50–65cm Dolls 60cm or so people- multiple sculpts in progress

So here we go. I guess I will post all my boys in this one as they are going on the same eventual body and will be all about the same size. I am going to be making two variations of the body. One will look like a healthy athletic person, and the other will look thin and wafey, a lighter more delicate version with fine muscling. Two of the heads will be mainly available with the thinner body, Andreus and Ezekiel, while the third head will be available on the heavier one, Alexander. I guess I am going to post Anya in here too as Alexander and Anya are a set so there is a female body as well which I have not made quite as much progress on.

Lets start with Andreus. Andreus is a vampire. He has a slightly open mouth. He is older and so has a slight deformity, his ears are pointed, which sets him apart from the rest of humanity. There will be teeth attached to his headback which will be white, no matter what color the rest of him is. That is part of the reason why I wanted to go for the headback with a face plate instead of just making his noggin whole. This little one is not all doom and gloom. Andreus is the light. He has the power to heal and is a very positive ethereal character. In life he had synesthesia which made him insane. He was a gypsy that was born as a near albino and was shunned until he was left for dead. With his embrace he gained clarity and has used his vision to paint. His work is renowned among the undead. Try putting all that into a face, LOL.

So Ezekiel is a cool guy. I know, how descriptive... sorry. Zeke was born because of another doll that came into our house. It started as just a drawing and I have a really horrifying picture of him to show you...



Now that that is over... I started him as a plate that will fit on the same headback as Andreus. They will both go on the slight build body which is why I pictured them both with it. Ezekiel has some very different features. He has a massive overbite. His face is very narrow so it feels long, even though he is the same approximate size as Andreus. I will have to make some teeth just for him because his mouth is made so differently and he doesn't have fangs. He has one other interesting feature. He too has a deformity that effects his ears but it was a birth defect. They are not pointed. They are more squared off. He looks as though he is an elf that had his tips cut off. They are also huge. It's funny because despite being so... awkward, I still think he's pretty. He rocks that overbite and damnit, his ears were made for holding back his hair which not many sculpts can do when they are simply human. Well I guess he's a little bit more than human too. His father was Gadreel so he is a nephilim. In the story he is the oldest son, and he's not very old. His brothers keep getting killed off much to his great sadness. I'm really excited to work on him.



The next few shots are me trying to gauge the architecture of his face using shadows. I have only really worked on him for three or so days. I pick him up and wander around with him, smooth a little here and there, but I have only seriously gotten to sit down with him a small number of times. I shouldn't be so pleased over something so little and unfinished.

 

I will post the last two together. One is Anya. Anya is a girl, I know.... I'm sculpting a girl, who'd have thunk it. I even tried to sculpt a girl once that turned into a boy... I mean it was her lover that it turned into, but anyway, that is a different story. Anya is most definitely a girl and she has the exact opposite of what I usually sculpt in my boys. She has a cute little nose and a sweet yet mischievous smile. A little history. Anya is a wolf. When wolves hit puberty they change. With girls it is later than boys normally and hits between 15 and 17. With the boys it is 13 to 16. In her case she is older, in her mid 20s so has indeed changed and has the ears to prove it. I have a thing for making different fantasy ears I guess, LOL. Even the humans have issues. So back on track again. Anya is from a very old very rare bloodline that has been pure for centuries. The blood of the wolves has intermixed with mankind and most of them can't even change anymore. She can. OK, time for pictures. She and Alex are very rough so please forgive me.



You will notice the seamline in her forhead. I did a quick mold off of Andreus when I was originally thinking of having them all be classical heads so that I would have something to get a base from in the correct size. I changed my mind and decided to do them as face plates after I had yet another magnet come loose from one of my own dolls. It is present in all of these when I begin because the first thing that I usually do is carve back Andreus's features and sculpt their onto the right size face. That way it won't be as much work for me to fit the headback to all of them

On to Alexander. He's a little bit more serious... and very russian. He is also a vampire. I know I know, I said they were lovers. Yes they are. I know that the lack of bloodflow makes physical intimacy impossible because Vampires can't magically kick in a few random heartbeats so their junk works. I know that wolves and the undead are usually at each others throats, but I swear with these two it works. She finds him and he saves her. They are both running from fates they never signed up for and develop a bond that is stronger than is perhaps healthy for either of them. I mean, he will risk the sun to go get her ben and jerry's just so she doesn't pout... and she always tells him that he feels so warm to her, and that his eyes look so alive, even though they both know that his eyes have silvered and will always be cold. Did I mention that he was russian. Well let me say it again.... actually they both are, LOL. She just doesn't look quite as russian as he does.

I sculpted them so that they fit together perfectly when they kiss. every aspect of their faces was made to fit the other one, even the way their eyes line up when they are close. I have see too many dolls sold as sets that have issues relating to one another. It is taking me longer with these two because I can't just paste on their features. Each step has to be done with the other present so that I can account for how the variance in the sculpt will work with the other. Even the size relation between the male and female body I am making will account for this. I am making them for each other. and you will be able to see their cute little fangy teeth just like with Andreus

So that is it. Four of them. There will be two more joining shortly. I will randomly shove pictures in here. I hope that you like them. I'm trying really hard. I hope you like where I am going with them.

 

Thank you! That really means a lot. I feel badly that I haven't been posting as regularly. I have been sculpting! I ran into a few road blocks (and completely changed my personal situation as I now have an Ex in the mix) and had to choose between sculpting them, or posting about sculpting them. It turns out the actual action of sculpting is medicinal... though I desperately need the feedback to let me know that I am on the right path or I lose momentum. How silly is that?

Glyndon, hopefully I won't let you down. I hope to work more on the headback today. It's been holding me up. I know how it should all work... but my brain is not quite wrapped around how to make it so all the inside parts fit together right when I already ahd the outsides all made. I have ideas. some of them involve quantum physics but I think I will manage... or post my silly mistakes so everyone can learn what not to do.

 

So I have updates. I have been horrible about posting them. I have started on a body and jointed the thing. I started with the torso...

The headback works for both Zeke and Andreus and it will for Alexander and Anya once I get it finalized and can sit with those two as well.
