5th Motif Discussion - part 4

I wrote BJDivas and they said they will get some in for the basic three colors; pale, fresh and oriental. But if you need custom colors you need to place order. Right now Dollshe is hogging the machines I think due to their serious back log. Eventually we will see orders come in to purchase. Hopefully soon. As with three guys in oriental skin I need extra hands.

 

@StellaMarigold I emailed bjdivas, and they directed me to email Mr. Cho, at the begining of this month. He told me he had just gotten some hands in and was checking them over and starting the process of sanding/assembling them. I don't know if that will be for in-stock hands too? Mine was a special color order. He said there had been a lot of delays. So it looks like there is very recent activity with the hands.

No problem. Glad I had my postal scale near by easy enough to weigh one. Feels heavier in my hands though.

 

Thank you @animemom and @Lady Ravenswood - I'm not in a huge hurry (I don't even have a doll for the hands, I just love them and would like to work a hybrid someday). I was curious, though!

 

Haven't made new pictures of my Yuri in a while, so he came with me to the lasst doll meet

That is an awesome photo. I bet if I do my guy before he's body blushed all I have to do is take him apart, and dry him all his parts plus all the string. Otherwise mold would grow. Seen it happen before.

 

I also recently contacted BJDivas about the hands and the redirected me to Mr. Cho too! Same answer, they are working on it but there have been delays! I guess we'll just have to be patient (I say as I obsessively check their website every day for some oriental hands to be in stock).
Another thing.... I haven't seen any other information out there about it, but in his email, Mr. Cho mentioned he was working on a new doll, which made me SUPER excited.
Anyone else hear/see anything about this new in-progress doll?

 

Thank you both! a friend of mine was in the Pool too, he was holding him at the waist Its currently super warm over here on Germany, so all I had to do was to put him in the shade and let him dry on his own for an hour or two. I've checked his strings, channels and hooks when I got home; all absolutely dry, no mold and no rust

And @ItsDollOrNothing I think I remember reading somewhere that Mr. Cho is working on a female doll, because he wanted to do something different from Venitu/Goohwa.

I hope that if Mr.Cho does release a female sculpt, that she is as defined and revolutionary as his male dolls

I never saw hands like the male hands he did, and now it made other sculptors do very defined hands like Ringdoll and Dollshe, so hopefully when he does the female sculpt, he gives her as much details and a different looking body sculpt than the regular "soft" look of the female dolls

Oh man! A female doll by him would definitely be something to see! That might also be the first female doll I buy (I was gifted one**, but usually I only go for male dolls). Mr. Cho is definitely a groundbreaking sculptor!!

**And even that one was originally supposed to be a male doll. I just did the face-up and clothing as a female :P

 

I remember reading something about the girl doll that she would be a smaller doll. Maybe MSD or smaller because he wanted to work with something smaller than the big boys.

 

Daughter in law would be thrilled if the girl was MSD sized. She only collects MSD or smaller. She really wanted to keep the Venitu I gifted her, but he was just to big.

 

@Prinsessen Interesting! I wonder if he would still make them to scale, like 39cm Dollshe Robin being to with scale the other full sized Dollshe.

 

My dream would be Mr Choo makes Venitu in MSD size

I thought he changed his mind on the smaller girl? I remember she was going to be smaller and a completely different style, like anime. But then he decided he liked his original style better and is making a female doll that would match with Venitu and Goohwa.
Well, whatever Mr. Cho decides to make, I'm excited to see it.

It was just after that order. It's a custom color, so placed through BJDivas via the custom order option.
I got an update from Mr. Cho in June and he was hoping to get them out soon.

 

I ordered mine in the regular order and I have not problem with times, etc I receive them successfully

From the email: "Mr. Cho is working on the hands set, we don't have the details but you can ask him directly, he'd definitely know more than we do!"

I admit I was surprised they didn't have any information as the order was through them, but Mr. Cho answered quite promptly so I am just being patient and hoping for a shipping notice soon.

Yes! Mr. Cho is very reliable and kind, so I don't want to bother him again since I heard from him recently.

 

So just need to be a little bit patient as you say, you will get them for sure

Hi there! Just a clarification about the hand sets: There's only been one ordering period because that's all Mr. Cho has managed to get from Dollshe. He's still waiting for them to get him enough hand sets to open another ordering period, but Dollshe's been focusing on casting their own things. The reason that we don't know the specifics is because a lot of the specifics of their arrangement and what is going on is confidential between Mr. Cho and Dollshe. Mr. Cho visits Dollshe's casting center every week whereas we only know what he tells us, and he can't tell us all the details.

So apparently when he gets some progress he is planning to make another order period? Oh I'll definitely order a set if that's the case! I'll keep an eye out for updates here!

speaking of hand has anyone here tried jointed hand on there venitu? specifically soom idealian or legend doll

 

I have! New Normal Pink (changed some time between 2015 and 2017) is close to Dollshe Fresh, but is slightly more pink.

Soom idealian don't work on venitu, hands are way too... well, thick overall.

I've had my full set for over a year now and they're still unpainted because I am an idiot and designed Pariah to have complex hand tattoos. I have dug my own grave. I'll get to it one day...

Oh no. Haha, I feel you. I have been holding off on blushing the standard hands that came with my Venitu so I could do them all at once...

@Lady Ravenswood - Well it's not just his hands...he's supposed to be covered in tattoos so...it'll be a very big project once I do get started. I am looking forward to seeing how he turns out though!

That sounds like a fun and challenging project. I have one doll that has tattoos (on her hands, feet, and around her waist) and I'm getting the itch to do another doll with tattoos...
Please show off your progress once you get started. I'd love to see.

For me, the hands are just getting a natural blushing. But I just wanted to keep the colors consistent between them. Hehe.

@Lady Ravenswood - I do that too when dolls have multiple hands/feet. Layer by layer in groups of left/right. They don't have to be totally perfect a no human is...but it'd look a bit weird if one was a totally different colour by accident.
I'm thinking that because Pariah has a habit of getting into fights I might bloody up the fist hand and add bruises and bandages to a couple others. Not that I need another level of detail to complicate things. I've been rather addicted to water colour tattoos lately and I'm designing a pretty luna moth for his back. Despite, his all-black-everything aesthetic, brightly coloured tattoos would absolutely pop on his resin colour.

Yes! Haha, but now it's been so long since I did the faceup...that I hope I can figure out which colors I used so they match him...

Oooh, bruises and bandaids would be fun. Especially mixed and matched. It would make them look like they are constantly healing and getting fresh injuries.
And that tattoo idea sounds lovely! Sometimes it's nice to have a pop of contrast. I wear mostly black as well, but sometimes it's really nice to throw a COLOR in there. Hehe.

 

@Lady Ravenswood - Ooh haha yes, that's important! I usually try and take a couple of photos at the start of and during the process so I have some idea of what colours I used.

Yes, just like that! Fight, recover (sulk), rinse, repeat. He's a bit of an arse. Definitely! I love the soft green colours of these moths.

I couldn't wait till they were blushed and had to take a photo since I especially wanted this specific hand for Victor. Hehe.



It's going to be interesting doing the blushing because Victor wears a ring on his right hand...but I didn't realized till I had them in person that every right hand has the ring finger attached to another finger.

 

Ahhhh they look so cute together @Lady Ravenswood! The ring thing might be a bit of an issue though. You could try and make replicas that snap on and off?
