i was really impressed by the pictures when they went on pre-order, but your photo really is nice to see, they look so detailed!

I haven't had a chance to pull Victor out yet due to holiday busy-ness, but hopefully in the next few days. I will post pics here.

(I had to wash them and let them dry too as the package was quite fragrant with disinfectant.)

The resin feels very nice. I got the pure pale matching resin and it is a stark white. Victor is quite mellowed now so I'll have to blush them if I want a match to him. But I figured as much, so it's not a concern to me.

@Quiet and Insane - i like this wig he's wearing a lot too, the colours suit him.
does he protest that he's "just serious" or "concentrating", or maybe smirks a little to himself when people call him intimidating?

 

@Grimalkin - Thank you! I commissioned the wig from Wixana's Doll House a few years ago. It's an incredible piece of art! Pariah definitely enjoys knowing people find him intimidating. He thinks it mean he can get away with anything and no one will challenge him.

Man I miss my big boys. Developed arthritis in hands and in winter it's esp painful, but I should have kept at least one guy and just had him to spoil and look at. If you have a Venitu or a Goohwa hold on to them, they are very special.

 

I also have arthritis in my wrists but I’ll never let go of my Goohwa!

 

Cross-posting Carol here since I think I finally learned what do I need to do to make myself fall in love with him again.

He was the first doll I ever sent off to get a faceup not done by yours truly, and I have edited his artist faceup multiple times during the past 6 months. I think I finally figured out what does it lack and why doesn't he feel like "himself" (profile photo is my original faceup that he had before). It's the too light brows and eyes, and too light cheek freckles. I once told a friend that during my over 6 years of owning dolls, there is not a single thing that I regret selling. But, while looking at the recent photos I took of my Venitu, I realized I was wrong. I do regret selling his previous dark brown eyes! These catch light all too well.

I really need to learn how to edit photographs though. In my edits, the white wall can look anything from green to blue to orange...

 

I take photos on an Olympus camera and transfer to my iPad. I then use an app called top camera 2 to edit on my iPad. The only thing it doesn’t do is crop. There’s a slider for reducing intensity of color and a slider for blue to warm. I am lost without it.

I use the native iPad camera app for cropping and either for straightening.

@Quiet and Insane Thank you! The coat (and satchel) is from Iplehouse's Noctarcana Circus Tedros outfit. While I'm not in the habit of owning Iple dolls, I do love collecting the good old outfits from back when their quality was still outstanding.

 

Ooh a classic Iple outfit! Very nice!. It suits him well.

 

Dropping in here to share a Venitu I painted for my friend She dropped him off at my house like... a year ago, whoops! She said I could do whatever I wanted, and I was inspired by his skin-tight leather pants so went for a tired rockstar.



This body is seriously a masterpiece!! One thing I really, really appreciate is how the elbows are designed so when you bend them, they're actually pointed. Awesome little detail that I've never seen on another doll!

Hopefully! They do pop up from time to time. It's just a matter of being ready for one when it appears.

 

Is this the right place to talk about 5th motif hybrids? I've succesfully hybrided my Goohwa but I'm still struggling with my Venitu, I've had some recommendations that seem pretty good like the dollshe 28M Classic body, but thought i'd ask for some other options??? Venitu's wonderful but troublesome big jaw makes it hard for him too look good in anything but the timeless body

 

Of course you can talk about hybrids here!
I have my Venitu on a Dollshe Pure body. He does look a bit weird proportionally, but it works for his character. The freakishly long neck on the body works out well with his deep neck hole.

 

Anyone knows when will 5th open pre order? I’m too late to know 5th

 

There won't be a new preoder for Venitu and Gohwa. The artist said they don't want to release them again and instead focus on new dolls (last I heard a girl was next?)

 

Oh thank you! Guess I’m gonna keep my eye on second hand Gohwa.

 

Second hand is the way to go if you're fast and have money set aside. I'm still praying another Venitu head will pop up one day. I'd really like to mod one into a sleeping version!

 

A sleeping version of Venitu would be cool. I wish more companies would do them...sleeping versions of sculpts...and make them available when ordering the regular version.

 

Oh absolutely! The #1 way to get me to spend more money is to give me part options - sleeping heads and hand poses!

It's definitely a great hybrid! I feel like from some angles maybe his head might look a little too big, but it's not enough to annoy me. I just adore how much the body slouches! Having a perfect resin match is also pretty nice.

 

I feel like you can make some really great hybrids with both Goohwa and Venitu and I’m always happy to see what people come up with

 

I'm so excited to be able to join this thread since I've now acquired a Venitu. He doesn't have a name yet, but I'm sure it'll come to me soon. I love them moody boys. It's been quite an adventure to collect dolls that were discontinued before I even joined the hobby, but so happy to have gotten him (with a little enablement and nudging from some fellow collectors).

Thank you! I hope to photograph him more soon. I am living for how this line has such a variety of styles and aesthetics. Seeing other's creativity in this hobby brings me so much joy.

 

I really should take my boy out for photos again, but the rain as deemed it will only appear on my days off at the moment.
