I love this idea! I'm going to be raiding the stretchy knit fabric asap for the new dolls. This way they'll have something to wear until I can work on their main clothes.

 

Can i just add a detail? If you use thicker fabric that doesn't quite fall as nicely as thinner or sheer one, one the garment is on the doll, spray it a bit with water and tie the bottom of the dress with a piece of fabric. Let it dry and the pleats will look more natural
Otherwise I love this tutorial, it's very easy to understand and make!

how do you get the pleats at the bottom? is that from tying the dress up around the waist with the piece of fabric?

 

Oh my gosh, I remember this tutorial from ages ago! I made my first doll clothes based on this and your other tutorials, what a nostalgic thing to find!

You're right, the pleats appear when you tie something around the waist of the dress! You might have to fiddle the pleats around a bit to make them look nice, but it's just as simple as that

 

It turned out so cute! I've seen this pattern before and I always like seeing the end results!
