So I have this Mini Super Dollfie. His name is Isshō and I love him. I wanted to shell his dad Junpei, but I'm having a bit of a struggle here. I determined the kind of height difference I want would put Junpei at about 54-60cm tall; basically, Super Dollfie to SD13 height. But I want him to look like a grown adult man, not a young adult or teenager. And with the shift towards 65-75cm dolls being more the norm, I am really having trouble finding mature-looking 60cm dolls. Like, I'm gonna slap facial hair on that guy, he can't look like he's 16. Besides Super Dollfie, does anyone know of other dolls that fit this sort of size niche?
Not sure about the appropriate size, but Sartoria J/Iplehouse/Raccoondoll all make very mature sculpts. But they will look very different from a Volks sculpt. They are more realistic. You could try SD17 boys from Volks.
You might have to look into older sculpts and look around for 2nd hand dolls. I think some of the 00s iplehouse boys were 60-62cm but more mature, even the bodies. Or some of the early Elfdoll boys. I'd say some of the Lati boys from that time too but they are harder to find. I think if you put smaller iris eyes and a more modern style faceup on some of them they would look properly adult. Any other old-timers, can you think of the most mature looking 60cm boys from a ways back?
I'm definitely considering Volks as an option, but I would definitely have to wait until the right sculpt popped up on the secondhand market. If it helps any, the reason I'm looking for a doll this size is I want the height difference of a short younger teen vs a tall adult, so taller dolls may make my MSD look too childish in comparison. Isshō is meant to be 14.
Or you could hybrd an older-looking head onto a Volks body. That woud give you the height you want and the more mature facial sculpt. EDITED TO ADD: I have the opposite issue, especially with my girls, in that most of my SD sized dolls are children or very young teens and I have trouble finding many body options for them that are child shaped - I don't want my nine year old girls to have boobs and curvy hips, but I don't want ALL of them on the Volks SD10 body looking like they are all exactly the same height and build. I've swapped out legs with the longer Volks legs for taller options, and have some on boy bodies with the "boy bits" modded off, plus one on the flat-chested (non-gendered) SD13 Seirei body, two (older girls) on CustomHouse bodies one on the AiL body, which is shorter, and another on an old Luts Delf girl body wit the boos sanded off (works for the skinny all-knees-and-elbows kid look), but at that point I ran out of different options. Some of the Dollmore Adam sculpts could work! I think Sion Yoon looks especially mature, even when compared to the other Adam’s. You could also look at doing hybrids on the dollmore Adam, and/or feeple60 motion-line male body, because they’re the only male bodies I can think of that look mature and are 60cm or less.
Also adding the Dollmore Adam body is shorter than what it says on their site: my Kara Klum is 58cm with his head on, so it's a good option for a shorter boy
Thank you guys for all these options, especially for bodies! I need to figure out what sculpt I want to use for this dude now. I've always kind of imagined him with downturned eyes and a coy smile- I'll have to draft a short list of possible dolls using the options people have given me. I saw a few Volks dolls, a few Delfs, a few Dollmores....Iplehouse is weirdly hard to research, but I'll look into them too! Keep them coming, I really appreciate everyone's help!
I'm facing a similar issue! I want a Man doll, not a boy doll. He doesn't need to be anatomically correct, but he needs manly shoulders and an adult jawline... The thought of 70+ cm is intimidating because I've never seen one in person, and I'm worried it would be too heavy. Plus the additional cost of a Large doll... @Captainnessbot, did you ever decide on a body and sculpt for Junpei?
@ribbondream they do make manly man sculpts, like this guy who looks like Geralt from the Witcher, but yeah, they're for "uncle" size bodies so 70-75cm.
Oh wow, that's the first doll I've seen that could easily pass for 40! I'm okay with the "pretty guy" look where the doll can look like 20 years old male model, but some of the designs I have in mind need to look world-worn, stressed, aged even.
