5th Motif Discussion - part 4

Dec 3, 2017

    1. BJDivas had received a shipment of just heads not that long ago, but it could be just the first round. If you ordered through them you should ask them. @Haru's cat

    2. I received my head-only order (fresh) about two weeks ago. I live in Canada. I’m very glad he didn’t get caught up as I’m currently up to six weeks’ wait on a pair of shoes stuck in customs...

    3. @animemom I inquired shortly after making the previous post and heard back from BJDivas very quickly. :)
      @Havra
      Congrats on receiving him! :D
Oh no, I hope they arrive to you soon!

    4. He looks fantastic. Happy Birthday handsome.

    5. Thank you! <3

    6. Has anyone tried to hybrid Venitu on Angell-Studio 74cm male body? :D Looking for a taller than 70cm body. Or even a loongsoul 73cm if AS doesn't work.

    7. Ooh looks like the first batch of the new hands has arrived at Mr Cho's! He posted about it on his Facebook.

    8. They look so beautiful in resin. Ugh, I'm so weak for 5th Motif hands.

My Goohwa head arrived today! He's absolutely beautiful and I'm excited to get off medical leave and get back to work so I can save up for his body (and the body for my Dollshe Grant Phillippe heads)!

    9. They're gorgeous. I'm hoping they're cast in pale tan at some point. Pariah needs new gesture hands! That fist in particular is very suitable for his character.

    10. The hands look so pretty. Did they say anything about honey resins? Would that be cast or not, anyone knows?

@generalbun I cannot help you with your specific search, but in the summer I can try Goohwa or Venitu on Uiversedoll 73cm body or Dollstwon 18yr (also 73cm) body. I am away from my dolls until July, so I cannot try it before.

    11. Ah that would be helpful too, thank you! :)

    12. They only cast honey skin if you can provide a CoA from a doll in that specific color.

    13. @generalbun No problem :D Maybe someone can help you with your specific search before then.

@meanae I do have a CoA from my honey-resin boy, but as far as I understod the hands would be cast before we could buy them and not on pre-order. So I am confused as to how it would work to provide a CoA to buy the hands.

    14. @generalbun
If it's of interest, I've tried my Venitu on the Universedoll body before and it's not a very good fit neck-wise. The Universedoll neck is, as is often the case I'm afraid, much too short and thin. Personally I think the head looks a bit big on the body as well.
(Also of note in the side photo, the Universedoll neck scoops in right above the adam's apple. So the neck is actually thinner than it looks in that photo. It changes right above the point where the chin hits the neck.)

I'm so excited about the haaaaaands!! :dance

    15. The honey skin hands are made case by case :) The regular colors are made beforehand so people can buy them when they're available, but the honeys are actually a preorder if I understood Mr. Cho right. Its all open on his facebook page.

    16. Ah thank you! Any bit helps me find a suitable body so I appreciate it a lot :3nodding:

    17. Thank you :D I will go check it more on Facebook.

    18. Hi these seems to be the most updated thread on fifth motif dolls. This thread is godsend! Just about to get my fifth motif doll and needing all the help I can since I have read so much about their clothing issues. I still have some questions though and I hope someone can help me answer them:

      1. Shoes: Do iplehouse eid shoes fit them? Are there other sites that have shoes that can fit them. Im looking more on the sportswear side and have checked Freedom Teller etc.
      2. Looking for a baseball cap. Didnt know it will be this hard. Anyone who has seen one please share.
      3. Beanie. Saw the beanie in iplehouse. Is the beanie available anywhere else
      4. Underwear: where can i find good underwear lol

Apologies if the questions have been answered before in this thread. It is quite a long long thread. Thank you

PS is there a place in this forum that showcases all the venitu and goohwa styling/faceup? Sorry total newbie here

    19. @d-caw
For the face-ups - have you tried searching Flickr, Instagram or Google?
For clothes: keep an eye on etsy. Ebay and aliexpres (or taobao) are also good options, but please be aware that most dolls that seem cheap there are likely fake and not allowed on DOA.

Shoes: measure his feet, no you want your inside shoe size to be at least 5 mm longer en 2 mm wider. Than they should fit.
Beanies: make one from you sock?

    20. Also, check out the what fits thread. Not much there, but some of these are answered, like shoes. And it's a newer thread.

    21. Oh wow never thought of making a beanie from a sock. Thanks will definitely try that out

    22. I've made multiple beanies from men's socks, but it depends on the tightness of the sock's weave whether they fit the Venitu head well or not. Some fit better than others. :) Super easy to make and customize, though!

      • x 2
    26. Ahhhhhhhh OMG thank you!! it looks to be a good fit, yesss! how did you improvise the neck donut and is it possible to get side view photos & neck donut photos please?

      • x 2
    27. @generalbun

I can show a side view, but there will be no posability because the neck donut is a piece of paper towel rolled into a string and wrapped several times around the elastic. I don’t own a company made neck donut, so posability with the ones I have (Milliput) won’t mean anything

    28. I just got my Venitu head, too! I'm so glad I finally had the chance to own my grail doll, even if it was just the head for now. The whole sales thing just came out of nowhere and I had only bought a full sd size doll a few months earlier and was about to move, so I had to make a rough choice between eating and having a full doll haha. I hope I can find his body secondhand in 2 years when I (hopefully) get my Bachelor of Laws finished.

On another note, I knew he'd be trouble to hybrid, but I tested him on my Ringdoll Rgm3 body and even though the neck hoop won't even go through his neck hole, I'm sure that with some elbow grease and covering clothes I could fix quite neat full body photos. It'd just be a shame owning a floating head like this for 2 years without being able to use it.

    29. Congrats @vauhtikatti I am sure he'll understand. Good luck in your endeavors.

    30. @vauhtikatti - Congratulations! I'm sure you'll be able to find a workaround to be able to take photos of him. :) Even if it means he floats for a while and/or borrows bodies. I know that feeling well...I have many floaters just patiently waiting for a body.

    31. Shoes for Venitu. They looks very different.

    34. Thank you @Legend for showing all these amaz shoes. I have found boots that lace up around ankles can either help or hinder a Doll to stand. Looks like socks are a need to have as all that dark leather will stain. As for the SartoriJ shoes, seems they are for guys with bigger feet for sure. The Doc Martin's style look like ones from places like Dollmore or even Blue Blood Doll.

Thanks again this helped me a lot.

    35. I think the problem with venitu are his ankles; if the shoe is angled too much (too much heel), he tends to lean or fall forward. Mine does that too in his Oxfords... for now I'm putting a pencil or something below the front of his shoe to keep his body from leaning too much xD

    36. Hello! I just try to do a hybrid between Venitu head and Narin 68 cm body from Art-Bimong. The result is pretty good. So I want to share this with anyone who is still finding the body to do the hybrid. Based on this body, the neck circumference is 11 cm with the silicone neck donut. This neck donut is a perfect fit for Venitu head. So the head can place perfectly on the body. The proportion is good in my opinion. The neck may be slightly short while looking from the front but it looks perfect while looking from the left and right side. This proportion of the whole body is similar to the Fifth Motif body. So I think Narin 68 cm body is also a good choice for doing the hybrid. If you're interested in this body, please find more information on Art-Bimong website. Hope it helps. :D

      Note:
      - Venitu head is in the Copper Oriental skin. Narin 68 cm body is in the Light Tan skin.
      - If you would like to buy this body, please buy the separated neck jointed version. In this hybrid, Venitu can look up but he can't look down. So the neck jointed will help him to look down.

    37. Great photos @fancat thanks for sharing them here. What skin tone is head and what skin tone would you recommend for that company's body?

    38. @animemom This head is in the Copper Oriental skin. :) It's not matched with the Light Tan skin from Art-Bimong at all. I didn't have the intention to hybrid them together. I buy them as full dolls and try to hybrid them later. Because I think that they have the potential to do a hybrid and the result is pretty good. I see that many people are still finding the body for their heads. So I would like to share these pictures as the reference for other Venitu/ Goohwa owners. :3nodding:

I believe the Oriental skin (Dollshe's Pure skin) and the Oriental skin (Art-Bimong) might be the good match. Since I don't own any Oriental skin dolls from Dollshe but I do have the sample color of the Oriental skin form Art-Bimong. I'll try to take the photos of it in daylight. So people can try to compare it with their doll that in the Oriental skin from Dollshe. :D

    39. I’ve seen photos of Venita on Dollshe 28m classic to be a good fit but limited mobility on the neck.

Nice! That's a hybrid of interest indeed. ^__^
And honestly, Venitu can't really look down even on the Timeless body, it's just a quirk of how his head is sculpted.

I was doing some work on Victor yesterday and got him put back together this morning, so I took a quick snap of him sitting on the end of my bed. Hehe.
Victor says hi and hopes everyone is having a nice day.

    42. I need to ask for you opinion. I've had my copper oriental Venitu for less than two months and I noticed some chips near the joints area. The chips are white and pretty visible by now. I assumed that it is normal for a darker resin and for the areas near the joints. However, a friend of mine told me it's too soon for it to get so noticable. This really made me worried. What is you experience with a copper oriental dollshe resin? Is this normal or is something wrong with him?
Please take a look at the photo to see what I'm talking about.

    43. @Mysha
That seems normal to me because the neck/head joint has a lot of resin area rubbing against each other and it has a lot of pressure too since it has the weight of the whole doll top to bottom. I think neck joints often have this more visibly than other joints, even in other resin tones, we just don't usually see it is much since the head often covers the whole top of the neck.

Now, I don't have Dollshe tans specifically, but just my thoughts from other dolls I've owned.

      • x 2
    44. @Lady Ravenswood
Yeah, that's why I assumed that's normal, but I also have to admit I'm not used to resin (I'm mostly a vinyl dolls collector), so when someone more experienced tells me it is not normal, I start to worry.
The same is on his knees and ankles. But I guess all this conforms to your theory.

      • x 1
    45. @Mysha
Hehe, I'm actually the same with my one vinyl doll because I'm so used to resin!

      • x 1
    46. @Mysha You can suede your doll to avoid it becoming worse

I had the same happen to me on another new doll and I also I dont like the sound it makes when rotating so I used very thin suede to soften

I used this tutorial to draft the pattern using masking tape and then instead of cutting the pattern on silicone, I used suede

      Kips

    47. I just got the shipping notice for my Venitu! I cannot wait for him to get here. I have no idea if I have anything that will fit him, but I'll need to make his outfit anyway. Gah, I'm so excited!

    48. Congrats @LuckyXIII when did you order? I am anxious for my two but I was the last person to order I believe. BJDivas would know for sure.

    49. I ordered the end of November. I did layaway and it's for a full doll.

    50. Thank you, so you weren't one of the waitlist people. Congrats again.

    51. Thanks for the tip! Do you need to glue suede or only put it there?
I assume this would require unstringing the doll, and I don't want to do this now, because he works pretty good currently and I don't want to make it worse ^^"
