease. Draw a rectangle that is from waist to toe measurement plus 1 and 1/2 inches. This will give seam allowance for waist turn down and one inch hem. Width of rectangle is 1/2 hip plus The above recommended addition for hip ease, your call. Draw the front crotch curve plus desired ease. Draw the back crotch curve plus desired ease. Mark front crotch - it will always be less then the back crotch. Cut out two pieces. Sew front crotch. Sew back crotch. Sew inner leg seams. Turn waist down1/4 inch, sew. Turn up hem desired length, sew. The waist can be finished with stitched in elastic, or a fly opening left open and the pants pleated or darted into waist band, which you will cut at this time. This is a very simple pattern, and once you master it, you will be addicted! It can be made to look more tailored. The elastic gives it a gathered waist, which is actually how these pants are made in real life. Otherwise, shape it with darts or pleats. You’ll have to play with it to see how you want it to fit, but once it does, it’s really convenient. Also, you can make baggy and slimmer versions. If you want more tailored pants, play with this basic pattern until you get the shape and fit you desire. Hope you have tons of scrap for fitting! Good luck.
Excellent description here, but do you happen to have photos for reference? Even a completed pair of pants would be great to see. Thanks!
I do. I am so new that I’m a bit of a dunce with posting photos. If you want to post an email you are comfortable with, I will send a bunch of pictures and even a little video!
Oh awesome, I'll send you a pm with my email! I really appreciate it~ As for posting pictures, most everyone here uses Flickr, which can be a little strange to use on mobile. I think this thread might help explain- /threads/solved-how-to-post-photos.818066/#post-12760415
Wow thank you! Yes I can draw my patterns, but I usually do it for girls and I am not very used to boys patterns (which are weirdly more difficult than females patterns, never understood why) and I was finding myself in a tough spot drawing a pattern for SD boys, so I gave up. I would like to have a sample of how the finished pattern would look too, since visualizing would make it easier for me! But your instructions are very clear and I thank you a lot for taking the time to write it! I will try it this weekend if I have the time. And yeah I have a lot of scrap fabric! I collect scraps just to use them for BJDs, you never know when something can be useful
If you have an email, send me a pm and I will send you a bunch of pictures. Gotta learn how to post those things...
