5th Motif Discussion - part 4

Dec 3, 2017

    1. For those trying to order the Fifth Motif hands, please hang tight.

It's taking a bit to turn all of the listings on.

Since the Foo Dou pre-orders we'd spent several hundred dollars as well as countless hours optimizing the site at our host's suggestions. Apparently, their solutions weren't correct.

    2. @BJDivas are there any updates? It's almost midnight, but if there is indeed still a chance, I'll stay up despite the 7am alarm!

    3. Aaaaaaaaand our host has completely broken our site. -_- Sorry everyone. Nothing's been sold yet.

    4. Ok, we're going to reschedule the sale date. It'll be announced again.

    6. Check our Facebook or website for an update to how we're handling the hand sets orders.

    7. @BJDivas, why is the lottery not only for the owners of Venitu and Goohwa according to certificates? There are very few Fifth Motif 8-Hands Set, and I believe that, first of all, they are for those who need to get the color match for their dolls.

    8. @LeMagieNoir That might be reasonable, although the certificates itself do not state resin colours which you could buy, or so I recall. Also I have an Oriental Venitu x2 but I put in my entry that I am willing to buy a set in Fresh too if all orientals are gone, as in case I cannot win the oriental ones the fresh will be better than nothing when blushed.

Although most of all I am worried that people will put in an entry stating that they take all sets of a certain colour if they win, and knowing there will be no more in these old colours, they will easily sell them forward with a higher asking price than what they lose in shipping plus buying.

    9. EDIT; decided not to post a rambling rant and move on instead.

    10. @vauhtikatti, I worry about that too! Moreover, according to the current conditions of the lottery, the first winner can pick up all Hands Set and resell them only for profit.
And moreover, as I understood the lottery terms, any email can participate. You can create a lot of emails for cheating in a week.
I think the right conditions would be a lottery for certificate numbers, and even better, one set for one certificate number.
So there will be an honest chance of winnings for owners of Venitu and Goohwa.
Yes, the colors of the resin are not indicated in the certificates, but Mr. Cho has this information and he can check it on the winning lottery ticket.

    11. Has anyone seen the new pure pale? It was basically white, so I wonder if it has shifted pink like the other colors. I was
distracted by real life, and now I'm panic-ing about getting Ariel some new digits to express his angsty self with. (love that pointy finger) I hate lotteries. Blame Volks. Resellers always seem to prevail. But, BJDivas is doing the best they can.

    12. @petiteballerine - my goodness what a gorgeous photo! how do you get anything done when you could stare at him for hours? <3

i have surrendered to the experience i suppose. i actually thought i had successfully bought a set of hands on the 10th, but i guess there will be a refund. sigh. i think perhaps they are still wading through all emails, so i'm trying to be patient and not add to the pain. must be terribly frustrating for them as well, to have technology issues at such critical times for their business.

i really love those hands. i figure draw from my dolls like models, and i love how expressive those hands are, would love to get them into the gestures i can emulate.

    13. Sigh!

    14. @petiteballerine there is a photo on page 45 by @Lady Ravenswood showing their Venitu in old fresh with new fresh hands. The match is still okay, it is only a little different in colour. IMO on the more pale side Oriental is the only colour that has shifted so much it is like a whole different colour.

    15. my boy is a 2016 oriental, so old resin too. maybe my color matching skills for paint will help me ha ha

    16. I received fashion Amanda after 19 months waiting & she's pink. like a cooked shrimp. I always thought fresh was a subtle rose undertone like the old 'normal.'
Pale should be white. no pink. Ariel was supposed to be fresh. (he's laughing 'cuz he thinks he's pretty darn fresh.) :wiggle
I guess there will be swapping & selling after peeps see what matches their guys.

    17. Sinking feeling in my stomach....

    18. We don't dictate the terms of the lottery, we're only helping Mr. Cho conduct his sales.

The lottery system is actually more secure from scalpers than when we were simply offering them for sale through our website on a first-come first-serve basis. Under that system, someone could buy up all the sets and any intervention we'd perform would be after the fact. By handling it manually, it's much easier to monitor for suspicious activity and foul play. We will have people's names, e-mail address, and IP addresses along with other information that we and our partner companies have based on these pieces of information, all of which can be easily entered into security plugins that ban based on those parameters. People who engage in foul play will face banning from our services as well as Fifth Motif and most likely up to all of the companies that we represent, and this will apply to future companies that we take on as well. We're making the trade-off for exploiting the system very punishing.

As far as giving owners of Venitu and Goohwa extra consideration, we definitely understand where you're coming from, but this isn't something Mr. Cho stipulated. Our compromise is to limit the announcement of these hand set sales outside of our own media to this thread and the Fifth Motif group on FB. We are not announcing it in the News section for this reason.

    19. While I do understand the reasoning behind the decision to hold the orders lottery style, I can't say I'm terribly enthused. That being said, best of luck for all who decide to participate, as I will not be among you. Between dollshe's sudden resin change and this, I suppose I will simply wait for a set to inevitably hit the second hand market, as there was a copper oriental set that just recently sold. A shame, as I had intended to purchase a set for a friend as a gift, and would have preferred to place a preorder with the knowledge that it would at least eventually make it to me, or even battle in the usual click war, as opposed to lottery. But I never did care for lotteries, so six of one, half dozen of the other, guess it is all the same for me.

Once more, best of luck to any and all who decide to give it a go. Let us simply hope that this does not upset Mr. Cho's work on his new girl.

    20. Anyone hear about the hands today?
I'd like to know if I didn't win so I can order other things.

      • x 1
    21. i think it might take some time, as each entry could involve second choices and emails back & forth. :aangel:

    22. Hmmmm.

    23. I was just thinking the same thing today about 5th hands. Maybe there are so many entries, it will take a while to sort them. enter them in their lotto database. :?

    24. Just a quick update, we completed the lottery drawing and are working on contacting winners. It's going to take longer than we'd anticipated. There weren't actually that many entries, but most of the entries were for two of the colors, so there's some "do you want this in a different color?" and waiting to hear back.

      • x 3
    25. thank you for the update!

    26. Yes, Thank you.

    27. @BJDivas thank you for the update :D

I managed to snag a set in copper oriental. I'm so stoked!

    28. ^woot!

    29. pale for my mer-boy! they'll be such fun to paint. :celebrate:sumomo:

who else is getting some hands this time around?

    30. I also really want to know the results of this lottery, but it seems I'm not a winner :atremblin

    31. it's probably around 3am in BJDivas time zone right now, so i'm sure more will come through tomorrow :) i'm squirmy too, i've got a Venitu in 2016 oriental, and would not turn down other colours either... i've got enough blush and different bodies to go around haha.

    32. We've contacted the winning entries eligible to order the Oriental and Fresh sets, as that's what most people wanted. We're now working down the list and checking if there are takers for the other colors, in the order in which the randomizer put the names. We need to hear back before going down the list more so it's taking more time. Anything that isn't claimed after we go through the entire list will be opened up for general sale on our website.

    33. @Mahgiep they emailed me about the lottery today, so I think they are contacting all participants right now when they just have time.

Edit: congrats to everyone getting their sets, I didn't see your posts at first. I got a set, but I asked for clarification about the colour I now get as I too had a primary and secondary wish. My boys will be happy nevertheless. Now they can point back at my rr Epsilon.

    34. burning the midnight oil for us fans, thank you! :aangel:

    35. No contact here. Congrats to those who won.

    36. We'll update when the whole process is concluded. So far, still waiting for confirmed winners to pay, people to respond about their second choice, and lots more folks to contact.

    37. Oh wow! I was picked, but I got the pure pale. My pastels await the hands!

    38. Pale is the way to go. Ariel is lucky he's already pale. It will be interesting to see how much he's changed color since he arrived long ago.
To my eyes, he's still white, though perhaps a bit mellowed without being yellow.
Sent payment but you need to reply to the winner email with your address so Mr. Cho gets a record of who you are. Unfortunately, you get put in the stack of inquiries.
I can wait. BJDivas sure work hard for their pittance.
I've asked Mr C to assemble the hands that come in two parts. Anyone else? Sure hope it doesn't slow things down too much.

      :chocoberry

    39. How do we pay for the hands? Goods&Services or F&F? I asked BJDivas, but I guess they are busy now, and I want to complete my order ASAP.

And yes, I want my hands assembled too. I don't think I could do it properly myself.

    40. I paid Good and Services. There wasn't a fee for anyone since I pay from an account not a credit card.
You have to glue and heat the hands and sand them....ugh. Not my cup of tea.

    41. I guess I'll do the same with the payment.
And I'm definitely not up for messing with these hands >_< Would be a shame if I broke anything.

    42. Score, me too! I'm doing a little happy dance.... and i think i would rather the master help me too...

    43. I remember reading earlier in this thread or an earlier thread that BJDivas helps 5th Motif on a completely voluntary basis, so they're not actually earning anything for their work on this stuff. According to their Facebook they've got a lot of other things going on too, it's a wonder that they're making time for this. *_* I mean, not that I'm complaining. >_>

      • x 1
    44. ^^^ indeed. they been very patient with us. :aangel:
and up all night (seems like all the time!), website renovations, and piles of boxes from all the crazy deliveries still to go through i'm sure. i would like to say my sincere thanks :aheartbea

    45. I did F&F. There was an $8 fee for me. After this horrendous week bjdivas had, I couldn't bear to add insult to injury. I forgot about the assembly.

    46. I just read that South Korea is now on red alert for corona, but not lock down yet. I hope the hands all ship soon and that the South Koreans stay healthy. I was supposed to travel there in May with a stop over in China but I doubt that's happening. Good news is that China's new cases are down.

      • x 1
    47. I also requested them assembled. I am so scared that they get stuck in the customs - our customs system was renovated in the beginning of the year, and I have not ordered anything from outside EU since as the system seems not to yet function properly. You have to pay fees to two different places, and it may take very long before they confirm the payments, and they ask for proof of value more, which again causes delay. Funny part is DHL had that kind of system here earlier (taking fees to let a parcel through) but it was said to be illegal, now finnish post is doing the exact same and no one bats an eye (and I do feel like fighting about the legality of the fee if it comes to that, after I get my doll securely I'll make a complaint to authorities).

    48. I now ordered them assembled, too. I figured I already have to do color matching for 8 hands, so I don't want anymore fussy work.

    49. I won, but not for the color I was going for-- but my friend did! And given that she's significantly less invested in the hands/SD dolls than i am, she offered to let me buy them from her! :D she knows how much I wanted them.

So, I turned down buying my own winning hands. I figured they would make someone else happy :)

I'm excited!! Congrats to the winners so far

    50. That's cool!

    51. Just throwing this question out there, any wig suggestions or places to get wigs for Ventiu or Goohwa? My boys are tired of hats and being cueballs .... :sweat

    52. @pris84 - I haven't had any trouble with them. Licht 8-81/2 is a nice fit. Also Soom and Ringdoll 8-9. I have such a hodgepodge here.
Volks and Leekeworld tend to be a bit big.

Jishin is wearing Dollmore, I think. old pic. Lots of braids in my stash.

    53. they are both so nice, love seeing the pictures :)

    54. Speaking of hands, I love the expression each hand gives but they are so special I kind of only want to use them for special occasions. With that being said, are there any jointed hands that are compatible with 5th Motif?

    55. I've ordered a pair of Granado jointed hands (the Zen line) that should, from measurements and skin comparisons alone, fit Venitu. They haven't arrived yet, but I'll post pictures when they do :) The problem with the timeless hands is that they're very slim and long; most jointed hands for dolls in the 70cm range are too fat/bulky for them (especially in the joint).

      • x 1
    56. thank you so much. I would love to see them!!!

    57. my hands shipped from mr cho. he's such a nice man. excited to paint & try them on Ariel. other peeps should be getting theirs soon. :D

      • x 1
    58. Yay! My hands set shipped too! I'm so excited to receive them :D

    59. i'm so glad to hear they are on the move! i think it must be so much work to do everything yourself, and with such great attention to detail. he is very appreciated. :aangel:
how did you find out about shipping? from Mr Cho or the broker?

      • x 1
    60. Mr Cho sent out the shipping notification emails himself :XD: He's so nice~
